We have from right to left...

The White People's Party, known for it's racist bigotry and with only a few seats in Parliament.
The Conservative Party right wing without being totally evil.
The Liberal Democrats very unpopular at the moment.
The New Labour Party, centrist.
The Old Labour Party left wing
The Socialists very left wing with only a few seats in Parliament

plus several microparties with no seats in Parliament.

None, in the usual sense of the word. The vast majority of people here belong to the Maal Cerne Tendency, a faction in Coalition politics which aligns itself with the social, political and religious ideas of the Humanist philosopher Maal Cerne. In a move which angers many in the Coalition mainstream, we continue to label ourselves as "the Coalition" when contacting other civilisations, leading to a great deal of confusion on their part and sometimes undermining the Coalition mainstream in intra-galactic affairs.

There is only one, the Collectivist Party, who officially support Collectivism, Humanism, Imperialism, Nationalism, Expansionism and Technocracy. The Party aim to establish humanity as one powerful, united entity (under the Kolohi state, naturally) which demonstrates the superiority of our species over both non-human aliens and machine civilisations by ruling over them.

The political landscape of Rhodesia has recently underwent a seismic shift. Between 1965 and 1979, Rhodesia had a de facto dominant-party system, with the right-wing Rhodesian Front winning every election following independence. This all changed in 1977 when the Conservative Alliance of Rhodesia split from the RF, dividing the right-wing vote for over 40 years. The Conservative Alliance was more rural based and opposed measures to reach out to African nationalists through land reforms and other economic concessions.

The split in 1977 led to the fall of Smith's government in 1979 which saw the Rhodesian Labour Party win a general election for the first time in its (then) 61-year history under the leadership of Bill Hume. Hume more readily negotiated with the African nationalists and in 1980, Rhodesia finally attained near-universal international recognition. This success coupled with extensive economic and social reforms allowed Labour enough popularity to win two more elections in 1984 and 1988; establishing a mild two-party system in Rhodesia.

Following the election of a hung parliament (where no party has an overall majority) in 2010, the two right-wing parties (Rhodesian Front, Conservative Alliance) formed a coalition. Three years later, the two "re-merged" and re-branded themselves Rhodesian National Party. The House of Assembly, therefore, retains a two-party system with minor representation from smaller parties (such as African nationalists and independent candidates).

However, in 2014, the Senate will be (mostly) elected for the first time. Fifty of the seventy seats will be decided by party-list proportional representation on a provincial basis. This will significantly open the Senate up to smaller parties who, depending on which province they are contesting, will need as little as 78,000 votes to win a seat in the Senate. (Compared to the House of Assembly, where a party needs to win a plurality of the votes in a given constituency).

1. Express an opinion.
2. Wait.

We only have one political party, the LHC Democratic cCmmunist Socialist Party. But the LHC DCSP does not govern the nation. The LHC DCSP does not select, choose, appoint or elect the government. The LHC DCSP only guides the nation, the people and the revolution, in the democratic principles of the revolution:

Every island has its own political system. There are many islands.

Some of them have more than one party, others have an unpartisan system of democracy, or even an unelected nobility. Number of parties? About 60 at least, I guess. None of them have national appeal, though.

How many political parties do you have in your nation? How many are represented? Not represented? (Represented means they have officials in public office actively being members of that certain party) Are any political parties banned?

We're a small nation with just two political parties, both of which are represented in Parliament. There's the National Socialist Brotherhood and the Communist Worker's Party. The NSB currently holds 29/55 seats in the Stag House, while the CWP holds 13/25 seats in the Duma House. Any conservative or libertarian party is strictly banned.

Within the MCT, there are a number of movements. The main two are Legacy, an interventionist, expansionist movement who believe we should do more to promote our way of thinking both within and without the Coalition mainstream, even by military force if necessary; and the Radical Movement, zealous in their attempts to convert those in the Coalition mainstream but far more moderate when dealing with other civilisations. They are far more likely to join the Diplomatic Section and less likely to join the Military.
