B/c in the event of a war I'd have added the reserves 32 MBTs directly to the Armoured Division which would have raised the total number of tanks to 112.

80-112 tanks would be more in line with what a Brigade would have, and there are typically 2-4 Brigades per Division in most armies, so you may be short-changing yourself there, unless you have intentionally small divisions to enhance maneuverability and flexibility.

80-112 tanks would be more in line with what a Brigade would have, and there are typically 2-4 Brigades per Division in most armies, so you may be short-changing yourself there, unless you have intentionally small divisions to enhance maneuverability and flexibility.

I prefer to think of my divisions as self-contained armies that have all their logistical and combat needs roled into one, so my armoured division of 15,000 would have approxiatmely 4500 to 7500 combat personal. And with 80 tanks (each with a crew of 4) that accounts for 320 crewman. Dividing the tanks into platoons of 4 gives me a force of about 20 tank platoons on active duty. However, adding the additional 8 platoons that are in reserve brings the total number of T. Platoons to 28, which divides into 7 Tank Companies (roughly two battalions).

Additionally there is the mechanized infantry that support them, so each Mech. Inf. platoon would have about 44 troops (4 M113s plus the 2 crewman for each, so about 52 soldeirs in each platoon). A single MI company would have about 208 combatives (16 APCs), while a battalion (three companies each) would have 624 soldiers; 48 APCs. So perhaps three battalions would be in the A. Division (1872 troops; 144 APCs)

So total personal equates to about 2192 Soldiers; 2320 if I count the reserve tank crews. This still leaves the Paladin and M48 crews to be counted, and the ATGM M113 crews aswell.

M48s have crews of 2, so that equates to 40 crewman for the M48s. The M48s would be divided into platoons of 4, giving me a single AA Company of 5 platoons.

The M901 ITV (a TOW M113 derivative) has a crew of four, and since I want a company of these that gives me a company of 16 of these babies with 64 crewman.

The Paladins, I'm using the A6 versions, have crews of 8, so thats another 320 crew alone. Going by the traditional battery getup I have 10 batteries, divided into companies of three batteries (one company with four). So that'll be a single battalion as all three would be grouped together.

Adding my totals now I have 2616 combatives active duty (2744 including reserve tanks). I'm left with 40 M113s unassigned and (at the minium) 1884 troops to a maxium of 4884 troops left unassigned. Since I have lots of trucks I can utilize motor infantry, so here goes...

Using a platoon of 60 troops, I can have Inf. companies of 240 combatives. Which means I can have a battalion of 960 soldiers. Adding two battalions to the division will mean 1920 troops.

At this point I have a division of some 4536 active duty combat personal, roughly 30% of the division's total manpower (I'm basing this off of 30-50% Army Combatives that some people have refrenced in past posts). That means that I have a logistical and support personal at 10464 (Hospital, Maintence, Cooks, Command Staff, ect) or 69.7-70% of the division's manpower.

That means I'll have the following in my armoured division:

2 Tank Battalions
3 Mech. Inf. Battalions
1 AA Company
1 Anti-Tank Company (M901 ITV)
1 Self-propelled Artillery Battalion (155 Howitzer)
2 Inf. Battalions (Motor Infantry)

The remainder M113s can be assigned to Armoured Command Staff at the Company and Battalion levels (and Mech. Infantry). If I wanted I could add another 2 Motor Infantry Battalions (bringing total combat personal to 6456 combatives) if anyone feels my combat troop levels are a little low. In Which case the number of logistical and support personal would be 8544 (57% of division manpower).

Hm...lower your military sizes down, stay within a reasonable range with your budget. If you have crafts like upper generation aircrafts or state of the art ships or tanks, that's the more reason why you need to lower your military size in accordance to your military budget. Even if you manage to buy all of them, those crafts would be way overmanned and you have idle personnel running around everywhere.
