Short Answer, No.

Scratch that, misread it as each squad member.....

I'd say that one per squad is a bit too low.

Anyway, I figured that I could retool the naval infantry and rename the branch so it sounds less...something.

Ideas?

Just keep naval infantry. It's what they are.

What kind of scope magnification could I expect to place on an integrally-suppressed sniping rifle firing subsonic 10.42 x 45 mm loads?

I'm going for a PSO-1 style reticule on this one, just to mention.

What magnification, though? The VSS is nothing of a "sniping rifle" as I mentioned, so it can't make the 500+ meter shots like I'm trying to push out of my mad creation.

not sure what wiki is citing but it claims 600m while world guns claims 300-400m take that how you will
also it's a PSO-1 a 4X optic which is what you should use. 500M is't necessarily "sniper" range more of marksman range.

I've never seen a modern precision optic with less than 6X magnification. Heck, my friend even uses 6X on his AR-15 when shooting out to 500 meters at steel plates (hard to hear the ringing, though).

EDIT: VKS also uses a 6X optic. I'm guessing that's the way to go.

SDM-R uses a trijicon ACOG 4X32 typically.
SVD is modern enough still uses PSO-1
all I'm saying is that a 6X optic is not Nessecary, and that a 4X optic is more than sufficient.
a subsonic integrally suppressed rifle isn't going to be all the effective past 500m anyways.only Rl example is the VSS It's employed more along the lines of a marksman rifle RL and is used by the most special of forces IIRC

But I I have a theme in naming my "special" banches, it usually involves something from mythology.

The cops here started carrying a second duty pistol about a year ago, cause apparently, fuck reloading.

And no, this does not count as the backup they already carry in a pocket or ankle holster.

Cannons, Missiles or Lasers (MT-PMT)

Postby Vancon » Wed Mar 12, 2014 11:08 pm

On a new topic, I would like to discus anti-ship cannons vs Anti-ship missiles vs Anti-ship Lasers. I would assume that cannons would be simpler since you could carry more ammo however the pitch of a ship on the high seas might ruin their aim. Missiles don't have those problems and they are longer ranged. That being said, I don't think you could carry a vast amount of Missiles on board your ship with warheads that big enough to do a decent amount of damage. Lasers would hit instantly but would need a lot of energy and battery. This would force the ship to be massive just for one laser.

It's done, IIRC, by the USMC, but I've heard that it prevents the leader from doing both his roles (leader and grenadier) effectively.

The modern world disagrees with you, and find that you can carry more than enough AShMs that can kill ships. Cannons are far too short ranged compared to missiles, but longer ranged (although less accurate) than lasers.

Lasers, well, I'm not big on Longsword sized ships whose main weapon only has a range of twenty kilometres or so.
