So... past the gas system, and detailing, I think ArchRifle is essentially done.

Actually, question. Assuming the use of a short stroke piston, what would be visible through those vents?
Halp plz!

'Tis technically both. It is an (maybe) untextured internal magazine.

The rifle is charged by 36 round en-bloc clips (the waffle-y bit to the right).

Nope, it's looking good, and I see absolutely nothing wrong with it. it appears to be a good solid rifle.
may I ask why Enbloc? or is it just the design premise? I like the rifle But the magazine looks a little...... Protrusive.

Yes actually, if you don't mind.

We had this discussion last night but couldn't come to a conclusion.

Would a modernized 7.92x33 be roughly equal/better than 7.62x39? Presuming the latest/best powders, brass, bullets, etc.

1. AK Bayonet, probably the best all-around bayonet made to date. Granted, there are others, but as preference (and quite a few people agree) its basically a go anywhere, do anything kind of knife.
As a general rule its a good idea to have a utility tool, too. A bayonet does things that a utility knife cant, and vice versa. You cant rightly fuse the two in total while retaining the best of both worlds.

2. Im a fan of Partizan and EMR camouflages. Pactr and Ryab are also nice, just as a general range.
Multicam and CADPAT are pretty well liked.

Bezombia wrote:

Interesting.
Im going with no, because:
1. Less case capacity
2. Less aerodynamic bullet
Maybe within 100m they would be roughly on par but any further it would be in 7.62x39mms favors.

The Archangel Conglomerate wrote:What type of blade/point would be best for a modern bayonet/utility knife?

Im not a knife expert, im more of a utilitarian. Ulfr would know more about that. But take a look at this.

Which one? From what I understand there are several different types like the one with the steel box on the handle, the new plastic one etc. Also, how durable is the plastic?

Also, did you see the finished text for my bullet?

Pretty much.
I decided that, since the GwPat-70 (formerly GwPat-80) was such a fantastically compact and lightweight cartridge, I could afford to do something other than the standard detachable box mag. En-bloc seemed neat, was very lightweight, and was similar to the HK36 magazine (the round of which inspired my previous generation of 4mm cartridges).
I like the rifle But the magazine looks a little...... Protrusive.

Eh. It doesn't look much worse than a FAMAS, to me at least

They are all really very good. Yes, its very durable. The AK-74 and the AKM type II bayonets are the most versatile.

I did not. I didnt feel like reading 27 pages to be honest.

Hm... I am modeling my own on the AK bayonet. So this has me thinking. Would it be a good idea to skip a type I and just go strait with a type II like design? I am not sure why they went from plastic to steel and back to plastic but I assume it had something to do with the plastic. If that is so I might even stick to wood for a while longer.

Also, how does the blade attach to the handle without things being conductive? I mean you have to put some lugs through the tang and into the handle sides. Is that plastic as well or maybe just rubber insulated?

Also, this is where I get all my data from.
http://worldbayonets.com/Misc__Pages/ak ... onets.html

I did not. I didnt feel like reading 27 pages to be honest.

It's not even on this thread... I think. Overall a good point.

Click the image to open it. If you have issues turning the pages just mouse over the page and the edge helper should curl up for you. I could not avoid some player specific issues so that's a workaround I included. The rest should be intuitive enough.

And yes, I know it's a bit gimmicky by now. But I think the text and images inside are mostly of a decent quality. But If I wrote something stupid tell me.

Thank you Puz, I appreciate it.
I suspect I'll ask Ulfr when he reappears, but I'm thinking that either a tanto or stiletto will be what I need.

I do have a slightly different question though. If I'm already issuing multi tools, do I still need an ultra utility knife as well?
I'm thinking I might just do a specific combat knife/bayonet.
