Good way to make indentifying company officers from staff officers hard. :P

And?

If I post a query about TRFs, that's also not relevant to anything that's ever been posted here (most likely).

So, let's go for it, do you use TRFs, and what are some of the more famous ones?

Normal routine. Copy Finland
I've two TRFs per soldier plus nationality flag. Like this. First is Nationality flag, Second shows brigade's/regiment's coat of arms with underlaying color showing parent battalion's/regiment's branch colour, while bottom one show's persons training badge.

I don't know who you are. I don't know why you post doge memes. If you are looking for fulfilment in life, I can tell you you won't find it. Kouralia wrote:Let's go at this again, do people use Imperial or Metric to classify ammunition? I use Imperial because I'm classy-as-all-bloody-hell-fire.

Metric. It's just easier to use, and it has more precise units.

3mm railgun
5mm railgun
5mm Light Carbine (SMGs and pistols)
7.62mm Shortstop (very short round for compact carbines and pistols)
7.62mm Corporate (heavy carbines and standard rifles)
9mm Heavy Pistol
12mm Heavy Shortstop
12.7mm Sniper Rifle (DMRs and anti-infantry sniper rifles)
12.7mm Barrett-Winters (Barrett-Winters marksman rifles)
12.7mm Assault (LMGs)
15mm Magnum Pistol
20mm Heavy Calibre (light autocannons, HMGs, and anti-materiel rifles)
25mm Imperial (medium autocannons and special purposes)
30mm Anaplian (medium autocannons)
30mm Harasser (grenade launchers)

On the subject of unit patches:
Corporate soldiers are assigned by ship rather than by unit, so insignias (aside from the Corporation logo, which everyone carries) typically consist of the ship's crest and the troop number (a 10 or 20 man troop being the standard unit - troops do not have individual "identities", as even their designation can change with a ship transfer). If a troop is assigned to an Extended Combat Group, a colour will be selected and added as trim to their armour. Very elite or special operations troops may have a unique insignia; by protocol this is a visual representation of the troop's codename.

Fraction troops are more likely to have a specific insignia, as Golem tend to form tight communities within a ship, making transfers much less common. There are also much smaller numbers of Golem, making each troop fairly unique and (relatively) well-known. Basically, Golem are less generic than Corporate soldiers.
Golem insignia do usually include their home ship's crest, much like their Corporate counterparts, but designs are extremely varied. Inspiration can range from the TC's helmet to a particularly vicious (and now defeated) enemy.
Note: Golem are required to wear the crest of their respective Fraction in addition to their troop insignia. This helps Council or Scout Fraction soldiers on special missions avoid getting mixed in with normal Strike Fraction Golem.

The most feared of all unit insignias is the Fraction's Iron Hope Guard - the Council Fraction top-line Golem who protect the artificial world at the heart of the Governance. They are mysterious, rarely seen, and clad in elaborate yet powerful heavy armour. Iron Hope Guards accompany the highest-ranking AIs and the most important people in the entire Governance, and are very, very dangerous.
The Iron Hope Guard insignia is a simple black planet with a single yellow ring, a basic representation of Iron Hope itself.

More well-known in New Visegrad itself is the sun-and-arc crest of the hyperbattleship HBA-054 Never A Dull Moment, permanently on guard at the capital. Since the ship very rarely sees combat but has a full complement of over five million soldiers, it's common to see its troops mixed in with those of local forces around the region. Rumour has it that every single resident of New Visegrad will, at some point in their life, see a trooper from Never A Dull Moment.

Edit: troopers who are specifically assigned to flight operations or starship maintenance also wear either a chevron or gear insignia, respectively.

Cold and gun heating should't affect decent casless ammo anymore than normal ammo and with decent lubricants and a bit of preperation normal guns can be made to to fucntion relaibly in temperatures that we can;t oeprate in without a lot of specialist gear. Cold migth afffect caseless ammo more i terms of making it even mroe birttle than usual.

Gun with traveling breachs don't need to look all that different from normal guns. the smplist travlign breach systems simply move the breach up and down for loading and firing or swings it to the side (still facing parrelell to the barrel) and both these actions are as easy to drive via a normal gas psiton system as a bolt carrier and rotating bolt.

The LSAT weapons don't look at all unsual and neither does stuff like the AAI ACR (which is admittedly a bit of a mystery in regards to its inner workings), the Steyr ACR does look a bit funny but that does seem to be mroe down to Steyrs decidely odd notions about asthetics at the time.

well, i chose CTA over polymer-cased ammo because one of the weapon i'm making is a P90-ish carbine (related to working mechanisms), and it needs to have rifle power with a short cartridge or else i'd need a lulzy tick receiever to fit that mag in. and i don't know if a p-90 style mech would work with all these lulzy LSAT mechanisms as i frankly don't have the slightest idea of how they work.

well the only thign specail about the P90 is its magazine, inside its just a plain old boring blowback action, which you will need to change anyway as such an action won't handle rifle ammunition pressures.

A P90 magazine woudl work with a push through mechanism. I.e. round drops through the ramp into the laoding postion, gets pushed forward (or backwards) into the breach which then drops into palce behidn the barrel. Gun fires, gas drives the oepratign psiton rearwards which rasies the breahc to the upper psotion and drives the rammer oepration with the new roudn pushign the old case straight out the front (or rear) of the breach and otu the ejection chute. if you want bottom ejection you would pretty much have to use a rearwards rammign action.

As i said you could use a more normal action where a gas piston just drives a bolt carrier and bolt backwards and forwards, its just not a particularly efficient way of using CTA.

Oh and the LSAT MG action has bugger all to do with the G-11.

yet if you actually look at page 10 of the source you will see how remarkably different the LSAT mechnism is.

heck the bracketed words after that horrid little sentence also point out the crucial difference and why its isn;t as complciated as the G11 (which isn't actually that complicated).

This appears to be where we started.

As a player, I'm telling you that you need to check your attitude. Perhaps you were attempting, and failing to convey, being factious. You probably won't enjoy it if I have to tell you as a mod to adjust your attitude, so, lets just go ahead knock it off now. There is absolutely no reason for such a response.

Or this one. Seriously, take it to F7 or TET, where this kind of nonsense belongs. It's well know that I tolerate a good amount of levity and off topicness, but, this is beyond the scope of this thread by so many light years, it fails to even fall into the same universe as relevant.

If I didn't know the both of you better, it could have been seen as actionable, as he's obviously trying to keep the thread on topic, and your action could be seen as a purposeful derail, or even trying to bait him into an angry response. and since it looks like you managed to get yourselves back in topic before I arrived, no actions needed.

And this isn't just addressed to the posters above. Anyone engaging in the sort of behavior outlined here should rethink it before continuing because, believe it or not, I have zero problem with taking your toy from you, and this is this particular topics last chance.

If the different rates are actually a thing and not a misinterpretation along the way then as Aqui said its most likely a rate reducer in the fire control group. Possibly a hammer delay or similar. As such the burst is fired at full cyclic rate but the rate is slowed for full auto.

So how do rate reducers work?

That's probably like asking how a lock works. They all do the same thing but many of them work differently. I doubt anyone here holds enough knowledge about mechanical know-wots and gizmos to really answer you.

You're probably going to have to go on a journey into the depths of the Internets to find your answer.
