The elections for the National Assembly as well as the 10 elected members for the 30-member Council of Elders begins today.
The Parties are as follows:
The Welsh Labour Party: centre-left.
Welsh Labour seeks to target both working-class communities and public-sector employees for its election campaign, and also to increase its votes with the so-called additional members constituencies (members elected to Parliament based on number of votes over several constituencies).
Socialist Labour Party: left-wing
This party advocates more traditional socialism and also seeks to win the working-class vote since it has little appeal elsewhere.
Welsh Conservative Party: centre-right
Calling for economic liberalism, preservation of the Monarchy and social conservatism, the Conservatives turned to progressive conservatism recently, which has paid dividends in the form of increased public support.
Welsh Liberal Party: centre to centre-left
The standard modern liberal party calling for social, political and economic reform, the Liberals fail to attract as much support as they could due to their weak leader.
Welsh Future Party: centre-left (third way)
The Welsh Future Party, is a party also calling for a centre-left approach to social and economic policy, while also calling for action on climate change and ecologist politics.
