I estimated that they'd be about 4-4.5g, so yeah, that's pretty light. What should I do to increase the SD?

Use lead.

Also, that sounds a bit high.

No they will likely call tanknutdave or someother member of one of the MV owners associations who will tut tut and SHAME you into giving yourself up (or at least getting your tracked vehicle license) lest you be SHUNNED by the great community (no more landrover/FV432 parts for you boyyo! and no special invitation to the MoD sales when they sneak cheiftans, challengers and centurions onto the auction block!).

Seriously driving military vehciels on britians roads is fairly easy, the license is a like a weeks work and the only thing that costs (other than the hours spent fixing bits) is the insurance, heck the fuel will often be free if you get something that will run on the results of putting petrol in a diesel engine (i.e. most russian and british armoured vehicles).

I just need to wait for the millions of moneys I will get once I finish my masterpiece novel, then all the Regulars are invited to a barbecue of much driving of AFV's.

Also I do have a bit more burny stuff so that my core does not actually touch the jacket. Is that a problem too?
I based my load off the 2nd from the left in that picture.

There's either a thin layer of lead between the core and the jacket, or the jacket is thicker in locations where engraving is going to take place (the second from the left and first on the left, respectively).

The incendiary composition between the jacket and the core in a location when engraving will take place is exactly what's wrong with your round.

I have no idea what engraving means in this context.

Engraving is when the bullet is traveling through the barrel and the rifling leaves the grooves on the bullet. I think

So basically I need to fill up the sides around the core where the flat part of the bullet is with lead?

What Ford said. Basically, the bullet gets squished a bit in some locations very suddenly.

Wasn't that were a guy somehow stole a tank? I'll make sure to find one which features locks and find a fine crew of scallywags to man the harpoons.

Allow me to rephrase.

I recall reading somewhere (here, I think) that, with modern/high end propellants, one could conceivably increase a cartridge's base velocity by 100-300m/s.
Is this true?

That fool obviously never learned how to drive tanks with much turning to throw unwanted passengers off.

I could swear at you, but I'm not going to.

I suggested that, with the alternative of just making the jacket thicker in that area coming a little later, right from the very start.

The current Super Performance powders add 100-200 ft/s to the MV. I tend to go towards the lower end of the scale to be sure.

Heh! I was. bit off there, wasn't I?

So, super performance powders, could they be cheap enough for military mass production?

I wonder, because even 100ft/s will put my carbine's velocity on par with that of my AR'.

Blended powders (what the SP powders are) should definitely be cheap enough for military use.

Oh, I don't know. Blended powders have allowed for things like .280 British performance from something as small as the 6.8 SPC.
