Usually the most likely places to see large multiple blasts is at military installations such as silo fields, defesive lines as well as regional cities that are close to larger cities. the closer the blasts the total volume of fallout increases. Ten 1-10kt blasts over an area of 100-250km2 would produce an decent amount of fallout that would force a lot of precautions

Fair enough, but I don't think there'd be many trenches inside an ICBM field someone would take cover in. I think everyone would be either holed up in a bunker or leaving in a very big hurry long before a nuclear weapon arrived. As for the multiple tactical nuclear weapon scenario, the fallout of each weapon will be extremely limited and shouldn't impact infantrymen in the open further than 5 miles down wind for your typical bombardment of sub-kiloton artillery shells. If they've got CRBN suits they'll be fine for the duration of the intense radiation period unless they stand in the craters before they "cool down" for a few hours.

I believe it was and to a lesser degree still, standard to have some basic earthen defenses in airbases or other areas that may be threatened by aerial attack. Alternatively you could always jump in a drainage ditch.

Subkiloton, yes. It would be limited but it still would be detectable nearly 45km downwind with only a 25kph wind, though this swath of fallout would be only a few km wide. Of course this is for a sub-airburst/surface burst.

OK then. Go jump in a trench and we'll shoot an ICBM at you and see how long it takes for the radiation and air suction to kill you. Im not saying you can't survive the explosion, which depends on other factors, im saying the other things will kill you.

Yeah, jump to the extreme of an ICBM to show that a trench won't protect you.

Body armour won't save you from a nuke either. Guess body armour's worthless.

What is a trench? It's a fortification to protect troops from enemy fire. What's likely to be expended against troops? Not an ICBM. Tactical nuclear artillery shell, rocket, bomb or missile? Hmm, yeah, that sounds almost reasonable. What can a trench protect you against? A tactical nuclear artillery shell, rocket, bomb or missile. Huh. Quite handsomely as well, especially if your trench system is more than just trenches and features dugouts, blindages and other covers.

I'm thinking of using a light recon heli that can map enemy locations, while using one rocket pod to deal with AT teams and the other to deal with IFVs or the like.

Not sure about heat-seeking.
The 70mm CRV-7 rocket has a "precision guided" variant developed (CRV-7PG), which I think is a laser guided weapon.

Just say "my nation invented and produced a CRV-7BLAH heat-seeking missiles", even if it does not yet exist IRL there's nothing unrealistic about the concept.

*nod nod*

To finsih up and hopefully continue onto the next one, Southern Pirates/Tarkan mentioned a lightly armoured car that could drive on water in one of his rps, that with a small run-up, could build up the momentum and with great fat tyres, skim along the surface of relatively flat water. Is this feasible for presumably >5t vehicle?
