Nation Libertarianism Rating

Postby Republic of Coldwater » Tue May 20, 2014 4:01 am

This rating, developed by Liberty4All, a non-profit Coldwater Political Activist Group has decided to develop a rating to see how Libertarian a nation is.

The rating are as follows

Anarcho-Capitalist Lovefest

This nation has no government whatsoever, and companies provide basic protection and needs. This is as Libertarian as a nation could get.

Minarchist State

This nation has a very small government that provides law and order and nothing/a little bit more

Average Libertarian State
Sulania
Cadonica
Urmanian
Fatatatutti (may fall to Moderately Libertarian Country in the future due to high tax rates)
Auzkhia
Lolomz
The english regions
Transoxthraxia
The United Regions
Schirmerland (may rise and fall in the future)
Republic of Minerva
Desmendura
YellowApple
Skeckoa
Neu Preussische Republik
Nexcandia (may rise to Minarchist State)
Sigvardia
The United Confederacy of Texas (Tentative, may fall due to high tax rates)
Krispy Kremeland
Confederate Nordenkaltian Nations
Rutuba (May fall in the future)
Sidh Ohn
Auxatia (unlikely, but still possible to fall)
Ordysius
Nordwalsh (May fall in the future)
Keventle
Torisakia (May fall in the future)
West Aurelia
Menelmacar (May fall in the future)
Velika Koroshka
Anarchist States Of America
Greater European Federation
Saltha
Wizlandia
Erevaria
Azadshire (May fall due to monarchy (very unlikely))
North America Inc (Likely to rise in the future)
Freemopia (May fall due to minimum wage, free HealthCare and affirmative action)

This Nation is on par with mainstream Libertarian Ideology. This nation may have some liberal/conservative leanings, such as a small welfare system

Moderately Libertarian Country

This nation has some freedoms, but not too many. This is likely where Conservative, Liberal and Centrist nations will lie

Authoritarian Regime
Dracolich
Greater Istanistan
Inquilabstan
Soled (likely to fall to Totalitarian Regime in the future)
Imperium Sidhicum
Aushanit
Memell
The Batorys
Kumuri
East Equestria (May fall to Totalitarian Regime in the future)
Zarodia (May fall to Totalitarian Regime in the future
Stasnov
Olwe
Motokata (may rise to Moderately Libertarian State)
West Aweri
Britanania
Zanera (May fall to Totalitarian Regime)
Middleton St George
Makaar
The BaRen
Ardoki
Breheim
Diopolis
Greater Sveriege
Costa Luminosa
Beiluxia
Yulis
Orveleca (May fall in the future)

This nation is pretty authoritarian. The average citizen has little freedoms and little rights, while the government isn't limited and could grow into a totalitarian regime

Totalitarian Regime

If you lived in this nation, the world should pity you. You are constantly stalked by a government agent wherever you are. You have no rights to decide who your leader is, and a few people or a single dictator sets the rules for you and everyone else.

Orwellian Communist Regime

This is as unlibertarian as a nation could get. The average citizen has practically no freedom, the economy is 100% under government watch and control. Even showers and bathrooms have 24/7 CCTV Surveillance. Saying the wrong word could result in capital punishment, and not praising the leader and the government daily can result in life in prison.

You have been given the rank of Moderately Libertarian Nation. You lack privatization, a hard currency and you have a central bank and relatively high taxes for a Libertarian nation. However, you do have good civil liberties, which is why you aren't an authoritarian regime.

Nation Name (Full): The Democratic Judgeship of Nullarni

Type of Government: Democratic Minarchism

Is the legislature Independent? No... There is not technically a legislature.

Was the leader democratically voted in? Yes

Was every member of legislature elected democratically? There is not technically a legislature, because there is technically no law in Nullarni beyond what is codified in the Nullarnish Writ of Governance, (our constitution.) Court precedent has, however, become de facto law in determining fault and damages. So I guess the highest court in Nullarni kind of fills the role of a de facto legislature if binding precedent is considered defacto law... And the highest court is elected democratically... so... Yes?

Does the nation have fair, free and open elections? Yes

Is the government Constitutionally Limited? Yes

Civil Freedoms:

Are people allowed to say whatever they want? Yes

Are people allowed to own as many weapons as they want to? Yes

Are people allowed to practice whatever religion they wish to practice Yes

Are people allowed to associate with whomever they want to Yes

Do citizens have a right to privacy? Privacy is not explicitly a right. Even if it were, I am not sure how it would be enforced or protected differently than it already is.

Do police need warrants with a probable cause? Yes

Is murder, theft and other criminal activities legal? Um... sort of. Murder, theft, and pretty much every other "crime" are not actually criminal cases. The victims or family of the victims must file suit against the perpetrator for compensation for proven damages. Basically, I steal something from you, you can sue me for damages. I kill you, your friends, family, and business associates can sue me for damages. If I repeatedly kill people, those affected can petition the court to take custody of me to prevent further damages. Needless to say, if there is no victim or someone who can prove damages, there is no court case. This means there is no such thing as a "victimless crime" in Nullarni. The state is able to sue for damages, though, in cases where State interests are involved.
Are soft drugs legal? Yes

Are hard drugs legal? Yes

Economic Freedoms:

What is the income tax rate? 0%

What is the Corporate Tax Rate? 0%

What is the sales tax rate? Historically, around 13% however in recent years it has dropped to 1.5% due to the government's increase in non-tax revenue sources.

What is the tariff rate? 0%

How regulated is the economy from a 1-10 scale, 1 being no government regulations, 10 being a Communist Economy 1

Are roads and other infrastructure privatized? Yes

Is welfare and healthcare privatized? Yes

Is education privatized? Yes

Is the law privatized? No... Well... What do you mean? Do you mean things like police or do you mean the courts. If you mean the courts, then no, it is not. If you mean police, then yes and no. There are private police forces and security forces, but there is also state and canton police forces. There are also private investigators and state investigators.

Is the government privatized? No

Is there a national currency, if so, is it backed by something hard? Yes, but it is no longer backed... Its a fiat currency. ;) The only reason there is a national currency is because it is required by the Writ of Governance. The original purpose was to unify several kingdoms and principalities under one currency instead of many. Now, it helps add a level of standardization. I know that if I have my money in shiblon, (the Nullarnish currency,) all or most businesses within the nation will accept my money. This is a good thing. Other national currencies, or bank specific currencies are legal. Even individuals can print their own currencies. But there is no guarantee anyone will accept them. Most, if not all, individuals and businesses accept Nullarnish shiblon, so it allows for smoother and easier transactions.

If yes to the above question, are currencies other than the national currency legal? (this includes Cryptocurrencies like Bytecoin) Yes. And they are often used in Nullarni.

Is there a Central Bank? No. However, the currency is printed, or minted by private mints or printers contracted by the Nullarnish government. The money supply is openly increased every year at a set rate, as defined by the Writ of Governance. The information of who is printing it and how much and how the money is made available is completely transparent and made publicly available. The reason for this is the economy craves certainty. You want to make things as certain and clear as possible to encourage participation and growth in the economy.

Anything Else you want to add? I have read your responses to other nations, and I feel that you may be relying on in game stats a bit too much. NS is not really designed for libertarian or minarchist states, which makes playing one rather difficult. Alizeria is currently transitioning from a highly regulated Keynesian welfare state to a more Monetarist free-market economy and as such the data is liable to change. Major social changes are also underway, with the Liberal government likely to abolish the controversial "whites only" immigration policy and may even decriminalise homosexuality.

In regards to currency, the Alizerian Kros was previously pegged to the NS dollar at a rate of NS$1 = K1.20, however as this was hurting exporters the currency was devalued by the new government and all currency controls were abolished, including the ability of the government to control interest rates.

Again, information is in flux due to the current economic crisis and period of social upheaval currently occurring in Alizeria.

Your attitudes towards economics appear socialist, and combined with your social attitudes this creates the picture of someone who would generally be described as a humanist.
To round out the picture you appear to be, political preference aside, a uncompromising realistic egalitarian with many strong convictions.

The Central Banking System, the lack of a hard currency, high income tax rates and gun control were the main reasons why this nation was given Moderately Libertarian Nation.

Is the government privatized? No government.
Is there a national currency, if so, is it backed by something hard? Platinum credits, backed by platinum, oddly enough... (Almost universally used, but there is no official national currency, just one that's accepted by the population as the main one).
If yes to the above question, are currencies other than the national currency legal? (this includes Cryptocurrencies like Bytecoin) Yes.
Is there a Central Bank? No.

You may want to read my factbook to get a better idea about my nation: http://www.nationstates.net/nation=null ... k/id=23284
