Mosquitoes won't do much. Even if you deploy ones carrying diseases. Locusts also would likely be difficult to weaponize. You need a very specific set of circumstances for them to swarm and do the kind of significant damage that people associate with them. You're better of using something small and less dramatic. I think you're missing the point of the discussion. The question was on the topic of introducing invasive species not how bad can we screw up their crop land. It's like walking into a discussion on tank rounds and stating that the tsar bomb would make short work of a tank. It would but it's irrelevant to the discussion.

Dozens. Not an order of magnitude larger, which is what people imagine when you say carpet bombing with nuclear warheads.

My definition of carpet bombing (which I believe to be the same definition in a number of dictionaries military and linguistic alike) is indiscriminately bombing a targeted plot of land in entirety. I don't remember reading anything about how many bombs you had to drop for a bombing to become a carpet bombing so perhaps some of the military experts here could clarify that for us.

If my goal was to spread disease or destroy cropland, then yes. The goal of the Sparky has never been to spread disease or destroy cropland.

You mean an active protection system? It's basically a series of plates with lead shot or something comparable embedded into them over your normal ERA, that gets touched off whenever a rocket comes, I take it? I think there's already a system like that around.
