A Fantrum border patrol station on the eastern border has just been attacked!
~ Moments ago, a Station for Fantrum's customs and Border Patrol was viciously attacked and destroyed by what is believed to be elements of the Athretvar Kaukasia army.
President Luna has yet to comment or make any action against the neighboring country but is has called an emergency meeting of the house.

[OOC: Not sure if Athretvar is the actual Athretvari or a fictional nation created by the Greater Belkan Reich; gotta double check that, or else I'd need to replace that section with an actual nation]

President Maximus spoke out against the attack on Fantrum and urged citizens not to jump to any conclusion without hard evidence, much less before being officially addressed to the international community by Fantrum government officials

OOC: My very own defense is that if it is a player nation, the attack was orchestrated by my own government to pin the blame on the other guy, if its an NPC, Id like to have a nice long war to write about. Nothing so one sided or whatnot.

~ President Luna stated today in a press release that Fantrum would take no action against Athretvar until the appropriate international bodies had investigated the attack, but also said that she would not stand further attacks.

~Luna cuts back social welfare, and inflates the budget of FSEA (Fantrum Space Exploration Association) to levels that rival the military. Some speculate that this is extremely haphazard with the tension levels so high on the international field, but the president reinforced her decision by saying, "If we loose the edge in space, we have already lost every war we fight." Azaflaza launches a continental wide tourism appeal, hoping to gain a large base in the Mediterranean tourism industry.
Meanwhile a long overdue update of the navy has begun bringing in a new large modern fleet that will dominate the Black Sea.
The recent election of prime minister George Bennett has seen a rise in confidence throughout the nation.
However the problem of terrorists in the southern regions still looms but police presence on the streets and in potential targets has been increased.

Fantrum Afternoon News

Good afternoon ladies and Gentlemen, Im Brent Hailworth. As everyone knows, President Luna has begun massive mobilizations across the country, well, our reporters were able to get an exclusive interview with Grand General Chrysalis. We take you now to the Eastern boarder with Ashley Bloom; Ashley, your on.

The image changes to that of a young looking woman with an obnoxiously large red bow in her hair standing before the hastily set up Glaris FOB. Soldiers rush too and fro behind her and orders are being shouted left and right.

"Thanks Brent, here at the Glaris base of operations it is a scene of excitement and preparation" She takes a moment as a young man comes onscreen and yells hi to his mom, "More soldiers are arriving every second and leaving for the front. Just moments ago I was able to pull Grand General Chrysalis from her busy planing to discuss what is going to happen, roll the clip."

The scene on screen changes once more, it is now of both Ashley and a tall woman in a fine blue dress uniform, chest fully burdened by medals and face grizzled by years of war and stress.

"General, how do you plan to conduct the coming conflict?" Ashley posed the question primly.

The General took a moment before she answered, "We dont know that there will be a conflict. Dont assume that just because we soldiers get told to go somewhere that there will be killing." The General's face forms a scowl, "We are here simply because we are deterring another attack on our soil."

The reporter looked taken aback before she asked the next question, "What is our strategy for defense?"

This time the General takes no time answering, "Missy, would you tell everyone how you were keeping a pile of gold in your yard safe from them? NO! Because then they would figure out a way around it and steal your pile of gold." The General looks at something off camera, "I have to go." She gets up and walks briskly away from the flustered looking reporter as she signed off the broadcast.

The screen shifts back to Brent, "To watch the full interview, stay tuned at 11" He shuffles some paper, "Should you be looking up? Next we delve into how the government plans to weaponize clouds..."

~The rapid mobilization of the armed forces is one of the fastest in the Nation's history, with nearly 200,000 active duty soldiers on the line and as meany as 1,000,000 reservists readying for battle. Some in the House are pressureing President Luna to attack now, without waiting for international approval.

Somewhere in Northwestern Fantrum- Time is 03:00 hours

Lt Col. Soarin paced back and forth, 'Where is she?' He referred to his superior, Col. Fire. They were wheels up in 5 minuets, and she was nowhere to be found. '3 minuets. Come on!' She appeared, running from the lip of the hanger to the craft stored within. "I was starting to think you wouldnt make it ma'am!" the Lt Col. called out as he climbed up the hatch at the nose of the plane.

She promptly responded with a winded, "Shove it Soarin, lets get airborne." She sat in the seat next to him and started her pre-flight checklist. Ten minuets later they were joining the formation of some fifty B-79 stealth bombers that slowly dwindled down to nothing as they peeled off and flew at their targets. Said targets were known military bases and nuclear missile silos, those hitting military bases were armed with low yield nuclear devices, and planes targeting missile silos were loaded with a very potent cyber virus that would gut the computer systems before any missiles could be fired in response. Every plane was to circle their target until every combatant was in position. As soon as they were, the order was given, and brilliant flashes filled the countryside as nearly 20 military bases disappeared under a magnificent mushroom cloud, vaporizing the men and women still sleeping in their bunks. In the same instant, the cyber virus was dropped all over the country, wreaking havoc on all computer systems it connected with, effectively destroying the nation's second strike ability. As the clouds of radio active dust begins to settle, thousands of tanks roar to life and artillery barks its payload, and infantrymen fix bayonets. The invasion was going smoothly, as of yet, the enemy had been sleeping in there fox holes when the tanks rolled over them and operation's bases devastated by determined artillery fire. Land and sea based jets swarmed the skies, almost unchallenged. At sea, the Navy and marines exchange blows as a beach-head is painstakingly set up and troops sent in. The Navy of Athretvar Kaukasia puts up a valiant fight, sinking nearly 3 destroyers and badly damaging the FNS Spirit of Fantrum, but is forced to scatter after its capitol ships are hunted down and destroyed by torpedo equipped helicopters. As of yet, the enemy are in retreat.
