Most Spanish people speak three or more languages. The most popular languages to learn here are English, German, Arabic, Catalan, French, Basque and Dutch. It is hard to find a job here if you're a monoglot.

Most Kiravians are bi- or tri-lingual.

Generally, one speaks one's ethnic language and Kiravic Coscivian, which is the medium of instruction in all secondary schools and serves as the language of interethnic communication.

Those who pursue higher education also read and write Iatic Coscivian, which is the classical language of Coscivian civilisation (compare Latin in Western civilisation, but used more vigourously).

It is also common to learn the languages of some of the other major ethnic groups in one's area, at least on a basic level.

No, multilingualism is more popular. Our people's native language is Kalashi, and anybody who can't speak adequate English fails schooling and cannot graduate, despite their performance in other subjects). It is very common and encourage for students and people who have finished school to learn a third language (compulsory up until 14 years old in our schooling system, although, you don't have to achieve good results). Greek is a very popular language, so popular that it can be considered a secondary language of our nation. Other somewhat popular languages include Russian, Italian, German, Mandarin, Cantonese, Hebrew and Arabic

Kalaspia-Shimarata's flag represents the Union between K&S. The dark blue represents the sea and the light blue represents the sky. In Kalashi language considers light blue and dark blue to be different colours. England colonised, and unified K&S, between 1774 and 1953, and English, light blue and dark blue are considered to be the same colour. Therefore, the contrast between dark blue and light blue represents the union, but the differences between K&S where as blue being two but simultaneously one colour represents K&S being two, but simultaniously one entity. The opposite to the symmetry represents the unity and indipendance of K&S, whilst also representing the Kalashi culture of opposite symmetry.KS is 75% Christian, hence the cross.

Bilingualism and polylingualism is common with most people speaking at least one additional language to a acceptable level of fluency.

About a quarter of the population can speak at least one foreign language with a native level of fluency.

Incredibly common! Only about 3/5 of the population speak the official language as a mother tongue, so the rest have to learn it. In school, most Spanish speakers ten to take English and learn it (it's the Mother tongue of about 1/3). Also, the Eskeckii Creole vernacular languages that are common among the streets and mixed cities. Plus, Portuguese is common as is Galician (old colonial memories)

If the educational system had its way, everyone would know at least Phocidaean and English, if not a third language. The educational system doesn't always work. However, most Phocidaeans are familiar with the English language, and many also know a third.

As much as we loathe sharing this planet with the hives of wretched, greedy, disease-riddled flesh beasts that dare to call themselves "human", it is deemed necessary on a diplomatic basis for a majority of Blakullarans to dirty their mouths with a compilation of drivel that spews from the jaws of foreigners, as well as speaking the native language.

In other, friendlier words, bilingualism is fairly common in the nation.

In Susria, in order for you to enter the country you must speak Susrian and at least one other language (preferably one that the regime approves of).
In schools in Susria you may not pass a grade without taking a test on the language you are taught either nationally, provincially, or out of your own interest.

So it is safe to say that the majority of people in Susria are trilingual or bilingual, those only speaking one language are seen as idiots.

Yes. The Goverment mostly uses Latin in official communiques, while the population mostly speaks either French or Dutch, so it is well advised to be reasonably well versed in all three languages.

About 49% of the population has basic knowledge on a different language. About 25% has basic knowledge on three languages.

About only 16% can fluently speak another language. Only about 3% is fluent in there languages. About only 0.2% of the population can fluently speak four or more languages.
