IIRC corda made a nagant based revolver that used ammunition based off of the soviet silent pistol ammo and had a integral suppressor. For that thing in single action and no one would hear a thing.

Closest to "absolutely silent" a silencer has ever gotten was the Mk. 22, which had a slight lock to prevent the movement of the slide (which makes noise), and also had a silencer larger then the gun itself.

There are plenty of cases, especially with handgun ammunition and special cold loads of other munitions where suppressors are capable of "silencing". As well as the various novel silent cartridges and the Nagant's gas sealing.

Many others aren't.

And note that slide locks are unrelated to suppressors.
The Sten's suppressor had "totally silent" beat by more than a decade and others probably beat it.

PSS still had slide sounds.

but the PSS was quieter firing noise. Add slide lock. Bam done. And if PTS airsoft blowbacks are anything to go by slide noise isn't terribly loud.(sheriff's office and airsoft. Who knew?)

Unless you can silence the firing pin striking the primer itself, you're not going to have a totally silent weapon.

Slide noise is however distinctive, and if your weapon no longer makes a bang, then it's the loudest sound the weapon makes.

The dinkiest gas-operated weapon I know of is .17 HMR, unless you count floating chambers.

5.7mm is slightly less dinky so it should work.

The url says "FAP", so I'm guessing Peruvian Air Force (or Peruvian Armed Forces) from a cursory Google.
Wiki claims they only issue the AKM to airborne units, so make of that what you will.

The url also says "FN F2000" so who knows what it's of.

A unit of just women? I doubt that would be a thing today.

In other news. I'll be redoing my GPMG's now/soon. Seeing as though I used the NotM1919, would there be any feasible/practical way of modernizing it enough to be used as a proper GPMG instead of adopting a whole new weapon?

Could SP-4-ish captive piston system be usable in rifle cartridges? I think it would be interesting to have a silent bolt-action carbine for stealthily eliminating sentries and such.
