Perhaps it isn't quite ideal, but it's cheaper than completely reequipping your mainline combat forces.

^This too
Or you could just retcon your nation's history and adopt the F2000 from the very start.

The fact that it retains it's medium range combat ability was also a big reason for choosing a bullpup rifle. Again this was a 4 year long transition from the G36 to the F2000.

The F2000 has a shorter barrel than the G36A2 (19" vs. 12"), and so logically would actually perform worse at ranges than the G36 would.

But it's more effective in the close range conditions it is working while it is still a capable medium range weapon. You can't always have the best of everything but it works for what it is needed for.

Why not just adopt the G36 with a 12" barrel (G36K)? It'd be significantly shorter with a folding stock.

Because the G36 is useless past 200 or so meters when hot.

Is the reason
A) By the time 2iC would be taking command, squad would already be worthless as unit due to losses it's sustained.
or
B)It's thought to be common sense, that squad members figure out whom takes charge after SL falls
or
C)Other.

What does 'with fire' mean?
I mean, in the British Army it goes: IC, Rfn, Gdr, Gnr, 2IC, Rfn, Gdr, Gnr I believe.

It doesn't mean anything. I don't know why I added it.
But fo example US army and USMC squads don't seem to have explicit 2iC positions.
And I am not about Russians either...

That's why I have a 5 man 'fire team' (Or Celritannian Squads) and a 10 man section. If one fire team is pinned the other fire team can help.
