I assume the "flies like a brick" rhetoric doesn't come from just nowhere.
SR-71s have turning radii variously described as "measured in [US] States", so I can't imagine a Mach 3 Phantom being any better. If you can somehow push it to Mach 3, then a cleaner airframe with the same powerplant could be ridiculously capable.

F-4 was quite maneuverable. The "flies like a brick" comes from comparing it to aircraft like F-15 and F-14.

But how maneuverable would it have been while traveling at Mach 3? I don't think it would be quite as slow to turn as the A-12s, but I think it would still have a lolhuge turn radius.

Ok first some thoughts on why relying on air defense is a bad idea. Air defense, in the form of ground based anti air systems certainly has its place, it can deny enemy airplanes airspace, provide safe air space for your own air force and crews and can defend your forward assets against air strikes and other attacks. However it has a number of problems associated with an over reliance on it. First and most important it doesn't gain you air superiority, and an over reliance on ground systems instead of air systems can mean that you end up loosing the ability to use planes even within your own defended airspace. Secondly it hands the initiative in the air to the enemy, they can choose when, where and how to attack, all you can do is respond to the attack. Making this worse is the fact that a determined enemy can still push his way through your air defense and hit targets of strategic value or attack your air defense and slowly destroy it. In addition your enemy has other means to attack targets and air defense, such as artillery or cruise missiles.

Now problems with your air defense. Stingers cost around $38,000 dollars a piece, so every citizen is being taxed $3,800 dollars per person for this. Now you can spread this cost out over time, but it is still going to be high because you also have to include training costs, maintenance, ammo, etc.

In addition the Stingers feeling is 10,000 feet, which jet aircraft can easily avoid (as can some helicopters). Additionally any aircraft that do enter can for the most part fly fast enough to avoid a lock on and/or shoot down. Helicopters are the one exception, but an opponent can simply keep them out of sight of your forces.

Last it is hard to call them civilians if you are arming them. Against me if they attempted to fight without donning some form of indication I would treat them as war criminals, and would probably shoot them.

The Flying Super Pig utilizes the same general design of the Flying Pig, however it features improvements to the airframe utilizing next gen high strength materials, high voltage high capacity batteries, superior auxiliary power unit, replacement of engines with turbofans. This also reduces the take-off runway distance to 2.5 km.

The Flying Pig fufills the doctrinal requirement of an airlift vehicle for an entire airborne division (equivalent to a brigade in other armies). There are also commercial benefits to this aircraft, it can be sold to foreign customers wishing to airlift their primary battle tanks, space shuttles, or aircraft components.

This aircraft can carry four Lyras primary battle tanks, with a reinforcing platform added to the cargobay. The plane also has the capacity to carry one Maus tank, when transferring them between museums.

For short distance travel (4,000 km), the plane can operate with only three crew members (pilot, co-pilot, flight engineer). For longer distance travel, the plane operates with five crew members, who fly and operate the plane in shifts. Crew members who have just woken up start their shifts as flight engineers. There may be also two additional loadmasters.

The aircraft is propelled by ten massive high bypass turbofan engines. Each engine weighs roughly 4 tonnes, and has a thermal efficiency of 4█%.

The next aircraft to be designed by the Novoburg Design Bureau is expected to be able to churn up concrete airfields at touch down, requiring newly designed airfields to use. The name is anticipated to be the Flying Prae.
