This is all regardless of any learning disorders or mental disorders you may have. We have this thing called "compassion" for all members of society. It appears that many nations out there have not heard of this concept.

Popular opinion holds that, while you shouldn't be outright rude to anyone just because they can't walk or talk well, you also shouldn't be required to go out of your way for their convenience, and few zhedens have the patience to put up with a disabled fellow for too long.

Milder mental disabilities are considered a part of a zheden's personality, and may be considered charming or annoying depending on what exactly the disorder entails. Mood disorders are often poorly understood and frequently made light of, though they rarely lead to any negative discrimination and can even benefit their sufferers. After all, someone who is sad or angry all the time deserves to be cheered up or calmed down as appropriate, something which is often attempted through the offering of friendship or material gifts. On the flipside, knowledge of proper treatment is rare and restricted to the few vassals trained in medicine, so it may be difficult to find real help.

More severe mental disorders, like those leading to hallucinations or delusions, are seen as curses rather than character traits, and are assumed to be the result of immoral behavior. As such, those afflicted not only face severe challenges as a direct result of their illness, they must also deal with the fear and ignorance of their fellows. Such individuals often commit suicide, an act which earns them little sympathy and is considered merely the culmination of their divine punishment.
