Are people, public policies, or anything really, racist in your nation?

In Couasia, the government is abhorrently racist by modern standards. Anti-miscegenation and segregation laws are firmly in place, and the ownership of slaves also depends on the race of the owner and the slave involved. The anti-miscegenation laws are in place so as to gradually assimilate all minorities into the white race. People are considered 'white' if they are less than 1/16 of any other race. In practice, this means that a person's great-great-great-grandparents must all be white.

Since almost all services are handled in the private sector, and as a continuation of racist domestic policy, businesses, theaters etc owned by whites are licensed to discriminate against non-white customers with impunity, thus making livelihood of non-whites extremely difficult. This extends so far that if a white man rapes a non-white woman, it will often be thrown out of court; but should the inverse be true, white lynch mobs forming to hunt down and kill the perp and his entire extended family also go unpunished.

In Lolloh, there was much historical racism, and racism continues today.

In some towns, public indecency laws are passed with the intent of arresting ponies for not wearing clothes. Pegasi will also occasionally form vigilante weather groups to obliterate human settlements, usually by creating tornadoes or mass flooding. Unicorns will also play magical tricks on other pony and human settlements, while the occasional human/earth pony mob will string up those of other species for various crimes. However, the government is trying to stamp out these practices, and it has been largely successful. However, dragons also continue to see themselves as superior, and there have been several cases of dragons kidnapping and eating humans and ponies, though these have also been mostly resolved.

Since 1957, the government has been officially and strongly against racism.

Our government officially divides our nation into 12 gens, or races. A person's race is determined by birth. There is no objective difference amongst these races; in this sense, "race" in Themiclesia is perhaps better quantified by "family origin". In any event, a child is regarded as to inherit his father's race, unless other arrangements are made.

It is prohibited to marry within your own race, for it is thought that each race shared one common ancestor; thus, inter-marriage would result in inbreeding.

Due to the small community like nature of Drakadians, people of all races and cultures are accepted into the community. The nation was only recently founded - 1972, and has grown from large scale immigration and growth for decades. Because so many races immigrated from all parts of the world, there is no clear majority race or ethnicity, with Gaelic-Caucasians being the majority ethnicity with 56% whole and 27% mixed ethnicity with minimum 40% G-C.

Racism is not very prominently felt in our society. While every Chinaman has his own ethnic origin, such as Han or Manchu, they feel that they are all part of the Chinese nation, whose boundaries are cultural, nor ethnic.

We have no problem in calling a white or black (or blue, if any there be) person "Chinese" if he is able to demonstrate knowledge in the traditions and customs of China.

Some racism existed between "white" humans of Europe and "black" humans of Africa, this was from the 19th century new imperialism.
But, there was discrimination between Ponies and Zebras.

During the 1800s-1830s, the Syrusian Government oppressed the Turkic people and enslaved them. It was not until 1832 that the discrimination against Turkics were deemed illegal. There was also slavery against Africans, but this was illegalized the same year as the Turkic Discrimination Ban.

Currently, Racism is viewed as bad and the government encourages against it.

All Jume Airese citizens must be at least 1/45th white. They must also have brown straight hair, and blue eyes. If this is not the case, an 'impure' citizen will be left alone until they turn the age of 9, in which they will be strung up on burning crosses. Sorry, that's just how it rolls here.

Judges are 93% more strict towards blacks, asians, and latinos than they are against whites. In some cases, white people can get off of a trial free with absolutely no form of punishment or sanction, no matter how bad or vile the crime was.

The Remnants of Kobol consist of members from the original 13 Tribes of Kobol. There are stigmas from each tribe against the practices of others, but open racism is almost non-existent and highly disapproved of.

There is however racism against outsiders of the nation. Being a space fairing race, beings we encounter are viewed as inferior until proven otherwise. This viewing is less malevolent than simply believing that the encountered beings are simply not as evolved.

The only race we view with open hostility are called Cylons, who the Remnants of Kobol have been at war with for the last decade, or, since our nations first crossed paths and tensions escalated to combat.

Racist as in petty human squabbling over skin color and that stupid stuff or racist as in speciesist? Well, it really depends. The former is widely frowned upon and is thought of as utterly idiotic while the latter is a bit widespread (albeit in mild form). There are no laws regarding it and citizens are allowed to deal with it, so long as they don't go overboard with it.

Not racism, really. Although there are 80 different ethnic groups, almost all of us are African. We might stare when we see foreigners or get confused by the concept of light skin, but it is not fueled by hatred or racism. More curiosity.

Sidhae are about as racist as people ever get, though in their own way.

Since the Sidh race is largely uniform, there is no intra-species racism to speak of - Sidh ancestors deliberately strove to eradicate any visible racial differences along other divisive factors so that there would be no grounds for intra-species racism to begin with. Anyone with a markedly different appearance is most likely a human convert, and although converts are viewed with slight suspicion by many, there isn't much discrimination towards them otherwise.

Aliens and unaugmented humans, however, are fair game. While humans, being the parent species of Sidhae, rank higher than aliens in Sidh racial hierarchy and usually aren't killed outright like xenos unlucky enough to be conquered by the Imperium, they still have to bear the brunt of discrimination and prejudice. Sidhae regard humans as stubborn, ignorant and unenlightened barbarians who must be subjected for their own good, lest they destroy themselves through their foolishness. Humans residing in the Imperium are confined to overcrowded, unsanitary ghettos and forbidden to ever leave them without special permit. Only slaves are exempt from this rule, residing with their masters and being allowed to travel relatively freely through Sidh premises as they run errands for their masters.

While humans have no legal rights, neither do they have any obligations besides performing the occasional menial labour for their Sidh overlords to justify the allocation of resources to sustain them.

Sidhae treat humans not so much with downright cruelty than with intense scorn. In their eyes, humans represent all the worst that Mankind has to offer, all the things that Sidhae strove so hard to weed out from themselves. A Sidh may also despise humans for their inferior genetic makeup and consequently their inferior potential which most humans don't even try to achieve, priding himself on being a product of deliberate and conscious engineering, as opposed to humans who "just happened". A Sidh may also despise humans for historical reasons - their treachery very nearly destroyed the Imperium and the Sidh race during the Age of War, something that Sidhae have never forgotten or forgiven.

Because of the Age of War, seething xenophobia has become the commonly accepted attitude towards non-Sidhae, supplanting the more moderate take of the Emperor's days, when humans were viewed simply as ignorant and foolish, and the possibility of enjoying civil if cool relations with alien species wasn't yet considered an unpatriotic suggestion in itself.

It's illegal for the government to be racist. Anyone government worker who is racist even off duty is permanently banned from gov jobs.
It's illegal for private employers, landlords, home sellers, public stores, schools, colleges, and universities to discriminate based on race.

Freemopia's government is banned from giving aid to Couasia's government and Freemopia banned imports(except imports of live animals) from Couasia and encourages other nations to do the same.

Most Alizerians would deny that they are racist when both they, and their government, very much are.

The two main examples of racism in Alizeria include the controversial "whites only" immigration policy, as well as the commonly held view, based on teachings of the Church of Alizeria, that being black is in fact a sinful lifestyle choice and not something people are naturally.

At present, "the act of being black" is actually a criminal offence, in the same way that homosexuality is. However both homosexuality and being black are likely to be decriminalised in the near future.

The long answer is a yes and no:

No, it is not present within the confines of the nation, as there is legislation decreed by the Grand Dictator, Dane Estey, that every human being is equal to another, each person is equally useless or useful, as the only real difference is height, size, or colour. Government decisions must be made according to this very simple rule, and it is enforced with a close eye and an angry fist. Within Erreulonia racism is more than a simple "He called me black so he should pay and be fired and publicly shamed and be evil" that popular western culture has spawned thanks to this new age of hyper-anti hurt my feelings. Racism goes into a higher charge, and is punishable by enslavement, no matter the colour. What is generally considered racist language is simply non punishable, as it often refers to a person who is useless, as the wide branch of words are not applied to a single colour. This also applies to females, or sexual preference, or any other 'Issues' another could use against another person to discriminate against another. It was clear that within the confines of the nation only personal merit and achievements will gain you your titles, and it is wildly accepted that those called words that apply negatively to 'race', sexual preference, or females, have gained that title because they simply do not live up to standards or expectations.

However there is also a yes involved because the Grand Dictator, Dane Estey, has allowed his peoples the freedom in their personal house and property, witch can include slaves. This is taught is schools that simply blowing off steam inside your house is healthy, and encouraged, for the good of working public order. What is considered racist humour, is also allowed, as long as it is not directed specifically at someone one in public, or told in public. Racism within Erreulonia is general considered to be towards religion, or religious type issues as the general time that anti-'racial' policies have caused people to look else where, this means that those who do not follow the Church of Erreulonia, simply a confirmation of people on either Sunday or Saturday, that come together for good music and listen to inspirational or speakers talk about current events, times in their lives, or to share pleasant stories of varying experiences or messages. This has caused a semi 'racial' difference between the conventional churches, and over-zealous people are often either sent to a drunk tank, or sold into slavery for repeat offenders, as being a extremist person in the religious sense is considered equally, if not as worse as being seriously 'racist'.

As it is such an easily blameable issue, and entire other arm- if not small, has be been specifically trained to weed out false accusations from the truthful ones, this often is seen as government taps and video recording for a two weeks against the accused, as granted by public vote.

Due to having been on a fleet of nomadic starships up until 250 years ago, racism is virtually nonexistent in Lysset. The largest racists in the nation are uneducated Humans (a minority in Lysset's Human population, who are also a minority), who claim that "reverse racism" is present in Lysset's alien population. These accusations are unfounded and biased, and with a few exceptions (mostly riots and extremely bigoted and militant "Christian" churches which were disbanded by police and the government) are shut up by more educated citizens.

Race and species are fundamentally different things.

In Fatatatutti there is some racism among recent immigrants who are not yet used to our society. Children of immigrants are easily assimilated into our non-racist, non-sexist, non-agist way of thinking.

Almost everybody born in Fatatatutti identifies as "mixed race". A common phrase is, "my mother is a native Fatatatutian."

As for species, we treat all non-humans as either food or Alphonse.
