Germania, Brandenburg - The Kriegsmarine yesterday welcomed the addition of three new aircraft carriers to it's list of active naval assets as the Wehrmacht continues it's military reforms under Project Condor.
The three new aircraft carriers are of the Gerald R. Ford-Class, a category of nuclear-powered aircraft carriers exclusively designed by an unnamed overseas nation in close collaboration with Rheinmetal and ThyssenKrupp, two leading German industrial giants in the Reich. The three vessels had already been commissioned after the initial construction of their main hull and flight deck within the Kiel Naval Shipyard, after which further construction work was carried out to build the island and various other structural components of the carriers. All construction work was completed on the three carriers two days ago, after which the three vessels were promptly put to sea and dispatched to their various naval units.
The three aircraft carriers will be assigned to any of the Greater Aryan Race's active naval fleets, depending on where they are needed most. The Naval High Command, OKM, has announced that the three ships have been designated as KMS Richthofen, KMS Claustwitz and KMS Alexander von Falkenhausen respectively, after three famous German military commanders hailing from the 19th and 20th century. The three aircraft carriers will also spend the next four months engaged in extensive basic training and sea trials for their respective crew members in order to ensure the seaworthiness and viability of the three vessels. The OKM has also confirmed in its official statement that the new carriers will receive their respective contingents of aircraft from the Luftwaffe over the course of their sea trials.
The acquisition of these three new naval vessels will surely enhance the maritime capabilities of the Kriegsmarine as it actively seeks to maintain the transition to a blue-water navy, thereby allowing for the projecting the Reich's own national interests overseas. Currently the Kriegsmarine already maintains five active Gerald R. Ford aircraft carriers and with the addition of three more, brings the total number of aircraft carriers in active service to eight, excluding smaller classes of aircraft carriers which the Kriegsmarine also uses.
