Free Time in Your Nation

Postby The Chinese Peoples » Sun Mar 16, 2014 9:52 am

How do your people spend their free time?

In the Republic of Pandas, our citizens lead leisurely lives.

We spend 16 hours a day doing this.

Hi, Earth! I'm Rimarua from the Hazameian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. I'll be handling this account now for Hazamaeia replacing Vice-Minister Ranuwavimranure so he can focus more on his higher duty in the ministry.

I also play badminton and will represent my nation in the next Olympic. At that time, I'll be most likely replaced by my roommate here, Arina. She works at the grocery store next to our apartment.

Why are you saying bad things about me, Rima? I am an author and I own that grocery store!
Oh look! She won the gold medal. Now I should stand her bragging about it.

This is still my eyes though.

Surfing is a popular pastime in Fatatatutti. Since few people can swim, almost drowning is also quite common, though not as popular. Some have managed to combine surfing with another popular pastime, eating bacon.

Confederate citizens tend to be pretty laid back. On coastal areas, all the usual activities - surfing, fishing, boating, the like - are quite common, as is range time and hunting in the lush lowcountry jungles a few miles inland. In the outback, inland jungles, and mountains, typical country activities are pretty common and more dangerous than usual. Hunting is, unsurprisingly, extremely popular, though in the inland jungles and mountains it tends to involve being hunted back. Backpacking, going to the shooting range, horseback riding, and fishing are all popular pastimes, and every single one necessitates the carrying of at least one large-bore firearm. Also, hunting down and exterminating hives or colonies of various lethal insects is both popular and productive - we suspect the popularity is due to the use of flamethrowers.

Tl;dr, the coast and a ways inland are like paradise. The rest of the land is known as "boot camp."

Non-physical activities that are popular in all areas are tabletop wargaming, gambling, and cooking. The lack of high-speed Internet in many areas significantly reduces the popularity of online video games, though single-player and local multiplayer games are still strong sellers.

Any free time spent by the average peasantry would result in going to taverns, inns, seeing family, or vacationing.

Read, go online, play an instrument, listen to music, draw/paint, go to a park, sleep/nap, play sports, play games, it all really depends on what you want to do.

Icatians can do whatever they please, but common pass-times are video games (Up to pro e-sport levels) or chess. Some spend their time working on their next big thing, or doing side jobs. Why they would do that on their free time, though, is beyond our understanding.

There isn't really an answer to this question. Our citizens are all totally individual, so what one person might do in their free time, someone else might hate it.

Sex takes up the vast majority of the average Olwean's free time. However, we have also been known to play various games and sports (Quidditch, bowling, poker, chess and FPS video games are all quite popular), and most Olweans surf on a regular basis. Hiking, birdwatching and other nature-related activities are also popular, and many Olweans practice gardening as a hobby (in fact, quite a few view gardening as serious business, and "Master Gardener" is a title that is spoken here with an amount of reverence and awe that would usually be reserved for royals in other countries).
