Mahdah

Mahdah(Turkish:Mahdaviye), Officially the Imperial Emirate of Mahdah(Mahdaviye Emperyal Emirlik) is a peninsula country located mostly in North Alkharania in Eastern Sondria. Mahdah is bordered by four countries: North Alkharanian Republic to the west; Zerlos to the North West; Titiancia to the North East, and Unilisia to the east. The Lutherian Ocean is to the east; the Mahdavian Sea to the west and the Gulf of Kahsan to the north which makes Mahdah a important nation in trade as it shares a strait with the nation of Rawneij.

Mahdah has been inhabited since the Paleolithic age. Including various Ancient Mahdavian civilizations. After the conquest of the country by the Alkharanian Empire the country was 'Alkharanianized' which continued until the decline of the Alkharanian Empire and the split of Mahdah and Alkharania later on fueling the Crusade wars between Mahdavian Islamic kingdoms and the decaying Empire. After those wars these kingdoms were absorbed into a bigger kingdom and created the Sultanate of Mahdah which lasted until it's fall after the Eastern War.

Mahdah is a theocratic, semi-absolute monarchy with a diverse culture stemming for hundreds of years. The country's official language is Turkish a Mahdavian language that strived since the migrations of the western arab like peoples to the east.

Etymology

The name Mahdah(Turkish:Mahdaviye) can be divided into two components: the ethnonym Mahdav and the abstract suffix -iye meaning 'owner' , "land of" or "related to" (originally derived from ancient Hellenic and Alkharanian suffixes -ia Mahorkia(Moupkia) and Murchia; and later from the corresponding arab suffix-iyya in Mahdaiyya. The first recorded use of the term Mahdav as an autonym is contained in the old Mahdavian inscriptions of the Gokdaviya(Celestial Mahdavs) of central Mahdah (c. 8th century)

The common term Mahdah first appeared in the 13th Century and is derived from ancient Alkharanian as Murchia

The Hellenic cognate of this name, Moupkia was used by Hellenic scholars from the east in a book called De Aministrado Imperio through their use, "Mahdavs" always reffered to Mahdah.

History

The Mahdavian Peninsula, comprising most of modern Mahdah, is one of the oldest permamently settled countries in the region of Sondria. Various Ancient Mahdavian populations have lived in Mahdah, beginning with the Neolithic era until the fall
of Cerxus The Great ruler of the Herucid Empire(C. 330BC). The earliest recorded inhabitants of Mahdah were the Mahdavi and Maravi settlements which had lived co-existing for years before intertwining into kingdoms across the land. During the 19th Century BC, the Nasiriyaians to the north conquered in parts of North Mahdah. During the rise of the Ereskus Empire, these Nasiriyan lands were recaptured by the Ereskusians with the former inhabitants made into slaves.

During the Ereskus Empire, the first capitol was constructed named 'Ereskupolis'. Mohan II formerly the ruler of the Ereskus people's dies and his heir Mohan the third takes the throne. Slavery was then incorporated into the empire, mostly made of people from Nasiriyah. During the last years of Mohan III's life nomadic tribes savagely pillage the empire and cause the Pillage Wars which kill hundreds and cause the Empire's decline. Following a plague which causes the illness of Mohan III, a Nasiriyan noble named 'Huessien' kills the dying leader and takes the throne.

With the Huessien dynasty beginning a purge is conducted in the newly established empire, in the 13th Century BC he orders the killing of former Mohan III loyalists and others who were involved in the former government. Later the neighboring Alkharanian Empire invades Mahdah and overruns the Huessien Dynasty and it's lands. Huessien negotiates for him to stay in power in return to serve the Alkharanian Empire to spread it's ways in Mahdah. By the 12th Century BC, Mahdah had assimilated into Alkharanian Empire which during the period of being a colonial state had brought along a man from Nasiriyah who held the beliefs of Islam.

Raj Frut becomes the birth place of the religion and soon spreads throughout the many towns and cities. By the late 12th Century BC, the Alkharanian Empire fell into decline and disarray allowing several Islamic Kingdoms that established themselves following the decline to join together and invade the Empire. The Crusade wars beginning in the 11th Century BC, begun with the invasion of the decaying Empire which had so far showed success in many battles. Eventually the declining Empire licked it's wounds and fought back, reclaiming lost land and even spear heading into Mahdah before a stalemate was reached.

During the stalemate, citizens belonging to the land still loyal to Huessien himself had led a revolt and overthrew him, and had him publicly executed along with his family. The Islamic Kingdoms after the overthrow of the Huessien Empire join together under their religious beliefs and establish the 'Sultanate of Mahdah' which officially unites the lands into one nation. During the Sultanate, a revival of Mahdavian culture and customs happens along with achievements in Islam and technology. Under the leadership of Mustaf The Great, In the 9th Century AD a unknown entity of foreigners invades the eastern parts of the Empire causing political instability in the east. Many peasants in the east lead revolts which are ultimately put down.

By the 12th Century Mustaf The Great gathers his armies and leads a campaign to reconquer the eastern lands he lost. By 1230 AD , the Empire was once again whole. One year later Mustaf the Great dies in battle and his son takes the throne as Mustaf II. During the 13th Century advances in technology and other areas brings peace to the empire, during this a Islamic revival movement was gaining tons of followers, and even established a greater hold of Islam onto the populace by the 16th Century.

In the late 17th century the continuing reign of the Mustaf blood line continues with a Second Empire under Mustaf III and later Mustaf IV. During this time as well the former enemies from the Alkharanian Empire establish relations with the Empire as a classical period forms and spreads throughout the Empire. Bringing art, romanticism and intellectualism to the empire. The Mustafa Palace was then considered a Architectural masterpiece by Classical artisans.

In the 20th Century, Pax Mahdavia was called by Mustaf IIV who declared a period of peace in the Empire after signs of increasingly peaceful conditions internaly and externally. The Mustaf Dynasty continues it's advocation and mandatory practice of Islam across the empire, advances in technology and other fields begin to flourish through the country as the period of peace lasts for seventy nine years.

Politics

Mahdah is a semi-absolute representative theocratic monarchy. Since it's foundation as the Imperial Emirate in 1971, Mahdah has developed a strong tradition of maintaining religious tolerance and a strict follower of Islam. Mahdah's constitution governs the legal framework of the country. It sets out the main principles of government and establishes Mahdah as a unitary centralized state.

The Emperor of the Imperial Emirate is the head of state and has a largely ceremonial and administrative role. A heir can claim the title of Emperor after the death of the former Emperor or if he is found of committing a traitorous act and is impeached. Lucid Augustus III was made Emperor after the last heir to the Mustaf bloodline died in August 1978. Executive power is invested in the Emperor and the Supreme President while legislative power is invested in the Grand Assembly. The Emperor also has under his disposal the Emperor's Council, which assist the Emperor in making decisions for exercising executive power.

The judiciary is independent of the executive and the legislature, the head of this is the Chief Justice who then has the Council of Justice answer to him. The Ministry of Justice also fall under this hierarchy and exercise power over the courts in the nation. The Supreme President is elected by the Election Committee which gathers votes from the Grand Assembly and decides on the candidate to make Supreme President. The candidate also runs with a partner who becomes Vice-President.

Human rights in Mahdah have been controversial in the past decade as Islamic style justice has been carried out on criminals. It is also reported that prisons in Mahdah are actually political detention camps that house political opponents and criminals of the country which these prisoners are treated harshly and poorly although living in decent conditions. Journalists in the Imperial Emirate that are from foreign countries are frowned upon and cases have arised where journalists have been placed under arrest for 'terrorism' or 'espionage'. Thousands of others have also been charged with denigrating the state or insulting Islam.

Foreign Relations

Foreign Relations have in the past decades been mostly slim for the Imperial Emirate. The most positive relations maintained would be with the Empyreal Reich of Tiami a member state of the UE. The Union has been a mostly neutral relationship with the Imperial Emirate and have recently begun operations against the terrorist organization, Al Hafa. Relations with other nations in the region are either none or slightly strained.

Religion

History of Alkharanian Islam:

Islam on the Alkharanian continent began in the village of Raj Frut where a man from Nasiriyah named Muhammad had claimed that he had a conversation in a dream of his about revelations from God which were conveyed to him from the arch angel Gabriel. These revelations were written down in what is now known as the Qur'an and was memorized and spread by his companions in 652 BC. Which after this traders and merchants who believed in these revelations traveled the lands and spread to others what they had learned.

During this time in gratitude for the revelations revealed by Muhammad, the town had built what was called 'The Mecca' where followers of Islam could gather and discuss and worship in relative peace. Mecca would later on be the center of Islam in Alkharania and inspire future rulers to use Islam to rule there people. During the Alkharanian-Mahdavian Crusade Wars, Islamic Kingdoms in Mahdah sent it's finest armies into the decaying Empire to conquer their lands for Islam and God.

After the wars between the two lands, the Mahdavian Sultanate was born and with it came the golden age of Islam. It spread like wildfire throughout the Sultanate and surrounding area, as mosques were erected in many areas. In modern times Islam is still a big part of Alkharania with the largest follower base residing in Mahdah and other followers of Islam reside in Rephesus, Nasiriyah and the North Alkharanian Republic.

History of Hellenic Orthodox Christianity in Mahdah:

In the aftermath of the invasion of the east by unknown invaders, a new religion had sprung up in it's wake which did spark controversy. Hellenic Orthodox Christians had made their presence known as churches begun sprouting in the area. The majority of the population was Islamic but with the rise of the Hellenics in the east, some converted and became devoted Orthodox Christians. Several incidents from both religions occurred which caused much blood shed, Orthodox Christian kingdoms and Islamic Kingdoms clashed many times which ended in violent wars of attrition and slaughter.

In modern times the culture shock between the Muslims and Orthodox Christians were subdued and a friendship was made between the two sides. For years this has been true and thus since the reign of the Augustus Dynasty, religious tolerance had been successfully maintained.
