For Wardie land soldiers it's the Northern Colonies, located in the northern Pacific, usually cold, the further east you go towards the Empire of Snow land the colder and snowier it gets, Snow land is pure white for most of the year, hence the name, soldiers would much prefer staying at home in the Home Islands in the south pacific, or being sent to the warm, desertic Western colonies or the jungle Southern and Eastern colonies
Wardie land soldiers who fought in the Third Snow War against Snow land in 1939-1940 often wished they could be sent to places like Saqa (a colony in the Western colonies), which at that time was an easy deployment, since nothing happened, soldiers in the Western colonies, just like those in the Southern and Eastern colonies didn't have much to do, so when they got off duty they just enjoyed the sun, went to the beach and to local taverns for drinks on warm nights, unlike the soldiers fighting in the Third Snow War, who spent most of their time fighting in the bitter cold and snow, blizzards were common.
I fought in the Third Snow War, whilst my brother was lucky enough to be sent to Saqa, as I fought in the bitter cold, blizzards, snow and ice, when he wasn't doing patrols of local towns he was either sunbathing in the warm sun, fishing down the local dock or down a local tavern having an ice-cold drink. I joined the army to be with him, after his letters painted a picture of an easy deployment in paradise, effectively a "paid long-term holiday", but I made the mistake of waiting until November [of 1939], as tensions between Wardie land Snow land were increasing, the Army needed every new recruit in the Northern colonies in case war broke out between Wardie land and Snow land for the third time in just over 120 years, sure enough war broke out on the 24th [of November], and I spent nearly 3 months fighting in some of the worst weather I've ever seen, 3 months of freezing hell!
When the war ended in January I placed a request to be with my brother, the request was approved, I was shipped out to Saqa in early February, I was amazed and over-joyed when I laid eyes on Saqa, my first glimpse of Saqa was a yellow coastline, with palm trees everywhere, the warm water was lovely and blue, whilst the northern Pacific waters of the Northern Colonies were blue as well, they were freezing, these were lovely and warm. We spent roughly 1 and a half years in Saqa having little more than effectively a long, paid holiday, until the Saqan Mercenary War broke out between Wardie land and the "Black Square" mercenary group on the pay-roll of the former Saqan rebel leaders who fled after defeat in the Saqan Uprising of 1933, and whilst I was back in war, at least we were fighting in warm, desert weather, during my time in Saqa I couldn't help but feel sorry for the poor sods stuck in the freezing Northern colonies!
