How does your nation deal with traitors?

Omicron Taran law distinguishes between "low treason" and "high treason". "Low treason", such as selling government secrets to a foreign power, is punished with either a long prison term or permanent exile and the confiscation of all assets (condemned's choice). The latter is far more common, as might be expected. "High treason", where the act results in immediate harm to the nation, is punishable by death.

Treatment of traitors varies by the severity of their actions. For relatively minor actions, they may be pardoned or sentenced to 2-3 years in a very patriotic prison. For more severe crimes of treachery, they receive increasingly unusual punishments, in addition to being stripped of their citizenship and any belongings aside from the clothes on their backs. They are often also exiled from Jeminia, and their exit is a festival, in which they are paraded through the capital, whilst being slapped with fish and pelted with various objects, before being thrown into a dumpster and sent off to another country. In addition to treachery, traitors are charged with all related crimes they may have committed, and the punishments for those crimes are added to the sentences.

For treason (of which we have a very narrow definition), the individual is sent to a rehabilitation center (a much more humane form of a prison that focuses on gentle rehabilitation rather than punishment), usually for between 5 and 10 years, unless the offense caused great harm to the nation or caused an individual to die, in which case a sentence over 10 years would be appropriate.

For crimes not treason but still against our nation (ex. leaking classified documents), the person is usually stripped of any government job they have and sentenced to intensive community service, to try to make up for the damage they have caused. If they do not comply, they are sentenced to a rehabilitation center for several months.
