America is so bad it was the only NATO country to be planning serious operational counterstrokes against a Warsaw Pact invasion.

Everyone else sat on their hands and didn't bother because they were too poor, insignificant, or both.

It's a weird gas operated/API hybrid revolving gun. Also known as a mechanically complex monstrosity that adds ridiculous amounts of weight and mechanical problems.

Even automatic large caliber cannon would not be built like that. The "bolt" would have be absolutely enormous, it needs to absorb the recoil of a tank shell! Blowback also allows significant amounts of gas to escape from the breech. In a MG this is mostly an annoyance. In a cannon fired inside a closed space this would be horrendous. And the "open bolt" is hardly compatible with NBC pressurization. It would prevent proper obturation.

It rivals the strength of a thousand milimeters of Chobham armor

I....think that system uses TOMB STONE, but I can't recall, either way, i should work. E: I was wrong, it doesn't. SA-20 it appears.

Those SAM's already have search radar on their own.

the SA-15 (TOR) Have search radar in practically each launcher vehicle. All needed is basially a command center to manage its target.

Same goes for the SA-11 (Buk) It's already have its own search radar the 9S18 "Snow drift"

While SA-21 have plenty of search radar options.. like 91N6, 64N6E (Both are "Big bird" family) Nebo family, RLM Family and 9L6N "cheeseboard"
and that 36D6 "Tin shield" (Though this one is not only used for SAM search radar but also general purpose air defense radar)

The one you may need is some command center like Poliana or Ranzhir to integrate inputs from those radars and distribute targets evenly for the SAM's.

Would equipping my soldiers with a type of rifle that was a prototype in WW2 be realistic in modern combat? I know nations today still use older bolt action rifles in combat in the real world, so I was wondering if I could use a rifle from 1944/45 as a weapon in combat now.

The SA-21 uses the GRAVE STONE, which is just an upgraded version of the TOMB STONE. Can't recall what the Russians improved with it, though.

But as for now I'm going with the TIN SHIELD, either in it's towed or mast mounted version.
