Were you planning on using your precognition to ensure your head was in the path of the bullet, and not your torso,, asking the enemy to shoot you, or establishing terms before the battle that only head shots count.

If the third one, why not just settle your conflicts over a game of CounterStrike?

But it's heavy and causes physical injury when worn for long durations, but you're not being shot by snipers left and right I guess. Most NS armies wouldn't issue them, preferring to issue PASGT or something similar that protects from light shrapnel.

But heavy vests would have been a detriment, like they would be in any supposed Fulda Gap-esque WW3 which is the most RPed thing on NS I'm sure.

in answer to your statements of COIN, while we did train for COIN (COunter INsurgency, in case anyone still doesn't know what it means), we still had to maintain our readiness for conventional warfare. I have conducted amphibious assaults, air inserts and standard land assaults. Ask any [infantry] Marine what half of his time in 29 Palms is...conventional warfare.

now in reference to you views regarding NS warfare, you still have to weigh the options: 1) good maneuverability; less protection (saying that a fighting hole is better than armor seems to be a copout considering there is ZERO maneuverability from a static position), and 2) good protection; less maneuverability. Again, maybe you're planning on having your NS troops sprinting the whole time you're involved in a 12hr battle; maybe you shouldn't have armor. If fire and maneuver are part of your main infantry tactics, maybe armor has a place.

To be fair .577 boxer revolvers were used by a number of british officers disatisfied with the .450 Beaumont–Adams.

A vaguely similar .55cal pistol would work for a period Crookfur peice.
