thanx to no Americurrr to prohibit allot of its advancements, the CEAM is adopted by the Great French Empire and by the late 1970s replaces the MAS-49 as a service weapon.

Chambered in a 7.5x35mm round for max awesome.

really basic for now, needs allot of work.

Why not just have a wire cutting function on the blade?

Samoz, could we see you try your hand at an assault shovel? As-in, a gritty-ass shovel used for the bashing in of faces alongside the chopping of meaty-bits. With digging being a secondary function.

And by this, I mean arting it up.

Presumably on a larger pattern as applied to a uniform or vehicle, the slashes would extend across the entire outer surface?

So here's a bit of an odd question, but I figured it fit under Infantry best.

Within my Mechanized Infantry Regiment, where should I put my MANPADS? Group them all together with the air-defense battalion and attach them at will where they're needed for greater flexibility? Or throw a few in with each Company, keeping them ready-at-hand but making it harder to concentrate the Regiment's air defense in one area or another? Or something in between? Or both?

Roll an air-defence Battalion of MANPADS and SAMs, plus throwing a MANPAD platoon in the Rifle Battalion.

The idea is that at a glance it looks like a somewhat stylized recording device or similar, so in a crowd of reporters an assassin can hold it up, bang, who me nope I'm just another guy with a microphone. For bonus points, it could theoretically hold a smaller recording device in the forward section.

i believe the soviets did something similar, but disguising it as a cigarette lighter.

which gives me an idea; for USBN's intelligence agents, what about a pen-looking device? IIRC it has already been done (actually, a guy attempted to enter an airport with one of these here in Brazil. aparently he forgot it was made of metal), but i'm thinking about using these special silent cartridges the soviets used.

yeah, i also thought so. however, the top one would allow to change between right-handed and left-handed in a few minutes... well, this leads me to another question.

is it acceptable to make a few dedeicated left-handed upper recievers (with the ejection port in the left side), and then make the rifle as such that it would only require a change in the position of the extractor and the upper reciever to change between right to left handed?

The TAR-21 can switch between left handed and right handed:
http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb2 ... TAR-21.jpg
and you couldn't tell from looking at it.

If you really want it to be ambidextrous, why not approach the situation like the FN F2000, RFB, Saritch 308, or my own U2A1:

i know this is not part of the question, but looking at the image you linked, isn't the TAR-21 pistol grip a bit too thin?

interesting. how does the TAR do it? does it have two ejection ports?

i've always found top-ejecting mechanisms to be rather complicated and possibly jam-tastic.

So, as the year closes, what do the MMWers/NSIers think of the latest CoD and BF games?

Not especially to do with infantry, but how do you think they portray the weapons, vehicles etc. in them, and how could the games affect NS-Mil? Much of an improvement over previous iterations?

I know for sure they've included a good variety of weapons in BF4 that I wouldn't have expected to see, such as the AK12, RFB, AK5c, Beretta Mx4 and P226 among others. The inclusion of different weapons choices per class (any class can have a shotgun, a 'carbine', a 'DMR' or its own weapon (i.e. AR, LMG, Sniper or PDW) might even combat some military-derpitude, as the Carbines are frequently a better choice than PDWs/SMGs at almost all ranges, so we could see the instances of 'Everyone w/ PDWs' decrease.

I do not have any information on this either way.

Indeed it does, however only one of them is "active" at a time. I've watched a couple videos, and apparently it requires a partial disassembly to convert it to left-handed, but that isn't nearly as exhaustive as having a backup receiver like you said.
I think the AUG has a similar system. The L85 series cannot be fired left handed.

i've always found top-ejecting mechanisms to be rather complicated and possibly jam-tastic.

Well I don't know about the RFB, but the Saritch, F2000, and U2A1 are foward ejection directly. I know the Saritch ejects straight down and the F2000 ejection up and to the right, where my U2A1 ejects down and to the left.
And my rifle's ejection system is a very simply spring loaded trap door that only adds a comparitively little amount of weight.

I think the same thing I thought last year: fun games, but not even close to accurately portraying a military.

It can, just not with the ease that many other rifles can.

It's also the SA80 series. The L85 (A1/2) is the Assault rifle, the L22/SA80 IFV is the carbine and the L86 is the LSW.

Transport helicopters have handling characteristics now.
They have a bulk, they have a power.

The disabling mechanic on BF4 is really annoying though.

Eh, both brands of run n' gun sillyness have proven themselves to be rife with folly. If anything, they have seemingly ruined a generation of gamers by supplying and readily applying a method of replacing skill and the need to think on your feet with silly quirks and hilariously similar methods rewarding genuinely bad players for exploiting systems in game via methods most un-couth. Suffice it to say, Red Orchestra 2 is where it's at. Realism, territory and any other setting that can possibly be thrown at the game to make it tougher, more challenging and just providing a glimpse into just bloody destructive the equipment and exploits of a war of that nature can be (this relates to the NS player base because, let's face it, quite a few folks on here just want a Normandy or Stalingrad equivalent under their collective belts). Though, to be frank, a challenge is bloody nice once in a while, being supported by my squad mates while I use an Mg34 in the manner it was designed for instead of running around in a game series where a PTRS can be wielded like a fuckin' mosin is a genuine pleasure.

My two cents on the matter.
