Yes. The 5.45x39mm is easier to extract in adverse conditions, the 7N6 projectile has more consistent terminal effects than the SS109, and the 7N10 should have better penetrations than the M855A1

I'm thinking a IR diffusing shell for standard infantry armor, with a RAM coating and greater IR diffusion on Special forces and reconnaissance models. maybe forgoing any stealth on the amphibious assault armor and simply electroplating aluminum and anodizing it for ultimate weather resistance.

also a proposal, so a dome shaped explosive charge with deep cones cut into the surface and then lined with copper to make an anti vehicle charge, rather than attempting a single armor defeat. part of this is also to maintain some effectiveness against infantry. and the armor penetration is sometimes necessary given what my opponents field infantry wise.

Personally, I would suggest using non-Newtonian materials, particularly shear thickening materials, like oobleck. Shear thickening materials are defined by their increased strength and rigidity under stress, not consistent with standard Newtonian mechanics. It would allow for free motion, while still protecting against impacts in a fashion similar to plate armor. Combine this with the properties of silicone polymers (Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), for example, which gives silly putty it's anomalous properties of being able to ooze, bounce, or shatter) and you could construct a material with impact properties analogous to ceramic plates, while simultaneously self-repairing/reconstructing.

That's a mildly interesting gas layout. It's certainly not AR-15 standard.

7.85x57? Is that a proprietary cartridge of your design?

How do you mean, "practical"?
They're of completely different designs suiting completely different weapons for different reasons and are not interchangeable cartridges.

Bullet design question time. I have been told that my boat tail angle should not be less than 7 degrees, but is there a maximum value as well?
Purpelia does not reflect my actual world views. In fact, the vast majority of Purpelian cannon is meant to shock and thus deliberately insane. I just like playing with the idea of a country of madmen utterly convinced that everyone else are the barbarians. So play along or not but don't ever think it's for real.

The above post contains hyperbole, metaphoric language, embellishment and exaggeration. It may also include badly translated figures of speech and misused idioms. Analyze accordingly.

can I get some measurements on an assault rifle (say, 16 inch barrel) for the:
Width of the rifle receiver?
Stock length?
Receiver length/width/depth?
Height of pistol grip?
Diameter (or height) of foregrip?
I'm assuming the foregrip length would scale depending on barrel length. If that's wrong, please correct me.

Guess I just never thought of it at the time. I Guess it is to late for a caliber change now though, Considering 12 million rifles as well as machine guns in this caliber have already been manufactured and we believe in sharing amunition between most of our weaponry. :)

Bora-Acorn M104 Gladius
Firing the specially-designed 7.62mm LVS-A round, the Gladius is built for shipboard [NB: same kind of environment as on a plane] combat. With a compact weapon and low-velocity slug rounds, this is a package that brings everything you need to fight off criminals without spacing yourself.

The M104 is typically used by ship crews, and Safeguard teams assigned to known piracy hotspots.
The 7.62mm LVS-A round is short and slow, but packs enough weight to give even the toughest of augmented hijackers a black eye.

I DO know that the base should be absolutely no less than 0.65x the bullet diameter, so that might be something to go off of.
