noted.

ran the round through ballistic calculator and dunno how to read this chart.

either that site is fucking kidding me, or this round apparently loses energy faster than a goddamn X-15 can fly, and drops like a wrecking ball made of lead dropped from a 10-store building.

Stick Leader - Pindad SS2, Browning Hi-Power
Grenadier - Pindad SS2-V1 w/ Pindad SPG-1A UBGL
Rifleman - Pindad SS2, extra 7.62mm bandolier
Machinegunner - FN MAG

Looks good to me, but why not the SS3? Bullpup will serve you better when maneuvering in jungle.

Mostly for the Pindad UGBL, which only fits the full size SS2-V1 rifle. I will consider either issuing SS2-V2 carbines, or SS3 bullpup to the stick leader and rifleman.

Also, pistol for the machinegunner?

If my position as the former founder carries any weight at all, no, it's not. There was no rule that TF stuff couldn't be used outside of TF. I know my old storefront was universal. But, maybe that's changed since I left.

I'll see if I can dig it up now. All I remember is Puz saying something about a really short cartridge with a really long range, I took a look at the ballistics chart that was posted, asked him if I could adopt it and he said yes.
This was in like thread eight or nine, maybe even earlier.

Based on previous observations, I'd guess because it's a)7.62mm + in diameter, and b) promises high velocities.

Let me save you all the trouble:

Anything I posted in the tread was always open source. If you wanted to use the idea it was normally a "just ask me" deal. 7.62 Shipunov (7.62x32) is basically a PDW-intermediate cartridge I made based off the 7.62x25 Tok. principal of high speed, low weight. Its principal purpose was to replace 5.45x39 in my military (because I use 7.62x39 as a mainline). Its got a good set of balls on it, with its principal drawbacks being its very loud and is not as compact as, say, 4.6x30 or 5.7x28. Its overall length is 44mm and its bullet weight is 90gr as standard and it has a MV of something like 720-750 m/s.

Depends on the weapon in question. Generally, I'll have three base layers for all the component groups. Each group is an Object with some layers of its own, and then each part has an Object, which may or may not have layers. It can get pretty crazy.

Yet moar. I'm not totally sure about the carry handle...

Yeah, I won't even try and figure that out or try it myself.
Well, the carry handle matches the aesthetics of the rifle. Definitely looks prototypish.

In other news/question. What sort of range could a 1. caliber musket with a long fucking barrel reach out to? It will start out firing round balls, then change to Minnie balls.

There's no point putting Minnie balls in a musket. The whole point of them is to make the bullet expand and engage the rifling when fired so you can muzzle-load them quickly.

Kouralia wrote:So... Standard optics of your men: what are they?

For standard combat troops, Lanosians use the drum sights on their M50 rifles (SG 550) aimed out to 300m (or the 3 setting on the sight). Some soldiers are issued M68 Close Combat Optics for use in close quarters fighting, however that is the exception not the norm. For night fighting, the soldier sets the dial to 100m (or 1) and flips up the night front sight. The 1 setting and the night post has tritium illumination for this purpose. For marksman rifles, an adjustable-zoom 4x24 scope is issued for this purpose. Regulations forbid the rear sight from ever being removed (plus it's welded on to the rifle). For grenadiers, the special grenade rear sight is simply added on the rear sight assembly after attachment of the grenade launcher, doing away with any zeroing upon installation.

Other optics approved by DoD are allowed and issued accordingly but that's for Special Forces and the like.
