In my nation most children are taught not to believe in "boogeymen", and told to behave because its the right thing to do and if they don't obey the law they can expect an unpleasant visit from the police.

Inland (Tokora is a skinny country, about the size of Vietnam) most people belive in the Sợ hãi, an anciant old wizard that cooks spoild children in his soup, and when he's not hungry he turns them into either a crow, a snake, or something he'll slaughter and cook later. Some say they found they're children transformed and raise them though the Tokoran Officials say they're nuts, and for good reason. By the coast locals belive in the Nugoge (Nu-go-gee), a demonic lizard that when it kidnaps children it plays a bone game. If it wins, it eats them. If it loses, it raises the child as it's own.

Slavers, Children are taught from a very young age that if they do not go to training then the slavers will be able to beat them an take them as slaves.
They are also told graphic tales about the things we have slavers do to their slaves , and nothing is made up we use actual footage taken by our scouts and assault teams to back these tales up and there are many documentaries on our datanet about slavers (OOC: Considering how many people use slavery as part of the "I am the most oppressive nation in the world" game such footage would be extremely easy to come by).
The end result is that we do not fear slavers, we are far too well armed for them to be anything but a trivial annoyance to our military, but we certainly hate them and wish to eradicate their blight from the universe.

This is pretty widespread and reinforces the military training that everyone gets as part of our culture.

"Crazy Legs Larry" is Ruga's boogeyman. Crazy Legs Larry is depicted as an overly thin and ugly old man with missing teeth and a few wispy strands of long gray hair atop his head. Children who misbehave or aren't home before their curfew are said to be snatched up by Crazy Legs Larry in the dead of night to be eaten alive. The legend goes that Crazy Leg's Larry quite literately shits out their souls and breathes it back into their cooked bones to bring the children back to life to repeat the process; each time their soul decreasing less and less until there is no more.

It's quite an effective tale, considering many young children don't want their soul to be shat out multiple times for the same crazy old man to keep eating them alive multiple times until their soul literally disappears.
