Most controversial laws in your nation

Postby Walosia » Wed Jun 18, 2014 10:19 am

In Walosia:

1. Shooting a prison escapee is not illegal and people who do so are not arrested or imprisoned.
2. Viewing child pornography is not illegal, however, possessing it, manufacture it, distribute it or pay for it is illegal. This due to that the law don´t consider people who view free child pornography to be the real perpetrators and should therefor not be prosecuted for it. (this one is kind of sick, I know)
3. Drug traffickers are considered scape goats for the drug lords and large traffic rings. Due to this, someone who are caught trafficking drugs only faces 6 years imprisonment max. However, if the drug trafficker is not connected to any large cartel or trafficking ring they can face much larger sentences.

CANON UPDATE (OOC):
I have given this a lot of thought and I have decided to do some major changes to the Walosian History Canon.

The largest change that I will be doing is the removal of the “Walosian-Khelsharian War of 2009” and the following abdication of Empress Liat as well as the removal of the character Liat completely. The reason why is because I have developed my nation into a more realistic fashion during the 2014-2015 era and after reviewing older post I see that the war and abdication of Liat is both unrealistic, doesn’t fit with the overall nation and is simply unprofessional.

I guess, To most nations, The Private Enterprise Ban Act of 1952 might account. It does what is says: outright bans private enterprise from operating in the nation. Today, this only accounts for foreigners and corporations, and only smaller, Soledan bussinesses are allowed to operate.
Others include:
1. Thou shall not eat Carrots after thy Midnight and towards thy 4 at thy night, for such is a sin.
2. Hijabs are illegal to wear. They are seen as ''too foreign''.
3. Royalism of all kinds are banned. Those that follow these ideals are executed without trial (fack you WA!)
4. No Royals can enter Soledan Territory either. This caused much dispute when the Prince of Wales thought he was buying a resort in Korea, but it was actually a small Soledan hut. He technically still owns it, but he cannot arrive to the location in any way.
5. Saying ''rødgløde med fløde'' in public is punishable by Pillow Execution.

EDIT: 1000TH POST! URAAAAA!

Socially stability and preservation laws which uncultured degenerates abroad may consider "bad" such as dress codes and behaviours based on gender, the ban on the practices of a number of religions(prominently Islam and Catholisim), as well as the ban on homosexual behaviour and socialism across the state. Egregious display of any of these would result in severe pentalties such as heavy fines, prison, re education and rehabilitation or death.

These laws are, of course, in the best interests of the Britannian people to maintain a civil, cultured and safe society.

No laws are controversial in Authoritystan.
Any citizens who disagree with said laws, will of course mysteriously disappear for a few days, just to come back loyal.

Smoking weed and other stuff is illegal in Miley World. It started being controversial when Her Majesty Queen Miley Ray Cyrus was caught smoking. The population is rebelling against the government who was elected in 2011 before Miley was caught smoking. The city of Mileywood declared its independence from Miley World cuz of our anti drugs policies and they want more freedom.

Children are allowed to gamble (gambling is Upper-Africa's most profitable industry, obviously state-owned) and vandalism is given public execution. Anyone who speaks out, well, lets just say Winston Smith had it easy. My country is supposed to take place in 1984 being a slightly more bearable nation compared to the three superpowers, you are entitled to your thoughts, but if you try to share them you pay double the price in broken bones.

Members of House Black and other remnants of the previous regime are hunted down and (in many cases) killed on sight. Occasionally they make it to trial, but their attempts at genocide and other forms of violence have left them considered too dangerous to do anything other than executing them.
"Take Fascism and remove the racism, ultra-nationalism, oppression, murder, and replace these things with proper civil rights and freedoms and what do you get? Us, a much stronger and more free nation than most."
"Tell me, is it still a 'revolution' or 'liberation' when you are killing our men, women, and children in front of us for not allowing themselves to be 'saved' by you? Call Communism and Democracy whatever you want, but to our people they're both the same thing; Oppression."
"You say manifest destiny, I say act of war. You're free to disagree with me, but I tend to make my arguments with a gun."
Since everyone does one of these: Impeach Democracy, Legalize Monarchy, Incompetent leadership is theft.

Some include:

1. You don't have the freedom of speech, thought, property, media, assembly, or petition.
2. All private enterprise is strictly illegal.
3. Forceful sterilization and abortions of undesirables is legal and practiced secretly by the State.
4. Police have the right to beat you or shoot you for not complying with a command, or trying to fight back or flee.
5. Religious symbols are not allowed in school nor State buildings. Buildings dedicated to prayer (Churches, Mosques, etc.) are illegal.
6. While most times the death penalty involves lethal injection or firing squad, it can legally involve electrocution, boiling, skinning, starving, beating, drowning, burying alive, crushing, and cutting.
7. Most parents can only have one child, people who work directly for the State (RACs, Ministries, and RCCs) can request to legally have a second child. There is no guarantee that the request will be accepted or denied.
8. Firearms, fireworks, stun guns, tasers, pepper spray, combat knifes, BB guns, air soft guns, paint ball guns, and other things are outlawed and strictly punished.
9. The state legally can exercise totalitarian power.

Probably the anti-divorce and anti-cheating laws. Once married you cannot get divorced, and having an affair is punishable by prison time.

1) There's a legal segregation between the Orthodox & Non-Christian peoples (mainly Muslims); however, this does not include marriage since 99% of Muslims in Salvia are ethnic Salvians.
2) Doing any sort of drug for recreational purpose is legal, but if you're an avid user of these drugs for non-prescription purposes, you're barred from having custody of your children, certain jobs (entering the political field, the police force, etc), and any kind of job that deals with heavy machinery.
3) Polygamy is a crime that warrents the death sentence.
4) Banking conglomerates are illegal, and interest rates are capped at 3.5%

The flat tax rate, advocated by the Conservative Party, is considered by many to be unfair and favouring the rich. Despite the Labour Party's efforts to repeal it, the law has remained on the books for many years.

Well from a foreign perspective there are a few.
They aren't all laws.

1. Ragnarum has strong and often extreme anti-religion laws, practically banning any form of it from existing within its borders, and carries the penalty of a very large fine or possibly even deportation. Preaching religions carries the death penalty.
2. Ragnarum and its businesses will quite happily copy well selling foreign goods and sell them themselves, there is no use in sueing these entities since they are under total protection of the government and there is practically no way of getting to them unless you successfully invade Ragnarum (which you won't)
3. Practically speaking, the death penalty is only carried out extra-judicially by the government, its also totally legal.
4. Ragnarum's unique economic policy has lead the nation to total control of the worlds drug trade, and takes all profits for itself. It often uses this as a weakening strategy before attacking a country as well, spreading and directing the addictive narcotics in its arsenal to disable infrastructure.
5. Ragnarum would rather kill a political enemy than let them "escape" to another country via-deportation. The intelligence forces and RSOG will actually come after political enemies in there own country on deniable ops.
6. From the point of view of a socially conservative nation, Ragnarum could be seen as dangerous. It is very socially liberal and will actively enforce this elsewhere just for the sake of it with military force.

As a liberal democratic socialist state, the Greater Socialist Republic of Zhouran shares the same laws with Anollasia, except for #1. It is legal to wear fez in Zhouran, although most people in Zhouran don't even know what a fez is.

Quite possibly our overly-harsh policy regarding homosexuals which has come under fire on the domestic front by those who favor the old policies which are not as intrusive into people's lives. Another example would be the laws surrounding the bizarrely semi-authoritarian-yet-still-liberal modern government which has existed since the late 1950's and has come under fire from various domestic groups who dislike how things are currently being run who have different ideas on how the government should be structured instead.

These are the five most controversial laws of the Pansapient Federacy:

1. The maximum punishment for treason is death. This is rarely used, but it is still an option.

2. The government may not recognize the legitimacy of nor conduct diplomacy with any foreign nation that practices slavery. Conscription and forced civil service are classified as forms of slavery.

3. The government may not make an alliance with any nation considered authoritarian, though diplomacy may be conducted.

4. The government may not be a party to any foreign organization that holds its own laws above those of the Federacy, nor may the government replace the domestic currency with an international currency.

5. All crops and food animals must pass certain nutritional requirements to recieve government subsidies. Most natural crops and food animals do not pass.
