Think of it pseudo bank-account. A majority of its value is based off it's popular usage in "Field of Steel" -Icatus' first Domestic-made international video game- taking the place of micro-transactions as opposed to actual money, although again only domestically. KodiaCoin is accepted in a few stores, also adding to it's value.
