So I'm looking to draw a tank for my FT main and over the course of browsing for inspiration a while back I found this. Is that track design actually possible or is it silly?

Track design is possible.

I doubt it's better.

It is physically possible but looks like it has rather limited vertical or horizontal travel space for the road wheels.

Yeah I see it now. If I use it, I think I'll draw the diagonal track to be longer to give more room.

Needs to be higher, or at least have smaller return rollers, or you won't be able to absorb vertical shock or even movement. It'd make it a bit of a useless cross-country tank.

You'll also want to get rid of the weird bars on the side, because they're going to get dirt and mud into your tracks for no particular reason and clog them up like nobody's business.

Also a quick guess, but given that the sprocket + transmission would almost certainly have to be at the back (given how low slung that front idler is), wouldn't this arrangement increase track wear by a fair bit while requiring more power input to pull the tank over level ground by increasing the distance of ground over which the sprocket needs to pull the tracks? It doesn't seem all that practical, to be honest... :S

Nominations are closed, and the poll is now up until the end of this thread.

Standard rules apply: no multiple voting as one individual or anything of that ilk, please, thank you. :P

I vote for me.

:D

Anyway, had some time on my hands and made a lot of progress with my Shadhahvar 2 tank. I like it. I sure hope you guys like it as well.

Recently had a very bad review of some sketchup designs and I am afraid I have left 'the zone'. Hopefully the Shaddy 2 can redeem myself.

Sorry guys. But my vote is on the guy that provides me with Anime.
Purpelia does not reflect my actual world views. In fact, the vast majority of Purpelian cannon is meant to shock and thus deliberately insane. I just like playing with the idea of a country of madmen utterly convinced that everyone else are the barbarians. So play along or not but don't ever think it's for real.

Don't let the bad reviews let you down, you get plenty of that sort of thing on the internet. Isn't that why you put it up in the first place - to improve, or to otherwise defend your work?

Whatever the case, we'll be the judge of thing - show us shiny new tanx plox :>

My first major contribution for today will be an exemplar image of what your tankers/tankists ought to look like, courtesy of Hungary:

Speaking of tracks, any idea on how well mine would perform? The grousers would be straight with no gaps or anything along them.

Nope. No time. Much to study, little to be free. Spends free time posting to clear mind.

I would agree if not for the fact that ethnic Stahnese have no facial hair. And that our tanks are crewed by girls women.

NO facial hair?!!! !!!_!!!

Dude. Why?

Stahn wrote:What would you do with the anime if someone provided you with some?

NSFW.

Also, I was referring to Oaledonia and his constant stream of pictures he posts of girls meshed with various combat machinery.

Aww. As for the bars, looks like the artist's original intent was for them to be armour. Well, I shall shelve it for the moment. Still whirring away trying to redo my PT tanks.
