MCA-7E has tons of armour, and can probably defeat fire from its own main gun along the front. Granted the sheer volume of fire probably should have lead to lucky kills.

Yeah, considering it was about half a division...

Awwww, I knew I was wrong on the caliber of the T-90, but anyways...

Well, he made up for the godmodding-esque stuff. He lost most of his MCAs to my Cruise missiles  IIRC those things cost a fortune to buy or make, and losing 500 is quite a blow.

Mind you, this is also somebody who uses an R2 in MT. (For those of you who do, it's officially a late MT/PMT weapon.)

I don't really like the MCA, since it's really expensive, overused, and quite cheap. I also can't be driving the monstrosity through the streets of my capital or any other city, which happens sometimes. I need those roads too. I also have some mountainous terrain and some lolmuddy areas.
Yeah, the MCA-7's not for me.

EDIT: 86 tons ain't exactly a great idea on a street, or anything else for that matter.

In NS MT is very subjective. If you are capable of fielding MCA-7Es, and the advanced stealth fighters in NS, you can probably field the R2. It isn't really PMT, most of the technologies it uses exists in some form, and with the warlike nature of NS, it isn't impossible to fathom someone spending billions developing the technologies it uses to make it more feasible.

Somehow, I doubt that when your soldiers see a battle line of 80-ton steam-powered tanks barrelling down on them with all guns blazing and fiery smoke billowing from the 'stacks, they will be thinking how "lame" the unicorn head is.

No, they'll be laughing at how thin the armor is and how huge an IR target it is.

Who said anything about thin armor, now? It's a huge target period, like most tanks.

But unlike most tanks, it has no angled armor and some areas aren't even covered, note tread sides.

What do you call the armor at the front (under the ram) and on the turret? Isn't that angled?

Oh, and yeah. All I can say is that I didn't draw the picture. :p

Right, or did they choose it based on their nation's terrain and armoured doctrine? I chose the LY7 as my principal tank due to it's modularity, and because my nation is likely to operate in all sorts of terrain from jungles to desert to plains. Given that my sovereign territory is a group of three islands barely averaging 25 km in length, I really can't claim it for being used in home defence since almost all that would be urban (thus BMPT). I also can't really be toting around a giant ass lolheavy tank that only functions properly on lolflat plains like Europe and Saharan Africa.

Sumer said somewhere that his MCA-7 doesn't have as much armour as he stated, and he needs to redo the RHAe figures.

Still, it probably has enough to defeat APFSDS from a regular 125mm gun, it weighs 86 tons and is designed for tank on tank combat.

Honestly, the Abrams can probably bounce most, if not all, RL 125mm APFSDS rounds. The MCA-7, which can be thought of as a tank with a Falcon Turret with thirty tons of armor...

I'd still think the crew would at least be rattled around quite a bit, maybe damage to a few systems that would've taken a nasty smacking about in the turret and hull. I mean, really, most tanks are killed by damage to components such as treads, engines, the main gun, and computer systems. With that much firepower hitting those tanks (4000 tanks wtf that's like literally 10 divisions), you'd really think that there would be more damage to things like fire control, the autoloader, and even the crewmembers themselves.

And does the AT-11 or LAHAT have a top-attack feature?

MCA-7E can easily take anything the T-90 can throw at it to the side or front, even at point blank range.

Hell, it's intended to take anything it's own (Or any other for that matter) 140mm gun can throw at it from 500m.

I also lulz at people who use the MCA-7 anywhere but where it was meant to be used, or for any roles but what it was meant to be used. Total lulz. It's meant to be mobile, in open terrain, and to be focused on killing heavy armour. Total waste of money to dig it in.

While at that, do you think one could "fix" it somewhat? Like my tank tuning idea, if I could say cut... probably not 10, but a few tons.

Sumer actually has a version of the MCA-7 that only weighs in at like, 60-65 tonnes, the 7H, the only difference though being in its Turret Armor and Armored Skirts.
In other words, conservatives are generous with their own money, and liberals are generous with other peoples money.

If he RPs AT, then that wouldn't really happen, and that tank would probably be an effective weapon.

What is AT? Also, a steam powered tank shaped like a box with no angled armour would not fair well in modern combat.

You can, but the actual year doesn't matter. Alternate generally refers to alternate history, in which case it doesn't matter if it's 2010, it can be steam-powered.
