CANON UPDATE (OOC):
I have given this a lot of thought and I have decided to do some major changes to the Walosian History Canon.

The largest change that I will be doing is the removal of the “Walosian-Khelsharian War of 2009” and the following abdication of Empress Liat as well as the removal of the character Liat completely. The reason why is because I have developed my nation into a more realistic fashion during the 2014-2015 era and after reviewing older post I see that the war and abdication of Liat is both unrealistic, doesn’t fit with the overall nation and is simply unprofessional.

Is Prostitution Legal in your Nation?
Yes.

If it is, is it regulated in any way?
We have colleges which teach prostitution and all of the finer skills that go with it, and all prostitutes (both male and female) must be licensed and charge only those fees as are set out by Parliament. Prostitution without a licence or valid certificate of clean health is punishable mainly by imprisonment. Controversially, all women who are unemployed for six months or more must register as prostitutes and make their services available if they wish to continue to draw unemployment benefits.

What is the government's stance on the issue?
It is well known that many government ministers use the services of prostitutes, so our government has no issue with it. Incidentally, we refer to prostitutes as Sex Operatives.

What are your citizens thoughts on the issue?
Most are happy with it.

Are there any major groups (Religions, Businesses, Political Parties, ect) that support it?
Access to Sex Operatives is often provided to employees as a perk by large companies. All but one of our registered political parties supports it.

Are there any major groups (Religions, Businesses, Political Parties, ect) that do not support it?
The Ornate Church of the Chauveran Higher Spiritasmus – which has around 1,000 members nationally – is opposed to prostitution.
The Green Party is also opposed to it.

Is it important to the economy in anyway?
There is a fee to register as a Sex Operative, so there would obviously be lost revenue for the government if prostitution did not exist. There have also been private studies which suggest that productivity within the average business would drop by up to 40% if workers were unable to access Sex Operatives due to increased tension and frustration.

Anything Else?
We believe that the work done by Sex Operatives is both noble and important, and as such anyone working as one is entitled to claim income tax relief (30% reduction for the first year, 75% reduction in the second year and total exemption from income tax thereafter). This is not only because we acknowledge the intimate and personal nature of sex work, but also because we believe it to be directly linked to our citizens' happiness – indeed, surveys of long-term single men have shown that those who never access Sex Operatives are generally twice as likely to develop clinical depression as a result of loneliness than those who do.

Is Prostitution Legal in your Nation?
No
If it is not, how is it enforced and how are citizens dealt with should they commit it ?
Regulation is executed by the Radecstein Internal Operations Unit of the Radecstein State Police. The Unit is responsible for mitigating Class-III offenses, such as prostitution. Offenders arrested for the said offense will be detained and summarily executed without trial. Mode of execution is by quartering publicly. The remains are denied burial and will be processed into biofuel.
What is the government's stance on the issue?
Prostitutes are considered to be the scum of society, and must be immediately liquidated.
What are your citizens thoughts on the issue?
N/A. Sympathizers to offenders shall be treated as equally guilty and shall be dealt with severely. Punishment for the Sympathizers include one week under torture by the Death Squad or mutilation, all without trial

Is Prostitution Legal in your Nation? Yes.
If it is, is it regulated in any way?No, but they are unionized so their rights would not be violated.
If it is not legal, what does your nation do to the citizens that commit the crime? It's legal.
What is the government's stance on the issue? It's their own bodies and they can do whatever they want with what is theirs.
What are your citizens thoughts on the issue? Indifferent for the most part, but there are portions that see it as either unhealthy or immoral.
Are there any major groups (Religions, Businesses, Political Parties, ect) that support it? Progressive Reform Party started the 'Oma keho, oma lupa' -campaign to legalize prostitution alongside deregulating drugs and got Center Party's, National Coalition's and The Greens' support behind them.
Are there any major groups (Religions, Businesses, Political Parties, ect) that do not support it? Republican Fatherland, an Estonian national conservative party is merely skeptical about it, but the harshest opposition comes from True Finns, Christian Democrats and Change 2014. The Evangelical Lutheran and Greek Catholic churches see it as immoral and often campaign for its criminalization.
Is it important to the economy in anyway? It makes jobs (no pun intended) just like any other profession and brings variety to services, making our country even more competitive.
Anything Else? We have trade unions for prostitutes.

If it is not legal, what does your nation do to the citizens that commit the crime? It depends on the case if it involves human trafficking it's an immediate life sentence and a 10,000 pound fine on the criminal for every human handled. If it is a group that decide to form a brothel they are all given 40 years in prison with a fine of 5000 each.
What is the government's stance on the issue? More punishment for offenders
What are your citizens thoughts on the issue? Mutilate the offenders genitals

Is Prostitution Legal in your Nation? Yes
If it is, is it regulated in any way? You cannot cause or incite prostitution, control it for personal gain, run a brothel, loiter or solicit sex on the street. Advertisements and human trafficking are also banned.
If it is not legal, what does your nation do to the citizens that commit the crime? N/A
What is the government's stance on the issue? The government has not stated if they support prostitution or not. They did consider banning prostitution at one point, but scrapped the idea because of lack of public support. There are government schemes to help get prostitutes off the streets, and educate people about prostitution.
What are your citizens thoughts on the issue? Many citizens have no issue with prostitution. There are campaign groups against prostitution formed by parents across Denbigh whose daughters have become prostitutes due to lack of money, or have been victims of human trafficking.
Are there any major groups (Religions, Businesses, Political Parties, ect) that support it? No
Are there any major groups (Religions, Businesses, Political Parties, ect) that do not support it? The Church of Denbigh

Is Prostitution Legal in your Nation? Yes.
If it is, is it regulated in any way? All prostitutes must be at least eighteen years old and consent to their company and clients. Additionally, all prostitutes and their clients must meet health and safety regulations, including using condoms and given negative results for STD checks.
If it is not legal, what does your nation do to the citizens that commit the crime? n/a
What is the government's stance on the issue? The government, while not supportive of prostitution, believes that citizens should have the right to do whatever they want with their body, so long as they are not hurting others, and therefore allows prostitution. (Several politicians discourage the act, however.)
What are your citizens thoughts on the issue? Most citizens share the government's stance in that they do not support prostitution, but tolerate it. As expected, there is a rather vocal minority that insists that prostitutes and their clients face eternal damnation.
Are there any major groups (Religions, Businesses, Political Parties, ect) that support it? The Liberal Party supports prostitution, as do the businesses that provide prostitution services.
Are there any major groups (Religions, Businesses, Political Parties, ect) that do not support it? Several more conservative religions are strongly against prostitution, although they are the vast minority.
Is it important to the economy in anyway? The prostitution industry provides a boost to the economy (the industry is worth approximately Ѥ600 million), but it would not be too detrimental to the economy if it were eliminated.
Anything Else? Not really.

Is Prostitution Legal in your Nation?
Of course it is. The government has no place to ban or regulate the free trade of goods and/or services that would be legal if it were free. Nor does it have the authority to regulate the free exchange between consenting adults of goods and services.
If it is, is it regulated in any way?
Nope. See previous response.
If it is not legal, what does your nation do to the citizens that commit the crime?
N/A
What is the government's stance on the issue?
The national government of the Imperium officially discourages such behavior, however does not regulate it in any way due to the Imperium's Constitution.
What are your citizens thoughts on the issue?
You'd have to ask them.
Are there any major groups (Religions, Businesses, Political Parties, ect) that support it?
No.
Are there any major groups (Religions, Businesses, Political Parties, ect) that do not support it?
The average joe.
Is it important to the economy in anyway?
It is not significant enough to noticeably effect the economy.
Anything Else?
Nope.

If it is not legal, what does your nation do to the citizens that commit the crime? It is illegal to buy sex, but not to sell them. This is similar to Swedish law. The maximum penalty is 1 year imprisonment or a $25 (£300) fine minimum for each proven instance, depending on the severity (source).
What is the government's stance on the issue? Minoa has a long track record of opposing the exploitation of women, and it considers prostitution as exploitation. Additionally, it faces problems with neighbouring countries doing little to prevent human trafficking into Minoa.

Prostitution here is only legal when the prostitute is between the ages of 17-23 and weighs no more than 165 lbs and no less than 155 lbs. The customer must be between the ages of 14-18 and can only take place in the act of prostitution if he/she is a virgin and has been legally deemed 'unable to get any', the act of prostitution must also be in a hotel, costing no more than $60 per night, have one armed guard at the hotel entrance, and the prostitute and the customer must leave in two separate black sedans, which must sub sequentially be set on fire and driven into the ocean in waters no less than 12 ft deep no more than 60 ft deep. After the act, the customer must sign a wavier as to not disclose the identity of the prostitute. Only under these conditions is prostitution ever legal in Neo Sp00nlandaquaforcego.

That mean they did sale their body for money/jobs/promotions/information (reporters & journalists)/properties (buy/sale house/stock-bond...) or pay their loan/debt. Some Blawellan men do it too but less than women at a significant number. One can say Blawell is a nation where sex can buy you almost anything.

b]Is Prostitution Legal in your Nation?[/b] YES
If it is, is it regulated in any way? NO, except it is subject to minimum wage law like any other job, and it is a risky and physically laborious job so the minimum wage is at least $10/h probably more. Most prostitutes charge at least $1000 worth/5 min, or a prostitute may charge a lower price if they live with the john long-term (in many cases the john gives the prostitute 1/2 of the johns house, a car, plus other lavish items, in return for the prostitute to live with and have x with the john long term.) Government workers who participate in prostitution are banned from gov jobs.
If it is not legal, what does your nation do to the citizens that commit the crime?
What is the government's stance on the issue? The government funds an anti-prostitution campaign including TV and radio announcements on non-gov channels in ad time slots, and pamphlets sent to all inhabitants telling them that 99%+ of prostitutes don’t like the job, they do it out of desperation for $ or are slaves coerced or forced by their pimps to do it, plus std and pregnancy risks, demotes unprotected x and encourages sterilization, std tests...
What are your citizens thoughts on the issue? Most discourage prostitution.
Are there any major groups (Religions, Businesses, Political Parties, ect) that support it? The prostitution, porn, pimp, and brothel business support it. There are no other major groups that encourage it. Most Freemopians think it should be legal.
Are there any major groups (Religions, Businesses, Political Parties, ect) that do not support it? The majority of Freemopians discourage it and think it should be legal.
Is it important to the economy in anyway? NO. It’s bad for the economy. It’s a waste of time and resources, plus often leads to STDs and unwanted pregnancy. It is taxed as a lavish item, thus is taxed higher than non-lavish items.
Anything Else? Prostitution is not common in Freemopia, in large part because laws that protect individuals from mean pimps/abusers/kidnappers/slavers..., welfare, people have the right to arms to protect them self, finding descent jobs is not that hard because of tax cuts on survival product manufactures and import tariffs, and anti-prostitution campaign.
There are no age limits for anything and Freemopians have the right to self endanger and self injure them self.
Freemopia does not discriminate based on martial status and is not allowed to recognize the word marriage, this helps reduce prostitution compared to some other nations that give benefits to prostitutes and johns who buy a certain piece of paper.
