Much. See the level of the ground for the Tulip?
That's a baseplate jammed into the ground. It's surprisingly deep.

Heavier examples can be "up to" 400kg unladen, or 550kg if "designed for carrying goods" (which may or may not include its trailer).

A half ton is a lot of cargo capacity, and I don't think you'd be getting away with much less than a Huey. An MH-6 could lift that, but at the expense of its pilots or fuel.
Soviet mechanised formations featured GMG and ATGM platoons at that level.

Do not underestimate MH-6s. The nasty fuckers WILL get you, either by a 6-man lodrag squads or this

Image

EDIT: I think I got the perfect air assault platoon figured out

3x MH-6 , each w/ 6 man dismount squad
1x AH-6 , w/ platoon commander & 2ic as pilot and copilot, for command and fire support

y/y

An MH-6 has a "useful load" of less than 700kg. Its two pilots plus a large quad and trailer will preclude any fuel weight.

So, in a way... No.

Tyulpan is best to look at for what is closer to a SPG than things like 120mm mortars.

hummm, how much recoil does a mortar produce?

Depends on mortar.

Depends on the size. I believe less than a similarly sized actual gun, but a 350mm mortar is still going to be huge.

whats the biggest mortar that could be internally carried? (ei not requiring a massive base plate)
It could always use more missiles!

Inside an APC? Probably ~120mm.

dats crazy bro.

Anyhow. Google Drive is fucking amazing. Imagine creating storefronts with Forms tied to Spreadsheets. Holy fuck. It's like Access and Excel without all the headaches, and with the cloud bit figured out from the get go.

CREDIT GOES TO ANEMOS MAJOR

Here's an example of what can be done.. (remember to choose IFV) a little form to buy Anemos' MA9A2

Which shows up nicely like so

I was too lazy to do it for all variants, but it is doable. You need the storefront, if you have that already figured out, this is more or less a piece of cake. And yes it can be done so that it both looks good and is functional showing all sales clearly with well organized details.

E: Give it a try, I'm sure you'll figure it out in no time, if you're interested that is..

But really, GDocs is groundbreaking. Before this to be able to do the same thing you'd rip your hair out trying to get Access to work like you wanted it to ( for me at least  ), and that's not even going into the "cloud" bit.

E2: Unless I completely missed an online (and free) service capable of doing that.

For my mechanized infantry who ride in IFVs that pretty much have the armament of a BMP-3 (100mm gun, 30mm autocannon) do away with man-portable AT weapons altogether Y/N?

Why get rid of the weapon? The vehicle will be able to carry better/heavier weapons than the infantry and more ammo to boot. There would be little point to removing it.

I meant that since the 100mm gun would provide significant anti-tank capability through GLATGM, perhaps the infantry could do away with their own MANPATs or leave them in the vehicles unless the situation calls for it (built-up areas, maybe).

Big No here to be honest. MANPATGMs can and often outperform GLATGMs. Just compare the Bastion (550-750 mm RHAe after ERA depending on model) to even an RPG-29 or RPG-32 (750mm RHAe after ERA), let alone something such as a newer generation MILAN (~880mm RHAe after ERA) or the Metis-M (950mm after RHAe). Even the Refleks missile for the 125mm only gets about 900mm RHAe after ERA.

GLATGMs are good at improving vehicle firepower, but can't outperform MANPADATGMs or the like.

The GLATGM of a BMP-3 and the man carried AT weapons are very different types of weapon. The ATGM is a long ranged weapon, while the hand carried ones are meant to be short range and carried with the infantry forward. Also, it'd be bad as if the IFV is taken out your squad will loos all it's AT capability. Keeping them with hand carried AT weapons will at least keep them capable of destroying vehicles. Also, hand carried AT weapons tend to be useful for more general use, as you can change the warhead from AT to things like HE, thermobaric, smoke, etc. and other things which are useful to have around.

They are organised into hundreds of independent companies or battalions or else assigned to bases, detachments, or are on loan from a pool. You don't organise them. You're doing it wrong, basically.
