Was German experiment to see if you could land 2 shells in the exact same spot, doubling penetration.
Failed. Could get close, but not exactly, so failed in its design goals. Was in fact a fullblown tank, believe it was built off of the Marder or Leopard 1 Hulls.

Fail to see the Hull resemblance. MBT-70 hull is luzly short compared to this. Will however look further into it to see for certain.

How about you just make a regular Tank Gun, like a 120mm, and just design a GLATGM to fix it?
Seriously, that is all you need.

I guess the crew wouldn't mind if I removed one hatch for the mortar, and then for extra escape pull a Merkava with the hull config

The Marines are equiped with the LY7, 1500 are in service for 3 divisons.
There is also 500 LY4A2 in Army service for the "elite" 1st Armored Divison.
However we make use of 2,500 LY6A1 equiping 5 Armored Assault Divisons.

US tank divisions are about 350 tanks. It really depends on the sub-units and stuff like that. A 500 tank division is possible in MT, not likely, but possible. There are a lot of factors though.
