also it's a PSO-1 a 4X optic which is what you should use. 500M is't necessarily "sniper" range more of marksman range.

I've never seen a modern precision optic with less than 6X magnification. Heck, my friend even uses 6X on his AR-15 when shooting out to 500 meters at steel plates (hard to hear the ringing, though).

EDIT: VKS also uses a 6X optic. I'm guessing that's the way to go.

My second-cousin and his family history of being in the Marines meant that he and his son both qualified at 500m with a rifle-length M16 using iron sights. Take that as you will.

I could show you guys some other things I made like the God awful MG-5.

The K2 uses STANAG magazines, M16 slings and bayonets, and it has AR/M16 ergonomics (save for the reciprocating charging handle at 3 o'clock). It also has the operating system and general reliability of the AK series mixed in with a little bit of FAL for its gas block and furniture/folding stock. Add that in with iron sights that are superior to the AR-15 in regards to accuracy and ease of use, and you've got a damn fine rifle.

Why it never became a widespread firearm is beyond me. It's a very solid design; much better than many, many other 5.56x45mm assault rifles one might find.

politics. they always ruin awesome projects.

What? I'm not wrong.
Even if you assume a meek 2000 FPS at the muzzle, the round has an energy of 18,172,711 joules at fifty yards. Imagine how much that would fuck you up if you got shot point blank.

and the recoil would probably turn you into jelly.

Yea but I have to say we look good doing it.
I loved that jacket...

Plus the only countrys with a good name for their marines are Brazil (Corps of Naval Fusiliers), Norway (The Coastal Ranger Command (Kystjegerkommandoen)) and South Korea with their damned ROKM, who simply by virtue of being so incredibly terrifying for an Asiatic nations marine force, have an inherit badass name.

Corpo de Fuzileiros Navais FTW! good thing to hear they will probably be switching their jam-tastic M-16s for glorious FAL-derived nationally-designed IMBEL IA-2 rifles like the rest of the armed forces (army currently uses notFALs and air foce currently uses HK33s.)

Its really not that special goven muzzle climb =/=recoil. Plus, "eliminated 100%" is a dubious claim at best.

just pick one

You get reduce muzzle rise and recoil, or reduced muzzle flash. They're pretty inclusive. Muzzle devices that try and do both don't do either well.
