A DI gas tube from the AR front sight is moved into the AK gas piston, which is mounted to the AR bolt carrier, actuating it, and letting it recoil into a standard AR buffer tube. Strangely enough, this... thing might actually work.
If anyone wants the gun to screw around with, tacticool a bit or something, here it is.

Metal color looks good, but you might make the furniture either a shade lighter or a shade darker. For example, my AK-103 clone uses a RUS Milspec. finish, paint-over-parkerization. The paint on the metal is darker than the polymer furniture, albeit not by much. My Romanian-made WASR-10/63 is just parkerized, though, and black furniture on it is darker than the steel.
Also, slight suggestions that mostly have to do with my personal preferences: might want to "curve" the buttplate just a smidge and maybe add a pistol grip reinforcement plate. There are some other small details I plan on mentioning, but I'm just assuming right now you haven't gotten there yet.
