- Same sex sexual activity
Completely legal.

- Recognition of same sex relationships
Completely legal. The population is very liberal and some places were LGBT-friendly since the early 20th century.

- Same sex marriage
Legal in all states since 1985.

- Same sex adoption
Legal in all states since 1985. Currently on the rise.

- Allowed to serve openly in the military
According to the constitution, the Renetopian military doesn't exist as a standard army. It's a collective of special forces (kinda like the FBI, CIA, SWAT, rangers, counter-terrorist units) that merge as one army in case of war. LGBT people are allowed to openly serve in all of them.

- Anti Discrimination Laws
The constitution says that all citizens are to be treated as equal. Discrimination based on race, gender, ethnicity, religion, age, monetary status, intelligence, personal opinions and sexuality is illegal.

- Laws concerning gender identity/expression
Transgender and gender-queer people aren't common. Anyone over 18 years old can get a relatively cheap gender change operation. Teens that are biologically one gender but identify themselves as another are encouraged to change if they feel like it's what's best for them. They are referred to as the gender which they choose, although legally they're classified as the gender they were born with.

Anti Discrimination Laws

Quite simply yes to all of the above.

Laws concerning gender identity/expression

This is built into the Personal Freedoms Act, which includes the right to freedom of expression. It also offers individuals the right not to exercise such freedoms - i.e. no-one can be forced to divulge their sexual orientation against their will. Employers are prohibited from even asking their staff and/or interviewees about their orientation and the only public authority allowed to do so is the Population Census Loft (though even in that case the question must be optional).

Pigeontree has always prided itself in its welcoming and non-discriminatory attitudes and as such this is one of those rare issues about which all political parties are in complete agreement; with the exception of occasional murmurings from the Socialist Party, who have a tendency to disagree with just about everything.

Marriage and relationships between consenting adults are not officially mandated by the government of the NGU. Therefore, same-sex couples and homosexuals have the same rights as everyone else.

Recognition of same sex relationships

Same sex marriage
Yes, please note civil partnerships exist but have nothing to do with sexual orientation. Please see relevant factbook.

Same sex adoption
Yes, but in practice it's easier for lesbian couples to adopt as opposed to gay couples. This is in spite of anti-discrimination laws.

Allowed to serve openly in the military
Yes, with one exception - sexual assault cases, normally a soldier accused of sexual assault is reassigned to one of the few remaining gender segregated units (they exist for traditional reasons the military is otherwise fully integrated) after a year's suspension with reduced pay, this is a problem with bi or homosexual soldiers who are reassigned to desk jobs pending the same review board other soldiers face when their year's suspension is up.

Anti Discrimination Laws
Yes but by definition the laws may in no way favor any group over another.

Laws concerning gender identity/expression
Yes

- Same sex sexual activity
There have been no laws against this since the founding of Sorashima.
- Recognition of same sex relationships
The governments of most prefectures extend the same benefits to all couples, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender of their partner
- Same sex marriage
No laws have been made against same-sex marriage either, therefore, many modern declarations in Sorashima's cities and prefectures have supported the recognition of marriages between two people of any gender.
- Same sex adoption
Legal since 2004, when exclusionary policies in some prefectures were reversed.
- Allowed to serve openly in the military
Yes.
- Anti Discrimination Laws
Protections in most prefectures and cities, limited nation-level protections, mostly for transgender or transsexual individuals.
- Laws concerning gender identity/expression
Anyone may change their gender identification at any time, regardless of their sex at the time. Current policy in most prefectures and cities, however, restricts identification between a masculine or feminine gender identity. Some cities, such as Shinkyou, the capital, have a third category of "Other," "Unassigned," or "Non-conforming."
