You can consider it a light fighter still when compared to the F-15 and F-22A.

You could just apply for AOPAs, which is as close as I get to DPRs.

Or just buy the packages I offer/suggest new ones. Something like that. You're too kind anyhow.

Well since we are already doing French day why not a question from an earlier age. How do you two feel French fighters compared to those of other nations through the ages since before WW1 and up to the present day?

Not an WWI expert, but French were fairly ahead of the aerial game, came up with some decent fighters during WWI - Spad series etc.

Inter-war period, entering WWII was marked by a mixture of fairly mediocre designs (M.S.406) coupled with better designs (Dewoitine D.520) that were, in turn, sunk by poor procurement policy and politics.

Every after 1945 is hot aerial sex.

So which fighter overall do you feel was their best work? And which bits do you think a crazy designer like my self should steal for his designs? :p

Really? I always wondered how they fared in terms of early jet fighters. You know, stuff from the 50's and 60's.

At a guess, you won't be looking into biplanes.

Not to labour the point, but as fighters go I'd say the D.520 is the comfortably superior all-rounder when it comes to WWII France. The country didn't really survive long enough to see the era of post-interwar fighter design with its clever aerodynamics and powerful engines/armament, which means the standard for French fighter was really how they squared up to threats like the Me 109E, and the Dewoitine comes top of the list in that regard.

Really? I always wondered how they fared in terms of early jet fighters. You know, stuff from the 50's and 60's.

By 1949, the French military aerospace industry had recovered on the back of Bloch, who managed to buy up a lot of production facilities and designers. As of 1955, they'd built the first supersonic European fighter, and the next year marked the first flight of the Mirage III (the Mirage IV took to the air some three years later), which pretty much cemented Dassault's ascendancy over the next half century or so. Essentially, the '50s and '60s were the glory days for Dassault - within the space of ten years, they'd managed to pick up the wreckage of the French military-industrial complex and, from it, create fighters and avionics all far ahead of their time.

In general terms, by 1960, France had developed nuclear strike aircraft, a nearly full complement of competitively modern carrier aircraft for the Marine Nationale, transport aircraft, maritime patrol aircraft, one of the most successful helicopter families of its age... not too shabby.

I'd go as far to say that if the D.520 had more power it would comfortably rank among the top aircraft of the early war period.

Alas, there wasn't enough time, but had the D.524 come to fruition... :P

Because of our small size, the Donegali Air Force utilizes many UAV Fighters in order to conserve manpower. UAVs are also used for recon, ground support, air ambulance and more.

The GF-39 is the primary multi-role fighter of the Air Force.
