Spoiler Buttons for Forumside Factbooks

Postby Desmendura » Wed Feb 12, 2014 6:03 am

Code: Select all
[floatleft]

[/floatleft]

Becomes:

This is what you call a "spoiler button" I don't know if someone else has already come up with this, but I thought this would be of interest to people who wish to make forumside factbooks. You guys tell me what you think of this concept. You may also use the align BBC Code if you wish.

I use that in my signature, but hadn't thought of it for factbooks. That's actually a pretty cool application of it.

Desmendura does state that it's for forum side, but I just want to make sure that it's clear the spoiler code does not work on the factbook side, it only works on the forum side and is why you see it working here in this thread. I originally tried to add it back when I was setting up my factbook a few months ago as I had seen it used all over the place in the forums and thought 'hey that would be good to hide things that might take away from overall content but might be of note to include' and then couldn't figure out why it wouldn't work, so again just want people to be aware that it does not work on the factbook side.

In the future, the spoiler function may become implemented in factbooks. In fact, I believe Ponderosa was the one who suggested it. However, I don't know if it would be able to be used to create a "spoiler button".

I just want a way to be able to hide content. Unfortunately, the admins don't seem to have noticed my suggestions.

I made an wiki style factbook.
Usually, there is 2 types of nations.
Big, agressive nations, and small strugling nations.

I have another question, should a brief bio of the current leader go in Overview, History, or Miscellaneous? Or some place completely different?

I have a biography of my leader under Overview, but have an entire list of all the kings under History.

First of all, please edit your comment so as not to quote the whole guide. It's very messy.

There are a few posts in the comments that explain the cities chart. If you still don't get it, post here again.

:palm: I'm not talking about the Largest Cities. I'm talking about a whole separate code to use for cities. :palm:

It should be very similar, with "Military" and "Infrastructure" taken out. Even the infobox should be largely similar, with certain elements like "GDP", "HDI", "Drives on", "Capital"/"Largest City" and "Currency" removed.

I think we can also get some help checking Testlandia's factbook.

No need to facepalm, you didn't explain yourself. No, I'm not going to tailor a code for every kind of wiki article. If you simply edit the sidebar code yourself, it should be very easy to make one for cities.

Thank you a lot for this, it has help me make my factbook.

Of course, a lot more can be done to make anyone's better and I shall continue to improve it and continue on its expansion of content.

Once again, thank you.

I will make it a pastel version of yellow, so that it is easier on the eyes. I'm trying to stick with the golden theme of my currently Ultra-Nationalist nation.

Also, thank you for the positive feedback, constructive criticism, and the upvote. It always helps, eh?

Under the regular theme, it blends a bit much with the white background. I think a dark gold would look good in both, maybe like
