In 1954, when the workers overthrew the king, the people's leader Vadim Kenin was executed by a middle class man on their parade outside of the king's palace. In basic terms it devestated the nation's people and sent us into a civil war.

Today, an attempt has been made on King Christian II's life in a similar way that his mother, Queen Cassandra IV died. Both were shot on their way home in their carriage. Queen Cassandra IV was shot in the heart, which killed her. King Christian II's would-be assassin was not so lucky, as he tripped and only managed to shoot him in the arm before being knocked off the bridge by a guard. Both assassins were upper-class, and had grudges against the monarchy's decisions on social policy, especially on supporting a progressive tax. King Christian II is in the hospital, and he is doing fine now.

In 1840 of the Pui Haesdanie, High Queen Simia Fuazir II died mysteriously while bearing the royal heir. Her husband, King Fisvod Ofrasivi of A Corza, seized the throne, and moved the capital to Pilvu. There is no record saying that the king murdered his wife, but the people and the government believe he was the killer anyway. It is a widely known fact that only a drop of poison from one of the frogs in our rain forests can lead to cardiac arrest, lung paralysis and death.

On November 10, 1981, Antaeus Restrepo, a veteran of the 1978 Habalanbacushe Campaign, claimed that God had commanded him to obliterate Vice President Yuri Equeros using plastic explosives. Restrepo attached 3 blocks of C4 to the underside of Equeros' vice presidential limousine. The resulting explosion split the limousine, a Vanden Plas Princess, in half, and killed both Equeros, his driver, his bodyguard, and his secretary.

The one assassination that changed the history of the Imperium and that of the known Galaxy as well was no doubt that of the Emperor.
The events that led to the Emperor's assassination were fundamentally rooted in the Sidh political system and succession laws.

In the early days of the Imperium, Sidhae were faced with the challenge of effectively governing an interstellar empire due to the inherent limitations of interstellar communication technology. Transmitting messages to another star system is nowhere near as easy as exchanging information on a planetary network, and requires large and specialized facilities. Furthermore, the transmission is uni-directional, making real-time communication very difficult. For these reasons, a solution had to be found that would prevent the emergent Imperium from dissolving into a confederacy of largely-independent worlds.

The Emperor saw the solution in the Skargh clan system - having a longer history of running an interstellar empire than either humans or Sidhae, they clearly seemed to be an example worth copying. Skargh noble houses would perform local administration tasks independently of the central government, yet remained accountable to it. Thus he created the Clans - fraternal organizations of military veterans that operated as political parties, military forces, administrative units and mega-corporations while being none of the aforementioned, and entrusted their leadership to his closest associates, determining that new leaders and officials within a Clan's territory would be democratically elected from within the Clan every 10 years. Every Clan would be at liberty to govern it's territory as it saw fit within the limits imposed by the Statutes (Sidh equivalent of a constitution), including raising it's own armies and colonizing or conquering new worlds for itself. The Emperor himself retained a sizable dominion and an elite armed force, the Imperial Guard, to enforce his will should any Clan attempt to defy his authority. Most importantly, however, the Emperor set in the Statutes that a new emperor is to be elected for life by all eligible citizens (i.e., Clan members) from among candidates proposed by their respective Clans, should the previous sovereign die or abdicate from throne.

This system and law worked effectively throughout the Age of Peace that followed the brief War of Terra and the Treaty of Terra in 2124. However, while the Imperium experienced an unprecedented period of growth, prosperity and expansion in this century-long era of peace, so too did the flaws of the Clan system become obvious. Without a common external enemy to unite against, the Clans would devolve into constant bickering, corruption and vying for power, at times going as far as violent skirmishes near and on disputed worlds. Furthermore, when the Emperor informally announced his intent to retire from politics within the next 5 years in 2230, this only added oil to the fire as the Clans were now also tempted by the prospect of electing one of their own as the new Emperor of Sidhae in a very near future.

Disgusted at how the Clans had become the very thing that he and the original Sidhae despised, and seeing how his most likely successor would come from one of the four most powerful Clans (which were unsurprisingly also the most corrupt), the Emperor decided to upset their aspirations by announcing a candidate of his own - his daughter. The to-be Empress was well-educated in statecraft, strategy and diplomacy by her father, very popular with the people and also very unwilling to assume the throne - exactly the qualities the Emperor was looking for in his successor.

The Emperor's decision wasn't technically illegal under the Statutes, which defined a Clan as a fraternal union of military veterans in control of sufficient territory to supply at least one legion of troops and one armada of ships - the Emperor personally controlled a considerable domain of developed worlds and held command of the thirteen Imperial Guard legions with their attached armadas, which technically made him more than sufficiently eligible. However, since the Emperor's domain and his Guard weren't formally recognized as a Clan, this caused an uproar among the great Clans which condemned his decision a violation of his own laws and a blatant infringement on their rights, accusing the Emperor of nepotism and attempting to establish tyranny based on bloodline rather than merit, that ran contrary to the very ideas he preached.

The lesser Clans which didn't have the resources to compete with the Great Four for the throne came to terms with the Emperor's announcement rather quickly and eventually even announced their support - after all, the Emperor's daughter was a well-liked and popular personality among the general populace, hopefully wouldn't forget her supporters if successfuly put on the throne, and lastly lacked the ample political experience of her father and could therefore be manipulated more easily. The Great Four, however, remained adamant that the Emperor's decision was unlawful and demanded for him to resign.

The situation was becoming increasingly unstable. The Federation of Mankind, with whom the Imperium had maintained cool, if civil, relationships since the Treaty of Terra, quickly picked up on the events in the Imperium and offered the Great Four their support - removing the Emperor who intended to ultimately unify all Mankind under the black Aquila banner of the Imperium from power, hopefully replacing him with someone less competent and determined, was certainly in their political interests.

Ultimately, the situation devolved to the point where the leaders of the Great Four approved the unthinkable - the assassination of the Emperor and his daughter. The Empress was at the time touring the Imperium's lesser Clan space with a large retinue frome the 1st Guard Legion that was normally stationed on New Aedun as a show of force, to display her supporters that she could stand her ground in the event of a civil war. This left the capitol of New Aedun underprotected, enabling a team of assassins to infiltrate the Imperial Spire on September 1, 2232, catching the Emperor just as he had given his bodyguards a few hours off, apparently not expecting to be attacked in his own home. Although the Emperor resisted the attackers fiercely, killing a number of them and injuring more, he suffered multiple wounds and was eventually overpowered and stabbed to death multiple times in a manner deliberately reminiscent of Julius Caesar's demise just as his bodyguards rushed to the scene, driving away the remaining assailants. According to a semi-legendary account, his last words were: "Now the madness begins..."

At the same time, the Empress and her entourage were attacked by an overwhelming force of the Traitor Clans, barely escaping in a single ship, the Luminon while the rest of her companions sacrificed themselves to delay the pursuers. The following Flight of the Luminon became a month-long race against time to New Aedun to assume throne and command of the Imperial Guard as the Imperium around descended into chaos of civil war.

The Traitors also spread false propaganda accusing the Empress in organizing the murder of her father to assume the throne in his place, a lie that served to invigorate their own troops and give second thoughts even to many otherwise loyal to the Empress. The following years saw a human-Skargh coalition invade the war-torn Imperium, heralding the unprecedented holocaust of the Age of War.

The assassination of 'Mr. Adelein' the de-facto leader of Soled from March 1988 to April 1990. Mr. Adelein's gender and personality remains unkown, but we do know how Adelein was assassinated.
Mr. Adelein was out in (he/she's) car with 4 bodyguards when a soldier named Petero Lokorov (today the chairman of Soled) appeared about 20m infront of the slow-moving car and begun to shoot at the car with an AK-47. Mr. Adelein was killed by 5 gunshots. 2 of the bodyguards were killed while the other two surrendered. Adelein's remnants and the location of the assassination is hidden from public.

In 1985 when Bill Randson, late monarch of Zeganas, shot Robin Oswald in the back of the head, Oswald's last words were "Your evil capitalist regime will collapse harder than mine" right before his death. His words never came to be. This assassination is more celebrated than mourned.

[The Antalyian Republic]

On August 14, 1983, the notorious Tomaas Morten was given an assassination job by the Lustig Corporation - he was being sent to murder Republican politician, Sjarren Mikolovski. There were seven other men carrying out the mission alongside Morten. At approximately 5:00pm on that same day, Morten shot a bullet into Mikolovski's head, killing him. Three of the men captured told police that Tomaas was payed $50,000 to carry out the assassination.

The most notable assassination in our history was, without a doubt, the assassination of King Ælfræd IV and his consort, Queen Edcwifyu, in 1615 outside of the Palace of Wethfex, where the court of Phylarchus is located.

Ælfræd had just passed the Fifth Edict of Spirituality, in which he ordered the replacement of Phylarch Traditional Religion as the official religion of the Kingdom, setting it to be Roman Catholicism. This was a widely criticized act that fueled anti-crown sentiment and led to the formation of a group calling for the abdication of the King and have his successor be his youngest son, Prince Æthelstan, who maintained Phylarch Traditional Beliefs.
It is customary in the Phylarch court for the King to exit the Great Hall after giving a decree and to receive commoners' petitions outside. In this ceremony, the petitioners form a line and approach the King personally, handing him their request. On October 8th, 1615, Ælfræd began to receive petitions as usual. About 10 minutes in, a younger male petitioner reached the front of the line, bowed, and reached up to give his document to the King. When Ælfræd took the document and was momentarily distracted, the man produced a dagger and stabbed the King in the chest, killing him instantly. In the commotion, a co-conspirator rushed from the middle of the line and stabbed the shocked queen repeatedly, also killing her.

Grand Commander Griffith Junior was shot 15 times in the chest at point-blank range with a Five Seven handgun on the steps of the mausoleum of Griffith the First at Mussolini Square during the Magna Polis Uprising.

In 1511 just before Christmas Alagaisian Prime Minister Volga was murdered by political rivals and revolutionary spies. At the time we were fighting for independence against them. The politicians cooperated with the spies who were dressed in Alagaisian guard attire. After being shot by the rebels, they were chased off. A fellow politician went over to his side when he called for help. Volga was then stabbed and thrown out the window of his office by the politician Tritic. Tritic was later hung for treason by the new PM Altoona. Altoona however, would end the war not a few months after Volga's death.

Wesley Jaybird was the last People's Party President in 1680. Elected in 1674 and re-elected in 1678 he began to impose stricter guidelines for business and merchant trade in Marshonia. A small merchant, John P Hooch, lost most of his money due to these policies. His wife divorced him and his only son died of Yellow Fever a month later at 6 years old. Driven mad, he purchased a small pistol and walked to a local speech being delivered by Jaybird. There, he shot Jaybird twice in the chest and once in the leg. Jaybird died the next day. The People's Party would disband 2 years later.

Gerald Doctors was the VP of Mikael Blots in 1824-1826 until Mikael was assassinated by an insane serial killer. When Doctors took over, he continued Blots's policies. He was re-elected and in 1832 he was taking a tour of Marshonia by steamboat. Steamboats were an experimental technology, and the engines exploded disastrously. The steamboat SS Henrietta sank to the bottom of Little Mount Townsend River in flames, and there were no survivors. Only the head of Doctors was recovered of his body. While not officially an assassination, many speculated and many still speculate that this could have been an elaborate plot by extremists.

Andrea Mortician was elected in 1931, and was the last President assassinated. While most people loved her, there were others who truly hated her. A brilliant woman with a bright future, she was assassinated by a far left extremist named Carl Wheatman. In 1932, just 10 months into the Presidency, she was shot in the upper spinal chord leaving a town hall after giving a speech. The man missed the head and was quickly shot by nearby guards who noticed him in the distance in an abandoned factory building. Weathers died within minutes but Mortician survived. When she awoke the next week, her speech was garbled and she had the brain of an infant. The permanent spinal injury left her mentally retarded and in great physical pain. While it was debated over wether to pull the plug and end her suffering, an unknown assassin cut the plug and killed her. Wether out of pity or hatred we may never know....

Pete Blackmore, our 11th president was murdered in 1865, two years after his term was over. Murderer was never caught but it is speculated that he was someone who wasn't content with Blackmore's rule and wanted to avoid getting caught by bodyguards so he murdered Blackmore after his term.

The most historically significant one was the killing of Emperor Hawthorne III in 817 a.i. His death at the hands of rebel assassins from the penal colony of Avernum sparked the Empire-Avernum war and ultimately ended with the independence of Avernum.
This happened more than thirteen hundred years ago, but its repercussions still shape our world as it is today.

ASSASSINATION of ELYSIUM

The assassination of the First Edicere was a notable one. The First Edicere (Elysium I) created the Quidtovians and was worshipped, even granted godly robes and surged wings. Due to his biologically immortal life, his seven-hundredth day dawned and bleach was slipped into his medicine. The bleach burned his insides, and Elysium's disorientation to the new worlds, he didn't know how to cure the bleach. After thirty minutes, Elysium was found dead in his bedroom by his bodyguard, Arcturus Tigger. The murderer was never caught.

Now nobody dares to speak Elysium's name, and not even the Ediceres dare to live in his palace. The cities of New Elysium and Old Elysium are now slanged, even by the government and royal family. Shortly after Edicere Elysium II was born, he was killed fatally, his blood filling the entire Old Elysium palace, where Elysium I lived.

Stephan Reading, the lone assassinated leader in Saint Jamesian history.

Stephan Reading, the tenth Prime Minister of the Saint James Islands, was assassinated on the battlefield of San Ignacio on 5 July 1939. The perpetrator, a Confederation loyalist angry about the Confederation's defeat in the Liberation of Macaña, wanted to strike back at the perpetrator of the strike on his country as a last hurrah of the Confederation in the province. This led to a major upheaval in the Commonwealth political system that nearly caused the downfall of the incumbent Liberal Government and the entire parliamentary democracy that Reading had led for the past five-and-a-half years.

The aftermath immediately became controversial when Richard Helling, the Chancellor of Accounts under Reading, demanded to be appointed the caretaker Prime Minister until the Liberals elected a proper leader. Given that Helling was running for the actual leadership, this was deemed objectionable by the other contenders, who didn't want Helling to use the office to gain an unfair advantage. President James Harman resolved the conflict by using his prerogative to select a Prime Minister, usually limited by political convention, to appoint Leader of the National Assembly Jacques-Pierre Amouri to the office until the Liberals selected a proper leader, thereby setting a precedent that a caretaker leader should be appointed from those not running for the actual post itself.

At the time, the Liberals allowed any provincial branch of the party to reject a leader elected by the parliamentary party. A rotation had also been established between the northern and southern provinces, with the two regions alternating in the leadership in turn. Since Reading was from the northern Macaña, the new leader was to be chosen from the southern provinces. However, those in Jalisca province, which fancied themselves their own region at the time, objected to this, arguing that they were "overdue" for the position. Each time a leader was selected by the parliamentary party, the Jalisca branch issued its veto.

The Liberals spent two months in a stalemate as the party attempted to find a leader acceptable to the Jalisque. When the party realised that it could not, the Liberals expelled the Jalisque branch and proceeded to a new ballot, which selected Richard Helling as leader. Now possessing the unanimous approval of all the provincial branches, Helling was duly sworn in as Prime Minister, 64 days after Reading's assassination. The party would also approve an amendment to the election rules that eliminated the role of provincial branches in the selection of the national leader of the Liberals, the most major change to come in the wake of the assassination.
