What's your national dish or drink?

Most of Hyfling's delicacy's are fusion based, owing to our multicultural nature. The most well known, and bizzare, of these is probably boiled egg bread. A large, salty, cheese covered loaf of bread with boiled eggs, olives and bacon within it. It has to be eaten within two days (on account of the eggs). Kind of like a non-meat based scotch egg.

National dish: Equum Carnes rotulis, commonly called Rotulis or Horse rolls. Although the name of the recipe says “chops”, what this dish is made of is horsemeat rolls.

Ingredients:

8 horsemeat slices

100 gr Pecorino Cheese

80 gr lard

200 ml red wine

Tomato sauce

1 onion

Olive oil

Garlic

Basil

Parsley

Salt and Pepper

Make the rolls placing in the centre of each slice a small piece of lard, julienne-cut Pecorino cheese, parsley, garlic, salt and pepper. Secure the rolls with a cord. Heat the olive oil and pan fry with wine, preparing in the meantime the tomato sauce with chopped onion and salt. Once ready, place the rolls in the sauce and keep them at low heat making sure they don’t stick. For the last 5 minutes, add the basil. Serves 4.

Ramen noodles - Japanese food is very popular in Wardie land, so much Japanese food is eaten a few Japanese dishes are considered national dishes, Ramen being one of the most popular dishes

National drinks - Ale, Wardie land ale is usually based on the northern English style of ale popular in Yorkshire

Sake, like Japanese food, Japanese drink is well liked in Wardie land

It is difficult to decide on a national dish, as each provincial region has their own distinct cuisines. However, there are a number of common dishes that appear in most if not all of the provinces. The largest of which being Fahstenbru, a traditional stew made from root vegetables, minced beef and served with crusty bread.

An alcoholic beverage which could be considered 'national' is borogmine. It is made from fermenting the root of a plant which grows around marshes, bogs, swamps and lakes. The root is wide and white, and incredibly flexible. Once fermented it has a strong bitter flavour and properly distilled is served at around 75% proof

OOC: I grew up in a norwegian town in Minnesota. I once went to a local diner that served lutefisk at certain times in the year. I almost threw up just smelling it.

Our national dish is a meat that is covered in a delicious sauce made of a combination of various herbs and spices. The meat itself is either harvested from avians, a species of the genus Felis that is native to northern Mammalia, or large lizards. It is quite exquisite.

The Sarkanash is the national dish of the Carcorodine Realm, being similar to beef teriyaki except sliced far more thinly to cook faster and is basically marinated in bacon grease for 10 minutes. It is served with bacon on the side, because the grease needs to be made from something and why would you ever waste bacon when it can be a side instead. Though beef is the traditional meat in a Sarkanash, pork, chicken, or horse meat is also sometimes used. That last one is usually not served to foreigners, though it is actually the most popular in many regions. A variety of sauces and glazes are also common.

As tradition dictates, it is also always served with booze. Because honestly we will exploit any opportunity to serve booze.
