Most compact assault rifles aren't really any heavier than SMG's. The M4 is about as heavy as the MP5 for instance.
There is a reason why SMG's are becoming less widespread in modern armies, Assault rifles have replaced them in most roles.
It's the same reason why PDW's haven't really caught on.

EDIT: Anyway, what is NS' consensus on MP9 vs MP7? And possibly forgoing pistols entirely in favor of (very) compact PDWs such as those two? Initially I was considering an MP7 in 7.62 Tok alongside a pistol, but the MP9 is a bit more compact, lighter, simpler (short recoil vs short gas) and just looks like it'd fair better as a pistol replacement:

I'll bet it's easier to shoot the guy multiple times with a PDW cartridge, but I don't think the improvement is that great. It's hard to shoot a guy that is trying not to get shot, regardless of what you are trying to hit him with.

If you are close enough to hit the guy multiple times reliably with a PDW cartridge, you are close enough to do the same thing with an intermediate or a pistol cartridge.

Stick Leader - Pindad SS2, Browning Hi-Power
Grenadier - Pindad SS2-V1 w/ Pindad SPG-1A UBGL
Rifleman - Pindad SS2, extra 7.62mm bandolier
Machinegunner - FN MAG

Rifleman - Pindad SS2, extra 7.62mm bandolier
Machinegunner - FN MAG

Looks good to me, but why not the SS3? Bullpup will serve you better when maneuvering in jungle.

It's hard to shoot a guy that is trying not to get shot, regardless of what you are trying to hit him with.

Admittedly, I've never been in a proper combat simulation, bit I imagine it can't be all that hard. Spot target, line sights, squeeze trigger and pray for best.

Not necessarily. . . well, not for pistol cartridges. Admittedly, proper intermediates tend to mop the floor with PDW rounds, if at the expense of bulk and muzzle flash.

Why are you bothering with vegetarian meals? I think if you're in the military, you're past the point where you can really care about animals, given that your job is to kill people. Plus, everyone knows that vegetarians are dirty hippies and shouldn't be any position of responsibility, period.

this is one of the better MRE menus, not just because it has good snacks, but is also a good entree. There is also lasagna, ratatouille and a few other vegetarian menus.

speaking of jungle and bullpup, FA03A4 update! now with awesome grip texture. and i guess i'll show moar versions. i have all of them ready, but can't be bothered to upload all.








3 first ones you already know - carbine, tactical carbine, and PDW. they fire 7x41mm USBN, or as i might call it, 6.8x41mm USBN (damn silly tradition of calling boolits by bore diameter).

4 last ones are new flavors!

7.62x51mm NATO battle rifle - stick a scope on it and boom, DMR!
SMG conversion kit - this one in particular is supposed to fire some sort of 7.62 tok with a longer case (think 30mm) and a spitzer bullet.
LMG, also firing 7x41mm USBN - but with a heavier barrel, foldable carry handle, bipod and a 75-round drum mag!
grenadier rifle - with a 40mm grenade launcher and a silly foldable offset leaf sight for the grenade launcher.

I take vegetarian options because they tend to have candy, ranger bars, cereals and other goodies in them.

Though a good, cold pork rib with all the nice congealed fat can't be beat.

There is also the fact that, at least in the UK, Quorn is cheaper and possibly better nutritionally than actual meat. High protein and high fibre, probably good for soldier's diets.
