East Frisia Voted!

Postby East Frisia » Thu Nov 21, 2013 3:49 pm

The TV-reporter appears again in front of a giant screen.

"I have to say: I didn't expect this election to be so close. Now the most actual extrapolation from 10:59PM.

Bars appear on the giant screen. They show the following extrapolation:
OFRK: 38,1%
AOFG: 21,0%
Green: 10,5%
C3PO: 8,3%
WlAn: 7,9%
MLA: 6,2%
PFO: 3,9%
Others: 4,1%

"As you can see, not a lot has changed since the last extrapolation. The PFO did not pass the 4%-hurdle, so that they still are not represented in the parliament, although it is very close. Let's see what this means for the parliament."

Half a cake appears on the screen, which is filled with colours according to the seats the party is expected to win, which are:
OFRK: 53
AOFG: 29
Green: 15
C3PO: 11
WlAN: 11
MLA: 8

"So, as you can see, both C3PO and WlAn have gained a seat since the last extrapolation. And, just as a reminder, 64 of the 127 are enough for a majority, as long as there are no overhang seats. So this now means, that the OFRK can be very happy, because if this would be the final result, both parties they like to coalate with, the C3PO and the WlAn, have enough seats to form a majority. They can now choose and use them against each other during coalition talks. It is very thin for now, though."

The TV-reporter holds his hands towards his ear and listens to his director. Then he nods astonished.

"Just in are the votes of the constituency of Westoverledingen. It appears, that the direct mandate has been won by the independent candidate Michael Amelsberg. That changes everything. Because he is not in one of the parties, but is entitled to a seat, the number of seats goes up to 128 now. That also means, that 64 seats is no majority anymore, but 65. And both OFRK/C3PO as well as OFRK/WlAn are not enough seats. This will be very interesting indeed."

While we fast-forward to the final results, let me just give you the results of the district votes, witch also affect the upper house, inofficialy called the Board.

In Leer, there has been a race between the OFRK and the AOFG, as to which one gets the most seats. The OFRK receives one more and will be able to form a district government together with the C3PO, which had great results in the town of Leer itself, because it is the stronghold of the Reformed Church in the whole of East Frisia.
In Wittmund the result is very like the parliamentary election, although not as narrow. The OFRK will have no problems to form a government with the C3PO here too.
In Aurich the AOFG has been more successful, thanks to most of East Frisia's industry being located here. Also, like everywhere else, the Greens have a solid result, especially here, because Aurich includes the East Frisian islands, some of which do not allow automobiles on their streets beside emergency services. Here the AOFG and the Greens will most likely form a district government, although the issue of infrastructure is not resolved yet.
In Emden, due to the recent extinction of the feather-bellied watt worm as a result of extensive building of Siele and locks for the water ways, the populace voted the Greens to an absolute majority. They promised to fund projects of the revitalization of the local watt worm race and also to make Emden the No 1 city in Nordic Lands in terms of Living Standard.

Ah, here are the final results. The percentages changed a bit, but not the seat distribution.
OFRK: 38,2% - AOFG: 20,9% - Green: 10,6% - C3PO: 8,2% - WlAn: 7,9% - MLA: 6,2% - PFO: 3,9% - Others: 4,1%
OFRK: 53 - AOFG: 29 - Green: 15 - C3PO: 11 - WlAn: 11 - MLA: 8 - Independent: 1
Hajo Allena, lead candidate of the OFRK, has announced, that his party invited all other parties present in the new parliament, exept the MLA, to exploratory talks. He did not state, which one he prefers to coalate with.
The options he has are:
- A coalition with the AOFG (82 seats): Very unlikely due to different opinions on a lot of matters, but probably an option as a last resort.
- A coalition with the Greens (68 seats): Even more unlikely, especially because of their different economic views and also the infrastructure discussion.
- A coalition with both C3PO and WlAn (75 seats): Probable, but needs a lot of issue resolving, as both the C3PO and the WlAn have their own ideas on where the country should go. Needs extensive negotiations.
-A coalition with either C3PO or WlAn and the support of Independent MP Amelsberg: Very unlikely, because Amelsberg has stated his intent to not be part of a coalition, thereby making this option a minority rule, which would likely fail, if legislation is stopped because of missing majorities.
- Snap election: Very unlikely to give a different result. Every party announced during the campaign their intent not to seek a snap election.

Finally, the Board will likely be consisting of an OFRK/C3PO-majority, thereby making the same coalition on national level more preferred.
Pro: Nelson Mandela, vegetarianism, freedom of speech
Con: Holocaust denial, pointless discussions

Peace with Pushkinskaya - What Now?
Last night, Prime Minister Mikkel Klintrop announced the end of the war with Pushkinskaya, gleeful that no land was taken from the Union. "My intents now are a strict policy of armed neutrality, the establishment of the Nordic Council, and to continue to grow the Union's power in innovation. Today, I announce a new benchmark of Union innovation: a space program." With the announcement of the space program, plenty of speculation has ensued over what will happen with the program. "Our goal is to get a probe in orbit within 5 years."

Jensen is currently displeased with the lack of responses to the compromise poll, and has now invalidated it. He has written a new draft, which adds a simple compromise: Give it weak power, then add power later on. "I shall not rest until a council is created," states Jensen.

Statement read by chief Eylandian diplomat to the Pushkinskaya peace conference, Dr William Trewavas, at the closing press conference

Peace has once more returned to the Nordic Lands with the signing of the landmark peace treaty between the Union of Sjaelland & Fyn and the Reich of Pushkinskaya.

We are glad that peaceful terms have been met by both sides. The Union shall pay war reparations, and we will work with their government to ensure that their economy is strong enough to shoulder this burden.

The Reich has assured us that Union prisoners of war will be treated humanely and released after questioning. We will be monitoring this situation to ensure that the written word of the treaty is adhered to.

In accordance with the treaty the Albion Alliance will be withdrawing our trade embargo with the Baltic Alliance and the Reich of Pushkinskaya. We will, however, have certain restrictions on trade with Pushkinskaya - as we do with many other nations - including, primarily, a ban on weapons sales and other military hardware as well as a ban on any equipment which could be used in the application of the death penalty. These are standard procedures for Albion Alliance trade with a variety of nations. Should the Reich continue to make progress towards peace and stability we will review these restrictions.

For now, we must all celebrate the landmark peace which has been achieved at this conference. May it last indefinitely.

The ReichFührer Hans Ostentov returning from Newer Austria appears on national television to speak about the current peace treaty.

"Citizens of the Reich, we have achieved peace at last, and I count this as a victory in our superiority over this land, the regime will continue to work towards Pushkinskayan purity against sub-humans and communists. The Union's military personnel have confirmed that there aren't any more rebel factions present in our territory, as agreed in the peace treaty these men will be returned to their families despite a few disagreements among our military officers. The Reich is entering its golden age, we now will work towards keeping our economy stable and our borders secured."

"Research will continue in Labs X-11 and X-18, we are happy to say that our team in lab X-18 will start nuclear energy research, but we assure our neighbours that none of that research will be used in military advancements, we are also happy to say that our scientists are starting to discover new missile knowledge that will help advance space exploration in the future, although these are very recent news and any progress on them will take a while."

"The Reich's new homeland security force the SS is already 15,000 men strong and will be deployed on the streets and checkpoints to ensure the safety of our pure citizens against rabble and communism."

"The Army coming back from Sjaelland and Fyn will be sent back to regular training and drills, and a new wave of recruitment is expected in the future."

"Heil, Reich!"

Then the regular TV programming comes back in heavily influenced by the Reich's propaganda.

Coalition Talks Near End?

Leer (mvb) - After tedious negotiations some tired party figures appeared before the gathered press yesterday
night and announced first results. They even hinted at where the negotiations may take them in the end.

Present were Ommo von Oldersum, vice chairman of the OFRK, Sönke Eucken, Secretary General of AOFG, Hinrich van
Göns, lead candidate of the Greens, Peter van Ommeren, chairman of WlAn and Fr. Heiner Jhering, lead candidate of
C3PO. They all spent the last 36 hours together with further 50 politicians in the conference rooms of the Alte Waage and
have now stept outside in front of City Hall on the other side of the road to represent their parties.
The first messages were about the topics that have been discussed. This was a wide range, from the infrastructure
question via suggestions for solutions to the economic crisis and the preservation of the Wadden Sea to the surprisingly
present demand of the C3PO to introduce a prohibition on work on sundays.
After this overview the representatives elaborated on their parties' stance on those topics. It was obvious that the Greens
did not want to abandon their demand for a stop on road building. Van Göns (The Greens) stated that a coalition with the
OFRK without this central demand would not be possible. After that, von Oldersum (OFRK) confirmed that talks for a black-
green (see box on the right) coalition have been ceased some hours before.
Sönke Eucken (AOFG) reminded the press of the basic differences between his party and the OFRK. He emphazised the de-
bate about so called financial injections - the possibility to grant money to medium-sized enterprises for them to expand.
"The OFRK stands opposed to this because of scarce budgetary funds", commented von Oldersum.
Father Heiner Jhering (C3PO) emphazised his support for some of the AOFG's positions, for example the belief that "a coun-
try without a nice work climate is doomed to fail". However, he pointed to strong parallels between C3PO and the OFRK. He
critizised economic policy of the WlAn, though. Peter van Ommeren (WlAn) affirmed that talks between his party and C3PO
were especially shaped by tensions, but called them "constructive".
Sönke Geskens, present political commentator for the AROF, summarized the impressions of the press like this: "It all looks
to result in a black-blue-grey coalition. Still, the parties keep a black-red coalition as a last resort, in case blue-grey conver-
sations turn from constructive to destructive."
All politicians were praised by the press for their extraordinary determination to find a coalition fit for government as soon
as possible, to affirm the constitution and to jump-start the country politically. "We expect the inaugural session of the par-
liament as soon as next thursday", explained Geskens.

Colour codes of negotiations
Because the abbreviations of
the parties can still be a bit
unwieldy, politicians aggreed on
colour codes that assignes a co-
lour to a party based on interna-
tionally established colour codes
for certain political movements.
These are the colours assigned
to the most important parties:

black - OFRK
red - AOFG
geen - The Greens
blue - WlAn
grey - C3PO
purple - MLA
brown - PFO

wichtigsten Parteien:

schwarz - OFRK
rot - AOFG
grün - Die Grünen
blau - WlAn
grau - C3PO
lila - MLA
braun - PFO

Interventionism
As hostilities come to a close in the Pushkinskayan Civil War, the Bastionian populace can breathe easy that this now the second major conflict in nearly three years that the administration has avoided directly committing Bastionian troops to. Although naval forces were deployed to observe troop movements during the Civil War in Svenskis not long ago, it seems that the Valgabond Ministry has managed to quell the increasingly hawkish members of the ruling Capital Nordic Party in Federal Parliament. Ironically enough, many believe that Prime Minister Ulrik Valgabond (Back when he was still Minister of Finance) was critical of former Prime Minister Roland Aerkusto's handling of naval deployments during the Svenskis conflict. However many in the upper echelons of the CNP feel that an "all or none" rational justifies Valgabond's lack of action, and that Aerkusto demonstrated a weakness and hesitation by sending observer forces.

But how does one really define the sense of interventionism that is rampant in the Federal Parliament, even on both sides of the aisle? The hawkish members of the CNP tend to push more warmongering reasons, citing the nation's need to assert it's dominance as a military power alongside it's allies in the CSO (despite it being intended as a defense alliance) as a form of aggressive foreign policy and natural deterrent. On the other side of the aisle, members of the DSP (Democratic Socialists) that push for interventionism quote the need for the nation to always make a firm stand against belligerent forces that threaten the safety and security of the region as well as human rights. However, conversely there is a growing sentiment on both sides that the Bastionian military should simply "stay out of fights that aren't our own" except of course in cases that involve the CSO defense alliance.

Call for a Council
Regarding the repeated calls for the establishment of a Nordic Council, the Ministry of Foreign Relations has issued this statement:

"This current Bastionian administration will vote no, and continue to vote no in joining an international regional council that has the ability to increase it's power to the point of directly impacting the domestic policies of member nations. If the nations involved in the so called "Nordic Council" wish to proceed without Bastionian Involvement, we can also abstain from voting."

SCANDINAVIA REFORMED
RADIO NEWS BROADCRAST

Dennis Moore reporting for TV1 with this RNB.
Good morning listeners,

Following the closing of the Pushkinskayan Civil War, the Royal Scandinavia Reformed Navy announced that its naval units will stand down from increased readiness. The Parliament, which had not yet decided on the deployment of Scandinavia Reformed troops in the conflict, displayed great relief when the news hit their parliamentary meetings yesterday. The Secretary of Defense has sent the following annoncement to all news agencies:

"While the ending of the conflict is a direction in the right step towards total regional peace, not just internally in each member nation but also inter-nation, the Parliament sends warm thought to the civilians within the nation of Pushkinskayan and all allied troops that entered the conflict. But we also feel that Scandinavia Reformed should play a greater role in peacekeeping operations throughout the Nordic Lands.

That is why I, on behalf of a Parliament majority of 64%, hereby wishes to announce the expansion of the territory belonging to the Allied States of Scandinavia Reformed. The territory in question is a small island group located South-West of our nation, which puts it just between Askerike, Oxyan, Majland, and an island group belonging to Copenhagen Metropolis.

It is important for the international community to note that the islands are currently undeclared by any state or other authority, and it is therefore in no way a hostile or threatening act towards any nation of our region. The islands primary purpose will be the construction of a large naval base, but will also house an airport reserved for both military and civilians purporses. Furthermore, civilians will also be housed there.

The President has approved of the decisions.

Thank you, and have a pleasant day."

That was all for this short morning news, tune in again at 10' AM for an extended news broadcast with George Petersen.

This is TV1 News. Good day to you all.

Coalition Agreement Stands!

Leer (mvb) - After very intense talks with just a few breaks between most of the parliamentary factions, the coalition agreement has been fully written. East Frisia will most probably be governed by a black-blue-grey coalition consisting of the East Frisian Regional Commitee (OFRK), the Economic Liberal Impule (WlAn) and the Christian Tri-Party of East Frisia (C3PO) beginning tommorow.
This night the lead candidates and the party chairmen stepped in front of the cameras to announce the completion of the coalition agreement. Proudly they presented the document of thirty pages.
The coalition agreement will include demands of both junior partners that were not mentioned during the OFRK campaign, for example the "no work on sunday"-clause and the reintroduction of the church tax originating from C3PO as well as reduction of restrictions placed on stock exchange and tax reliefs for high earners by WlAn. Central demands of OFRK like street building and the formation of a military are represented as well.
Concerning the personell there are no big surprises. Ommo von Oldersum, vice chairman of OFRK, will most likely become parliamentary president and thereby head of state. First Minister and thereby de facto most influental politician, will be Hajo Allena, who has served as provisional head of state and government since the independence nearly 3 weeks ago. Together with Telke Cirkensa, First Minister for the district of Leer, who will take presidency of the Board for the next year, these two will fill the order of precedence as included in the constitution. Further hierarchy will need separate legislature. Still open is the distribution of ministerial posts, as the departments have not been created yet. However, it was hinted at, that Peter van Ommeren (WlAn) will become Minister for Economy and Father Heiner Jhering Minister for Foreign Affairs and Second Minister.
The other parties that were involved in the talks, namely the Alliance of East Frisian Trade Unions (AOFG) and the Greens, commended the constructve negotiations and, leaving the political ideologies aside, the enthousiasm of the new government.
The inaugural session of the parliament is scheduled for tomorrow evening. To avoid any question of legitimacy the parties have agreed upon a draft of the constitution to be voted into law unanimously. All parties as well as the independent representative Michael Amelsberg have voiced their consent, so that nothing stands in the way of a fast start for politics.

Koalitionsvereinbarung steht!

"Yes! YES!" Those were mission control's cries when the Union sent their first probe into orbit around Earth. "This is a massive step for the innovative people of the Union," states Mikkel Klintrop. "It's really very exciting." But... what will be the next step? A man! Yes, a man in space! Applicants are to report to the Space Center in Lolland once they get accepted from a resume. The Union, in the meantime, has uploaded an album to unionspaceprogram.sf. This is a picture of the Nordic Lands that the satellite took during it's orbit:

ETV News 24 Report

Street protests have erupted across Eylandia following the successful Pushkinskaya peace conference. Protestors, calling themselves Penwithians in honour of the assassinated political agitator Mr Penwith, have set up camps in the centre of most major cities. A spokesman for the protestors, interviewed exclusively for this programme, called for the downfall of the coalition government; branding Prime Minister Dr Bledric Caradoc as a "spineless chameleon".

The Prime Minister's official spokesman was unavailable for interview but did release a statement that called on the "illegal" protestors to immediately cease their activities before the government was force to take tougher action to remove them.

In separate news, the Head of the Armed Forces launched a blistering attack on the Prime Minister's professional and personal character. First Admiral Bligh made the extraordinary comments in an interview with ETV News 24's prime-time programme 'Newsnight'. First Admiral Bligh said that he felt the need to break the impartiality clause of the military oath because the oath has been "repeatedly betrayed by politicians of all parties; highlighted by the recent embarrassing debacle over Eylandian intervention in Pushkinskaya", calling for a significant change in the relationship between the government and the armed forces.

Newsflashes around the region - the Eylandian government has fallen

The recent political turmoil in Eylandia has taken another unexpected turn, with the fall of the government. The King announced the news that he would be dissolving parliament in light of recent political crises in a public broadcast from his palace office.

Shortly after the king's broadcast it came to light that a secret deal had been made between the king, First Admiral Bligh and a new political force. With the dissolution of parliament and the secret agreement, Eylandia has now officially become the Pirate Free State of Eylandia.

Pirates have long roamed the shores of Eylandia, using its coastal geography to their advantage. The long history of pirating and smuggling in Eylandia has lead to all sorts of cultural stories around pirates. Indeed, the current pirate leader roaming the Eylandian coast is a Captain Penwith, half brother of the recently deceased political activist. Mr Penwith is a minor celebrity in Eylandia, who's citizens he brought contraband goods to such as alcohol.

The secret political deal sets out the future of the Pirate Free State. Much will continue as before, but with the political system radically overhauled. Eylandia will be ruled by a Council of Captains, the head of which will be the former King (now official High Captain) who will be joined by his joint second in commands (the former First Admiral Bligh and Captain Penwith).

The people of Eylandia have welcomed the news on the whole, celebrating the overthrow of what had become a clearly ineffectual political system as well as the return of many freedoms. The Council of Captains have over turned every single ban previous Eylandian governments had put in place, and have set out their vision of a domestic rule of total freedom.

For now, foreign relations will be temporarily suspended whilst the Council debates their international opinions.

Pushkinskaya National News Broadcast

In recent news it was revealed that the Eylandian government has dissolved, what appears to be a bandit clan has taken control of the region. When asked about it the Gestapo Chief and SS Commander Andrey Emenov stated:
"The ReichFührer is furious, the basis of our regime is order, and now we have bandits with the power of a nation, the Gestapo is already studying this new threat and the SS will be providing security against any acts of robbery or terrorism from these lawless criminals. Sadly we do not have a fighting fleet, so our merchant ships can be easily targeted, but the SS will start the training of guards that will man these trading ships and we hope that is going to be enough to keep the pirates from robbing our goods."

The ReichFührer is still trying to understand what this new pirate nation means to the rest of the region. The Führer made the following comment about it:
"Right now I do not fully understand what we are facing here. We clearly have a communist threat in the region, but now it seems that we will have to deal with anarchy aswell. I will try to evaluate the situation first. Right now all I have to say is that our trade partners better help us protect our trading routes. My Intelligence Officer Yakunin will try to investigate this new nation.

In other news, nuclear research in the nation is making progress, the team responsible for the advancements noted that it will take a while before they can succesfully create a safe nuclear reactor. Government engineers are already selecting appropriate places to build the first pushkinskayan power plant.

SCANDINAVIA REFORMED
RADIO NEWS BROADCRAST

Dennis Moore reporting for TV1 Radio with this RNB.

Department of State responds to Eylandia as a free pirate state
During the Secretary of State's weekly conference held today, a reporter raised the question of his thoughts on the new Pirate Free State of Eylandia, having changed its national government form and currently permits pirates in its national waters.

"While we do not endorse any acts of piracy, whatever form of government the nation of Eylandia wishes to run is their own choice - however, in any pirate attacks against ships sailing under the flag of Scandinavia Reformed will be seen as an act of hostility, and shall therefore be answered with the full might of the Royal Navy. I must clarify that we do not in any way wish to negotiate with these pirates. Furthermore, such attacks fall under the Federal Code on Terrorism's §12 on "Attacks on Merchant Vessels". In the unlikely event of an act of agression against our naval units on international waters, it will be seen as an act of war and actions will be taken accordingly," said Troels Madsen, the Secretary of State.

He goes on to add: "The new island group under Scandinavia Reformed's domain will place our territory closer to the Eylandia coast, and the Parliament have found it necessary to clearly state what we will tolerate and what we will not. However, we do not expect any problems and any internal affairs within the nation is of their own matter."

DEFCON Level Raised
Following the announcement of an island group being claimed in the name of Scandinavia Reformed, the Department of Defense have decided to raise the national defensive condition (DEFCON) level from 5 to 4. Civilian airports report an increased aerial activity from military aircrafts, most notably fighter jets patroling the shore line and the national water along with several Navy destroyers.

An anonymous source reports that the increased level aims for the national defense to be more effective in the case that any nation acts hostile towards the new expansion of territory. The level is expected to fall again later this week.

This was the evening news, from TV1 News. Have a nice evening everyone!

Constitution good, rest stupid
by Michael Amelsberg, 27 November 2013 11:20 PM

Today I participated in the inaugural session of the parliament, and I have to say, that I am a bit disappointed.

It started very promising. Hinni delivered a moving speech as the Father of the House. For everyone, who doesn't know, Hinni van Göns is the faction chairman of the Greens and my grand uncle. Then we elected Ommo von Oldersum as parliamentary president. His speech was also moving, containig visions for the future. He even referred to uncle Hinni's speech.

Then we debated a last time on the constitution and every faction - including me - was allowed to remind us, which part of the constitution was by them. I just spoke for a short time, but I was very nervous, standing in front of the 127 most important people of East Frisia. And everyone listened to me carefully, because they all want my vote in case of a remis. Then we all voted for the constitution and Hajo thanked us.

I call him Hajo, because afterwards he talked to me for a long time. There was a short break afterwards, to celebrate the passing of the constitution. e really has a rhethorical talent, that lets anyone forget his real ambitions, with which I do not get along very well. He would very much like to win me over, in case he has to push something through agains one of his junior partners, should there be bigger tensions between those.

After that, we went back into the chamber and went on to elect the government, and I actually voted for Hajo. If anyone can represent our interest outside of East Frisia, than him. Then he appointed his cabinet. It looks like this:

Minister for Foreign Affairs: Fr. Heiner Jhering (C3PO), also Second Minister
Minister for Economics: Peter van Ommeren (WlAn)
Minister for Environment: Alfons Wattwurm (OFRK)
Minister for the Internal Affairs: Paul Izeia (C3PO)
Minister for Defence: Dirk Ordera (OFRK)
Minister for Finances: Kasch Regista (WlAn)
Minister for Health: Pia Freriks (OFRK)
Minister for Social Affairs: Pastor Dieter Bontjer (C3PO)
Minister for Education: Foelke Agena (OFRK)
Minister for Justice: Lex Actena (WlAn)
Minister for Office: Poppe Fokken (OFRK), responsible for the administration of the government and the parliament.

Sadly, they all are no experts of their fields. That's why I suspect, that the posts have been assigned according to which faction has a right to how many of them. I did not approve of Hajo's suggestion, but that did not stop the coalition.

After that they realized their first demands immediately, for example the prohibition of sunday work. All WlAn-MP's voted for that (which is generally a good thing, because I did too), although they all opposed this during the campaign. Its astonishing how much politicians are willing to give up for government participation, for example their integrity!

Taking over the East Frisian department of the Newer Austrian military was legislated just as quickly, although I still consider to voice legal concerns here, because it may need a majority by two thirds. The parliamentary president decided otherwise, but I could always file a lawsuit at the Constitutional Court.

I did not get any time to talk assigned from then on. If I understood this correctly, I only get the whol factional time at debates over basic values. Otherwise, thanks to my election results, I only get about 13 seconds, except if I submitted the law proposal. Then I am entitled to 5 minutes. That definitely needs to be changed, I think.

Now the session has ended, I have to admit, that the profession of a politician is way more tiring than I expected. The listenig, the concentration required, is very exhausting. But now work is finished. Stay loyal to me and continue following my posts about my new job here.

Umweltminister: Alfons Wattwurm (OFRK)
Innenminister: Paul Izeia (C3PO)
Verteidigungsminister: Dirk Ordera (OFRK)
Finanzminister: Kasch Regista (WlAn)
Gesundheitsministerin: Pia Freriks (OFRK)
Sozialminister: Pastor Dieter Bontjer (C3PO)
Bildungsministerin: Foelke Agena (OFRK)
Justizminister: Lex Actena (WlAn)

The Pirate Council Speaks

Captain Penwith, known as the Gentleman Captain, of the Captains Council speaks to the world's media from a position seated on the former Prime Minister's desk.

"I speak for the Council and the Council speaks for the Free Pirate People of Eylandia. Hear my words. That's the formalities, now for the message.

First of all, greetings from the Captains Council of the Free Pirate People. We wish all nations well and invite you all to a Grand Conference to be held in our capital, New Plymouth, for the next month. The month will be filled with merriment and celebrations for the freed people of Eylandia. Come and enjoy our hospitality.

Secondly, we understand the suspicion that the Council's rule has drawn from other nations. Unfortunately, the good reputation of pirates has been tarnished by the more ... gung-ho. No ship under the Pirate Flag of Eylandia will raid international shipping. No Eylandian Captain may use that flag without the permission of the Council and if he is raiding under any other flag he does not enjoy the protection of the Council, although we completely respect the freedom of captains to act as they wish.

That said, we have no hard feelings against any of our regional friends. We're happy to work with any country that is open to mutually beneficial agreements. Likewise, our powerful fleets can be on your side if you pay a high enough price - and if you see our guns being levelled at your coast then we are always open to counter offers.

That all concludes what needed to be said. Go and have fun and do what you want, I know I am."

Pushkinskaya National News Broadcast
The PNNB was taken over by the rebelious populace that emerged in the Reich's capital after recent riots against the governments initiative on the disease outbreak.

In the latest days the Reich has been facing a horrible infection crisis, thousands of people have been infected with a lethal disease that the science teams have been unable to identify. The virus in his lethal state can kill a man in about two days, after that it goes into a dormant state and in this state it is not a hazard anymore but make impossible for it to be identified.
Image
The ReichFührer has ordered the Gestapo to round up every infected they can find and put them in the stalags, mass corpse burning have been autorized in the stalags to avoid this disease from spreading, non-compliant infected are violently dragged and if they show further resistance they are executed in place.
Image
Riots broke out among the population, and unrest is at its highest, many fear that Pushkinskaya will enter another bloody civil war, the Gestapo is responding very violently and riots have been known to end up in all out fights and even shootouts.

As seen on the images the Reich has entered another desperate chapter in its history, these days if you dont die of disease, beaten to death in the streets or being executed and burned in the stalags you have to die fighting against a government that no longer cares for its population and only cares to advance its own agenda. The pushkinskayan people had enough and we are ready to go against all odds.

The Captain's Council Speaks Through A Statement Released To World Media

We are the Council and the Council speaks for the Free Pirate People of Eylandia. Hear our words.

With a violent disease outbreak in Pushkinskaya the Council has taken the drastic step of ceasing links with that state for the time being. No Captains of Eylandia may sail there under the Council's flag and no international ships which have docked in Pushkinskaya in the last month may berth in our ports. The Council is here to protect our Free Pirate People from the terrible disease ravaging the Pushkinskaya population.

Our month of celebration has ended, and the world leaders who decided to accept our warm invitations have returned to their home nations. We hope that your visits furthered understanding between our peoples. This month the world has seen the true nature of the Free Pirate Revolution in Eylandia. Some have called us an Anarchy, we prefer Free, else there would be no Council! In meetings between your leaders and our High Captain trade deals have been done. We hope to continue building on these fruitful relationships. As ever, our ships are available for hire to the highest bidder.

The Council has watched the Space Race beginning in several regional nations with interest. We believe that Free Pirates in Space would be a positive step forward for space exploration, but the Council believes that ordering or funding a space programme would be against our ethos. If the free Pirate People wish to go to space they will begin the project themselves and we will support them as we can; but as yet there is no interest amongst the people for space adventures and pirating.

The end of the Reich?

Following a wave of violent riots and a unknown disease the death toll in Pushkinskaya has reached alarmingly hundreds of thousands. The Reich has dispached the army to deal with rebels but the army was affected by the disease and has lost almost 70% of their force.

Among the rioting rebels one group has been gathering alot of power, they call themselves Spartans, they are very well organized and well armed, fighting to overthrow the fascist government the group is achieving many victories against government forces. The Spartans already have some scientist sympatizers working on the disease in hopes to find a cure.
Image
The Spartan Movement Flag

The fighting has been bloody, the government officials are all holed in the Reichstag on the heart of the city, rebel forces are approaching rapidly despite the Reich's forces best soldiers trying to hold them back, many say the Reich's days are numbered.

The unknown disease is spreading rapidly and scientists say that it is reaching the pushkinskayan borders and so nearby nations should be carefull, people still don't know how it is transmitted but sources fear that it can be airborne or I can be infecting through water supplies, the theories just keep coming.

And now more images of the riots.

Ban on Meat Heavily Critizised

Leer (mvb) - After the arrest of a mayor meat smuggler's ring in Friedeberg by the Wittmund police three days ago, more and more political commentators and citizens' initiatives have lobbied for a relaxation of meat-related laws.
Although meat is not officially banned, it's production has been regulated and it's import forbidden to the point where prices have been unaffordable for years. Because with the independence all the non-constitutional laws have been taken over from Newer Austrian times, so have the laws on the regulations on meat production.
The day before yesterday, many dairy farmers have rallied in front of Leer City Hall to voice their wish for a relaxation on meat selling restrictions. Many passers-by have joined their protest. "Every sunday we go to Wilhelmshaven in Copenhagen Metropolis to eat a steak. And we are still alve", says Heiner Ahlrichs, one of the protesters. "The prohibition of this delicacy is unnecessary. Meat just tastes great and it is a bad thing, that we are forbidden to eat it."
"Harrijasses nee!", comments Hinrich van Göns, chairman of the Greens, to our journalist yesterday. "Did you smell the countryside air recently? You just smell the typical fertilizer, cow dung. Meat production results in a lot of excremental waste, that is difficult to dispose of properly and smells chemical due to all the drugs. That shooes away all my birds for watching." Further he adds: "The last census has shown that the East Frisian citizen is above average healthy in contrast to other Nordic Lands. I am sure, that the abstination on meat is to blame for that. I mean, positive blame. We should not change anything, because cheap meat is especially unhealthy."
The government has not yet formalized an official statement, but the OFRK has issued a press release, that reads like this: "For the economy a wide range of products is without alternative. Especially in light of recent news from Pushkinskaya, the import laws should remain as strict as they are, but the production of meat in our country should be made possible again, if demand exists. It is an expression of freedom to determine for yourself, what you eat, even it is ecologically harmful food." Government legislature is expected during the day.

Pro: Nelson Mandela, vegetarianism, freedom of speech
Con: Holocaust denial, pointless discussions

Nuclear problems.

Military Broadcast

ReichFührer Hans Ostentov appears sitting in his desk on the Reichstag, he has a very sad look on his face. Soon a military officer puts a small box next to the Führer, Hans opens the box and picks up a red phone.

"Initiate the countdown, we have lost." He says on the phone.

Then he turns to the camera and adresses the people of Pushkinskaya.

"Citizens of the Reich, tonight it is with sadness that I announce the end of our glorious Reich, by the means of disease and revolution. But I am not ready to deliver my beloved homeland into the hands of communists and liberals, I have just initiated what I call Operation Hellfire, the operation is as follows, we have researched nuclear energy in Labs X-18, we have tested our missile technology on Sjealland and Fyn's territory... we have managed to create bombs. Operation Hellfire was designated to launch warheads into the capitals and military bases of every nation in the region, and soon after the Reich's armies would take over and our glorious plan would finally have been succeded. Sadly things didn't go the way they were supposed to go, we now have rioters ready to bring down the doors of the Reichstag. I will not let them have their way, Operation Hellfire has now been made to target every city and village in Pushkinskayan territory, if the Reich can't control this region... nobody can."

The video feed cuts, but audio remains. The fighting in the streets is loud, screams of rioters and soldiers can be heard at all times, suddenly a second of silence and then the screams of desperation as many people can be heard running around the Reichstag screaming "Get to the bunkers quickly, activate the main bunkers in the city, maybe we can save some of the population." After 10 minutes a big explosion is heard and 2 seconds later the transmition stops.

Every major city in Pushkinskaya is destroyed, some people managed to get into radiation bunkers and saved themselves, but these make up only 5% of the population, some others survived simply because they lived in the most remote areas of the nation. Puhskinskayans now are on their own, while many people decided to try and travel to other parts of the region many anarchists remain, saying that this is the chance to rebuild without a government to lead them, but what these anarchist groups actually are is just a bunch of raiders and bandits.

No one has heard from the former government, so everyone assumes that the Reich just died out and any surviving members just disbanded so that they wouldn't be persecuted. The ReichFührer is presumed dead.

The current "leaders" are bandit leaders and gangs, the areas not affected by radiation are a perfect place to conduct illegal activities now that there is no law to obey. Some warlords have estabilished themselves in rural areas, the strongest warlord and the only one with connections with outside nations is Warlord Vezhin, so it is assumed by the international community that he is the one ruling right now.

Nations of Nordic Lands

In conjunction with Wehrwolves, SdKfz 186 is seeking any members of the former Pushkinskaya Reich Military Command and Political Command Hierarchy. We seek to hold them accountable for damages and fatalities resulting from their negligent use of Nuclear Armament.

The Coalition Force of our Two nations will be sending armored columns to sweep what remains of Pushkinskaya in search of those we mean to hold accountable. It is NOT our intention to interfere with or combat any forces besides those of the former Reich.

Consider this a Warning to any faction that attempts to hinder our search, if engaged our troops will return fire with extreme prejudice, But again I would like to stress that we do not intend to interfere with any faction that is not harboring or that is not associated with the former Reich.

Furthermore, I would strongly suggest any nation that may be playing host to any persons that they think we may be interested in to contact my Chancellery Office directly and discretely.

Justice will be ours

-Lord Chancellor Faust
