There my armor again. Armored gauntlets, tactical wrist computer, HUD and a rebreather.

why are the guys in black armor with a red HUD? this way your enemies will have a bright red point to aim at easily.
anyways, i understand it's the rool-of-cool as red looks much better (and more frightening) with black than blue 9hence Helgast from killzone.)
well, apart form that, it's... perfect. or almost perfect. the art is flawless, as well as the design.

I just had a revelation today, lol. For the everymanaHUD fad, wouldn't it be a lot cheaper and more effective to just have TV goggles and one or more cameras to provide peripheral vision? Almost all technologies commercially used for see-through displays have various disadvantages over traditional full field of view displays, such as being able to display only one or a few colors, limited projection size, bad contrast/brightness, etc.

Classic displays using proven technologies such as LCD/LED will not have these problems. Additionally, they could automatically adjust things such as brightness in order to facilitate low light vision or to alleviate the effects of flashbangs, explosions, etc. Unlike the google glass-like products, you could project images of any size at any location on the soldier's field of view, with excellent resolution, brightness, contrast, and so on.

Eye strain, low FOV, low res cameras, motion blur issues, historically low screen resolutions, etc. It has been tried before, you know.

So... past the gas system, and detailing, I think ArchRifle is essentially done.

I had something planned for my 4000th post.

Would it be plausible to use gene therapy to increase resistance to biological, chemical and radiological weapons, as well as to reduce the chances of a soldier developing PTSD in the near future (2030-2040)?

Im going with no, because:
1. Less case capacity
2. Less aerodynamic bullet
Maybe within 100m they would be roughly on par but any further it would be in 7.62x39mms favors.

The 7.92x33mm has only 1.4 grains less of capacity, for the record, and maximum ogive length is only 1mm shorter. I reckon they could be made equal out to combat ranges.

What's the leg protection made from? Current/previous attempts at something similar have ended up sacrificing a lot of flexibility.

I just see targets for FIAsoldate sharpshooters, seriously "Here is my skull, make it touch oxygen due to the brightly and clearly showing colored 'kill me now, here I am'. Honestly, it's like the brightly colored kids' learning-targets are going out of sale at Cabelas.


Also, all of your have sharpened steel oriented questions, ask away.

I hadn't given it much consideration - it was more for the futuristic tacticool look. Although it could possibly be made of some thin Kevlar soaked in Poly Glycol.

Ulfr, I was looking into a modern bladed combat weapon for my troops last ditch and all that. Scenario being Close quarters Combat where you get jumped and you don't have your bayonet as it's attached to the rifle, it's for hallways, rooms, and the like. this is going to be wielded by augmented Soldiers wearing light power armor for the most part.
I might Do another type of bladed weapon for both my Black Disciples, and my Shadow teams

Well then, id' advise something kinda-like a broken-back seax. A perfect blend of chop, stab and parrying potential in regard to an effective close-quarters blade.
They can be varying in size, ranging from, genuine long swords to dirk-sized things. Think of that bayonet/cleaver I made for the Ulfrans not-so-long-ago.

Your khopesh is the best line art of a sword I have seen. Truly- But the khopesh is the worst sword ever. Period.

A very short retractable blade made out of steel infused with tiberium. Retractable not so that they can hide it, but so that they can be protected from accidentally stabbing them self. So dangerous it must be.

Alright then, take a gander at the shape and form of the boar-spear. adjust dimensions to suit your needs and presto, assassinating rib-shredding doom.

Basically, I mentioned that you'll want lead, not incendiary compound, surrounding the core in order to prevent the round from igniting in the barrel.
