Unfortunately for you, our soldiers are trained to think of the enemy as worthless subhuman animals. That's how we keep morale up: soldiers are conditioned to relish in the slaughter of the enemy's people. Sometimes, after capturing a city, they will go and burn homes and blow up public buildings for fun. It demoralizes the enemy and keeps our guys entertained.

In the four previous cases of this happening in our recent history international pressure, media coverage and intervention has stopped the genocide. In a worst case scenario we can always just move out community elsewhere, like we did twice before.

Regular Army: 80.000
Army Reserve: 63.000
Navy: 62.000
Air Force: 45.000
Militia: 100.000

Army

Roughly 70% of the Regular Army consists of combat units. Most of the standing army consists of mechanized infantry forces, supplemented by a force of armored units. The Reserves on the other hand, almost wholly consists of logistic and support units that augment the Regulars in times of war, often meeting the Army's need for transport, Air Defence, and logistical roles that are not filled by the Regulars.

Navy

The Navy is mostly delegated to costal defence. It maintains a small force of attack subs and frigates that patrol Halzak's waters.

Air Force

The Air Force consists of multiple heliborne squadrons that provide the army close support and air mobil capabilities. There also several fixed wing squadrons that are dedicated to mainting air supremacy over the small nation.

Militia

The Militia is an infantry based force that is utilized to defend static positions. Often spread across villages, towns, and cities, the size of their forces in areas often vary in size from a few squads to full infantry regiments. Their heavist armament consists of squad automatic machine guns, ATGMs, and shoulder AA weapons (such as the stinger).

I approve of this greatly, enjoy this humorous image I made just for this occasion.

Our entire population. We officially have 5% "Active" military, but truth be told, that figure is only used for diplomacy - the planet Cybertron is pretty much a huge military base, and everyone knows that a 50% callup wouldn't be all that special. We even left the planet empty (except for one dude) to finish the battle against the Autobots, and didn't stop until we'd sent the last one screaming into the slag.

If a decent war broke out, chances are everyone would join in whether the government said to or not. Even without one, the "inactive" military passes the time by raiding. We don't worry about the economy like most nations - if supplies get short, the solution is simple: RAID EVEN MORE!

Vestbredden wrote:Would your soldiers use gas bombs and flamethrowers against a peaceful civil population including women and children, even infants?

Sure. Those are members of a different species; their age and gender means nothing to us.

Although we would likely blast 'em instead of using gas bombs or flamethrowers.

Would you meet peaceful protests with bullets and violence?
More like lasers and energy blasts. But yes. Rebellion is rebellion.

We have seen how some foolish Earthian governments let themselves get overthrown by such "nonviolent" nonsense. WE, on the other hand, have the sense to focus on WHAT the enemy is trying to do, not on HOW. And trying to interfere with our government via any means is punished with death!!

Would you your soldiers stab a little girl that just want to give them a hug?

Image

(Of course, the scene wouldn't be quite as pictured. At that age, she'd be lucky to get her arms around one of our fingers. (But that may be even cuter.))

Stabbing her would be a waste of a free laborer. Since she'd already be showing affection to a Decepticon, we would see fit to take her to the Education Center and brainwash her into being our obedient slave. She looks so affectionate toward the soldier that it may even be possible to truly turn her to our side and make her into one of our Foreign Intelligence agents.

If it didn't take, she would be taken to Biological Rendering just like any other defective human.

The last seven military invasions have all ended in the attaing troops refusing to fight and instead joined out population, nobody want to live in a military dictatorship.

Ha ha ha! Where is this place! We will gladly fight a pacifist nation that doesn't have some ultra-military FT ally hiding behind it. And as for nobody wanting to live in our military dictatorship? People seem to stop saying such nonsense when they're looking down the barrel of an energy blaster. It works even better than sending them to Debugging.

Edit: Fixed quoting

International opinion means nothing. Part of the reason we have such a large military budget (and nuclear arsenal) is so that we can give the world a big fat one-finger salute and get away with it.

I have to admit, I get seriously annoyed at people's lack of comprehension regarding large numbers of individuals and the effects this would truly have. An example of this was one time a while ago, when I was playing D&D with some friends, and there was a siege scene at the walls of some huge citadel. According to the DM, there were "millions of fighters" involved. WTF?

The same seems to happen in NS, partly because population sizes are ridiculous. Some nations have armies of hundreds of millions, from populations stretching well into the thousands of millions. That's like having the whole of the United States just to station your army. Logistics would be painful, and your so-called "nation" would be more like a loosely connected federation of states. (How can so many people have the commonality of a smaller more tightly-knit nation?)

Not only does all this make for some seriously farfetched RPing, but can you imagine how long it would take to defeat an army of 73 million? Any and all roleplays relating to such a war would merely be an insignificant speck amongst a ridiculously unbelievable bloodbath, that is unless you are willing to relinquish the minutiae that make character roleplaying so captivating and interesting.

For this reason, I feel forced to have two army sizes and populations (yes, I know that rant was kind of torn between massive militaries and populations in general).

In the first, my population should reach no more that 250 million and my military should be just over 1 million. This I would use for detailed and interest roleplay with like-minded NSers.

In the second, I simply use my NS population of around 3 billion and use 5% of this value - that is, 150,000,000 :palm: - for my armed forces.

I'm thinking of starting a society - not an alliance or IC organisation - but a group of NSers who use lower populations (MT only, as FT is often on an interplanetary scale, therefore requiring much larger populations). If anyone's with me on this idea, please feel free to drop me a TG.

Right now the professional Armed Forces of Vukanova are small.

******************************

First, you have the National Guard, built around three mechanized combat brigades, an independent heavy artillery battalion, independent Military Police, Commando and Combat Engineers battalions, and all of the necessary support elements.

Each of the mechanized brigades also has smaller, organic MP, CE and artillery forces.

National Guard personnel numbers are at roughly 20,000 without mobilization of Citizen Force units and Militia.

******************************

Next, there is the Air Force, which has three dozen MiG-29 'Fulcrum' aerial superiority fighters, divided in to three squadrons. They operate roughly two dozen self-propelled SAM missile systems in a single aerial defense battalion. They also have eight MI-8 'Hip' helicopters, and an integral Transport Command of five dedicated aircraft, including an Antonov An-72. This force may be augmented by requisitioned civilian aircraft.

Personnel levels in the Air Force currently sit at roughly 2,000.

******************************

Finally, there is the Navy, which at this point really consists of a couple Svetlyak-class patrol ships, and eight Super Dvora Mk II-class security boats. There is also the Navy Diving Unit, a clandestine force officially listed as a training command.

Navy personnel strength currently rests at approximately 2,500.
