State Route 22 (SR-22), also called the Skyward Corridor, honoring Layfet's history of progressivism, is a main route of the Layfetian Highway system and the Epinay State Highway System. While it currently runs south-southeast from Fosterton to Layfet City, the route has been modified several times.

In 1955, the state of Epinay rebuilt several of its highways, and most of the original route of SR-22 was removed or transferred to other highways.

SR-22 is a north-south route, whose number is out of sequence with the rest of the Epinay State Highway System in the western part of the state. When it was designated in 1933, SR-22 only ran south from Kirksville to Nordipolica. It has been extended many times, largely replacing the former parts of SR-1 and SR-41. These extensions has caused a majority of the traffic heading southbound to Layfet City to switch over from L-2 to SR-22.

SR-22 does not serve a major transcontinental corridor, like every other highways due to Layfet being an island chain and is not a nationally sanctioned highway, even though it serves as a major commuter route between metropolitan areas, and gets more traffic between Nordipolica and Layfet City then L-2 does.

Recently, there has been calls to upgrade SR-22 to meet Intermetro highway standards and become the 8th Intermetro Highway, Severally Congressmen has introduced bills for this happen but they have been defeated thanks to other congressmen trying to "preserve the unique beauty and system of the Skyward Corridor."

Route Description

Coastal County

Image
SR-22's north end in
Fosterton
SR-22 begins on the north end of the state and Coastal County in Fosterton. Here, SR-22 is not the Skyward Corridor but is Fosterton Street, which serves as a major residential filter route. It crosses SR-2 heading south.

Here is uses the generic SR-22 shield sign until it turns into the Skyward Corridor just south of city limits where it uses the SR-22N and SR-22S shield signs because it splits into two routes running parallel with each other. SR-22 then runs east into El Cielo.

In El Cielo, Exit 1 on the Skyward Corridor is a filter route to SR-32 (Main Street) and SR-33 (Cielo Ave). Still running east, it passes briefly into Camp Pervil before leaving to Vaine City. In Camp Pervil, Exit 2 leads to a Military Prison and the Barracks. In Vaine City, Exit 3 turns into SR-30 (Industrail Parkway). From there the route starts turning southward as it heads into Kirksville.

In Kirksville, the Skyward Corridor first hits Exit 4 to SR-24 (Conns Street) then Exit 5 to SR-26 (Main Street). Remaining Kirksville, SR-22 then leaves Coastal County.

Nordipolica County

Image
SR-22 in Nordipolica
next to the Airport
Still in Kirksville, the Skyward Corridor continues running south. SR-22's Exit 6 leads to SR-25 (Industrial Ave) and Exit 7 leads to SR-23 (Kirksville Parkway). Kirksville then passes over L-2 before leaving Kirksville.

On its way to the Nordipolica Metropolitan Area, the Skyward Corridor swings around Mount Cielo. Near the point of the mountain, the Skyward Corridor splits into its two auxiliary routes- SR-31W and SR-31E, both of which are part of the Skyward Corridor and travel to and from Sky Valley, which was named after the Skyward Corridor.

After it swings back, it enters the Nordipolica Metro through North Nordipolica. In North Nordipolica, the Skyward Corridor has one more exit-Exit 8 leading to SR-29 (Emery Parkway) before crossing over L-1 into Nordipolica and becoming a single road. It uses the SR-22/Skyward Corridor variant of the shield sign.

In Nordipolica, still running straight south, SR-22 intersects with SR-3 and SR-5. (Due to Nordipolica's boulivard system, on the east side SR-3 is Kenny Blvd and the west side is Brennan Blvd, while east side SR-5 is Moss Blvd and the west side is Bartholomew Blvd. SR-5 eventually becomes the Copper Highway leading to Colani City). After SR-5, the Skyward Corridor runs along the east side of Nordipolica International Airport with SR-6 (Mitchell Blvd) and SR-8 (Toral Blvd) splitting off from it.

After the Airport ends, SR-22 intersects with SR-21 (east side Hauge Blvd/west side Airport Rd) splits again into SR-22N and SR-22S, once again using the variant signs. It then leaves Nordipolica and Nordipolica County and into Engle County.

Engle County

Image
SR-22 intersecting
SR-1/State Street
in Chantsberg
In Engle County, the Skyward Corridor runs east of the remaining part of the Nordipolica Metro, with Exit 9 leading SR-2 back to the Metro and into Freeside and Sotoberg.

It then travels south for a good amount of mileage before hitting Exit 10 in Chantsberg, Exit 10 leads to SR-1 also known as State Street. Before leaving Chantsberg, Exit 11 leading to SR-36 (Main Street) is reached. After SR-36, the Skyward Corridor continues traveling south and into Niue County.

As While Chantsberg and Fort Engle are the only direct cities on the Skyward Corridor, SR-22 still serves as a major commuter route. This is because Chantsberg is a highly industrial area built intentionally away from the metro for health reasons.

Many people from Sotoberg, Freeside, Nordipolica, South Nordipolica, and Engle Valley uses SR-22 to get to work instead of the more direct SR-1/State Street due to the narrowness of that road.

There are currently several plans to expand routes from roads from Sotoberg to SR-22.
Niue County

Image
Exit 12 to SR-44 in
Gash Valley
As it travels south in Niue County, the Skyward Corridor starts swinging around several hills including Oliver Hill, Vine Hill, Revenue Hill, Funded Hill, and Baine Hill before traveling back directly southward.

Before it reaches the Haru County line, SR-22 has one Exit to SR-44 in Gash Valley. Exit 12 on the Skyward Corridor serves the major connector for people traveling from Oian and Morey (which are east of Chantsberg and connect to Engle County viva L-1,SR-36, and SR-1/State Street) to other cities west of Niue County like Charity and Calb.

SR-22 in Niue County and also in Haru County mark the longest continuos length of the route with no major cites or exists. Despite this, the route is still more used then the L-2 which passes through even more cities in this area, mainly due the outstanding large populations of the metros on both ends of the Skyward Corridor.

After Gash Valley, the Skyward Corridor continues to head directly south for a couple miles before heading into Haru County.

Haru County

Image
Exit 13 to SR-45
to Ritroutaun
SR-22 runs directly south through Haru County with no interruptions or path changes with the exception of Exit 13 to SR-45.

SR-45 leads to the small town of Ritrotaun and SR-41, which leads to Colline and L-2.

SR-41 used to along SR-22's path pre-1955 where it connected SR-44 in Gash Valley through Ritrotaun and into Colline. When SR-22's extension southward from Chantsberg was planned, it was originally going to run farther east parallel to SR-41, but then the Skyward Corridor Planning Commission decided to absorb SR-41 in both Niue and Haru Counties. After getting permission from the Department of Transportation and the Epinay State Highway Commission, they went ahead with construction.

new areas connected the old parts of SR-41 where built west of Ritrotaun and SR-45 was redesigned from its original location in Layfet city to a connection route between SR-41 and the Skyward Corridor.

SR-45's designation in Layfet City was simply removed, but the road where it was is now called the "Old forty-five".

Moore County

Image
SR-22 in dowtown
Layfet City
The Skyward Corridor continues running south where it connects once more into a single road before intersecting with SR-41 once again just north of Layfet City. It then enters Layfet City and immediately crosses L-2 in a cloverleaf format. The only such format along the route.

After crossing L-2, it then becomes the Skyward Blvd, despite still using the Skyward Corridor shield sign. In Layfet City, SR-22 serves as a major north-south route between downtown, L-2, and Epinay State University.

Skyward Blvd then intersects SR-46 (North Blvd), then SR-47 (Casino Dr), SR-49 (Anokam St) and finally SR-50 (South Blvd) before sharply diverting east becoming Skyward Street. This is where the usage of the Skyward Corridor shield ends and it just uses the plan SR-22 shield.

Skyward Street runs east parallel to SR-50 intersecting SR-41 (East Blvd) for the last time and SR-52 (Lowton Street). SR-50 then runs diagonally south intersecting SR-22 toward the Moore County Ferry Terminal. SR-22 then runs continuously east and into Liat County.

Liat County

Image
SR-22's south end
at SR-51
After leaving the Layfet City Metro, and into Liat County, the traffic on SR-22 declines fast as more traffic now takes the slightly more north, more direct, and faster L-2.

In Liat County, SR-22 diverts back north, crossing L-2 and ends at SR-51. Both SR-51 and L-2 head to Corbrooke.

200-300 pixels is probably the ideal size for pictures if you don't want to fill half the factbook with them.

I've started importing my own factbook from my forumside factbook and my Wikistates and NSWiki articles, with a few tweaks of my own, and it's looking very flashy. Again, my hat is tipped.

Any idea on how to resize the Map without blur?

Are there other websites besides incur that can be used because no matter how small the actual image is, my flag always takes up the entire top portion? Please help me to fix this because I think that the format for imgur has changed since this was posted and I can't edit images from there.

Try adding an "m" at the end of your image url. Example:

Nederlands-Indië - Hindia Belanda
IIIIIIIIIIIIII
IIIIIIIIIIIIII

Weird, I've been using Imgur and have never run into problems. I know for sure that you can edit images that you upload yourself.
Are you sure you're updating your image url after each time you edit your image? Imgur adds a ?1 after the original URL to signify an edited image.

Step 1: copy Ponderosa's template.
Step 2: fill in each section.

I use his template for all my puppets. He makes my life much easier. For an example of a WIP, see https://www.nationstates.net/page=dispatch/id=824476. Each of the sections in the table of contents will have a paragraph or more on the page. Instant fackbook filler.

Ponderosa wrote:Ponderosa’s Guide to a Wiki Style Factbook

How often have you come across a bloggy factbook, consisting of multiple articles with only a few sentences each? A wiki-style factbook allows you to condense a lot of information in only one factbook, and looks much more professional.

Wiki style factbooks are inspired from Wikipedia articles and other wikias. In this guide, I will show you how to create an article that is highly informative, organized, and visually appealing.

Disclaimer: This guide is designed for the gameside factbooks, found on your nation page. Some codes and templates do not work well on forumside factbooks, and will not work at all on sites like IIWiki. If you have any questions, please submit them in the thread here. I prefer not to receive telegrams with questions.

Contents

Sidebar
This is a major part of a wiki factbook. It provides quick facts and statistics about your nation.
What to Include
    - Nation name and pretitle
    - Flag
    - Motto
    - Anthem Title
    - Small map or orthographic showing where your nation is located (no details!)
    - Capital and Largest City
    - Demonym
    - Government (e.g., national leader, legislature, etc)
    - Geographic Statistics (land area, water percentage, etc)
    - GDP
    - And more. See my factbook or Wikipedia entries to draw inspiration.

How to make it
The sidebar will be the very first thing in your factbook code. It will involve the use of [box] and [floatright] tags.
1) Put a [box] and a [floatright] tag at the beginning of the code.
2) Start filling in information! Use small images for your flag and orthographic, and divide each section with underscores or {hr} tags.
3) Finish the sidebar with the appropriate end tags.

Title and Introduction
The title of your factbook is automatically set across the top of the page. There is no way to remove it. If you’d like a second, more colorful title, feel free to add it.

Your introduction section is basically a summary of your nation. The first paragraph is typically a description of where your nation is located, which nations border it, and a list of territories. The second paragraph (often merged with the first) is a brief description of your nation’s geography, usually including land area and population.

The next few paragraphs are often a summary of your nation’s history. If you’re like me and can’t be bothered to write a very detailed history of your nation, leave it all for the body.

The final paragraph of your introduction describes your nation’s position in the present day. It is essentially a ego-rub that brags about your nation’s economic status, positions of world power, and freedoms. If you’d like, you could otherwise use this space to talk about how dirt-poor your nation is. It doesn't matter. Nobody’s going to read it anyway.

Remember, leave details to the body paragraphs!

Table of Contents
If you want a bit of a challenge, you can add a table of contents to your factbook. This typically comes after your introduction. This involves the use of [anchor] and [url] tags.

1) Write your Table of Contents without any BB code. Just a list format.
2) Put [box] and [floatleft] tags at the beginning of the list, and put the necessary / tags at the end of the list.
3) Publish your factbook and obtain the url (or internet address).
4) Go back to the editing page. Put [url]tags at the beginning of each item, and paste the url into the tag.
5) Add a hashtag and some other word that will identify the part of the wiki that the table of contents will link to. The code for your table of contents should look something like this:

Code: Select all
[box][floatleft][b][center]Contents[/center][/b]
[url=http://www.nationstates.net/nation=ponderosa/detail=factbook/id=97589#Ety]1 Etymology[/url]
[url=http://www.nationstates.net/nation=ponderosa/detail=factbook/id=97589#Hist]2 History[/url]
[url=http://www.nationstates.net/nation=ponderosa/detail=factbook/id=97589#Geo]3 Geography[/url]
[/box][/floatleft]

6) Go to each section of your factbook and add [anchor] tags to each section’s title. [anchor=] will allow you to link each section to the table of contents. For example, to link to the table of contents above, use the code below.

Code: Select all
[b][u][size=150][anchor=Ety][/anchor]Etymology[/size][/u][/b]
[b][u][size=150][anchor=Hist][/anchor]History[/size][/u][/b]
[b][u][size=150][anchor=Geo][/anchor]Geography[/size][/u][/b]

Body
This is going to be the meat of your factbook, where all the tiny details you excluded above will now be recorded. If you have even more in-depth articles, you can add an indented link to your “main article” like so:

Code: Select all
[list][i][url=http://www.nationstates.net/nation=ponderosa/detail=factbook/id=97593]Main Article: Religion and Religious Policy in Ponderosa[/url][/i][/list]

Becomes:

The body can really have whatever you want in it. Some popular sections include, in order:

Etymology - This is the origin of your country's name! This section will probably be one of your shortest. Don't forget to add your demonym at the bottom.

History - This will be one of your longest sections. No story is complete unless you start here, but a good place to start might be with the prehistoric tribes in your country's geographic area. Maybe your country exists in a real world place (Ponderosa, for example, is an alternative to what is really the Southwestern US) in which case your history may be largely drawn from real-world history. Or, you might get even more creative, inventing a country in the far future or even in another world entirely! It's all up to you, but no factbook is complete without the History section. Go all out here!

Geography This is a mid-sized section, but it should be pretty easy - especially if your country is located on Earth. Start out with some basic facts about land and water area, which part of the world your country is located, and a short list of its overseas territories and whatnot. Then, go into more depth about all the various regions (the west is dominated by Mediterranean coastline, the north is mostly desert, etc). If you want, include some pictures - a satellite image, perhaps, or photos of various plants and animals. Did I mention that? Climate and wildlife information are good sub-sections for this section.

Demographics - All about people. Begin with some information about population size and estimated growth rates, including immigration effects. Then, add short paragraphs about the composition of your population: race, religion, language, sexual orientation, etc. If you have information about population density and largest cities, it should also go here. Be sure to check the largest cities section of this guide!

Government - A description of your government system. This includes what it is ("The Federation of Trapjackistan is a theocratic dictatorship...") followed by sections on your political divisons, election system, foreign relations, and taxation.

Military - This is often a subsection of your government section. This is often where factbook writers make a huge mistake - they forget that the military section should be a brief overview. Nothing is more annoying then getting a telegram asking me to look at a factbook, only to find that my template has been used as little more than dressing around a main course of enormous photos of military hardware. If you must include a picture, limit yourself to one. Also include information about military size, major divisions (like Air Force or Army, not detailed information about the Twelfth Stormtrooper Platoon ffs), and budget.

Economy - A mid-sized section about your economy. Some questions that should be answered: What economic system does your country use? What's your GDP, and how fast is it growing? Is your country rich or poor? How big is the private sector compared to the public sector? What products do you export, and who do you trade with? Income, poverty, and homelessness are also good sections to have here.

There's lots more you can include. Sections on education, infrastructure, health, science and technology, and culture are good additions to have here. Just have fun with it, and don't feel obligated to write about how the roads are built if you don't want to.

Largest Cities
I have recieved a lot of personal messages about my lovely little city chart, showing off my top ten cities. This was a relatively recent addition to my factbook, and was thus absent from the guide. I will attempt to resolve that problem now.
This part of the factbook usually belongs as a subcategory of your Demographics section. If you don't have one of those, make one. Then, make a table. Start with a [table] tag, then begin each row with a [tr] tag. Use the [td] tag for each new column. The columns are where you'll put your data. Finish each column with a {/td} tag after each column, {/tr} at the end of each row, and {/table} at the end of the whole table. If that was too confusing, a helpful template is included below.
Code: Select all

[tr][td]10[/td][td]CITY10[/td][td]CITY10POPULATION[/td][td]CITY10STATE[/td][/tr][/table]

Images
I've received several questions on how to post images in your factbook, and I will attempt to answer them. You will need to upload your images to an image-sharing site, such as Photobucket, Tinypic, or Imgur. For the purposes of this guide, I will demonstrate how to use Imgur to upload images.

1) Go to [url=imgur.com].
2) Under the "Upload images" header, you will see a link that says "Computer." Click on that.
3) A window will open, allowing you to search for and select your file from your computer. Select your file, and click "Open."
4) After uploading the image, you will arrive at a new page on which your image is in the center. If you like the image, copy the code under the heading "BBCode (message boards & forums)."
5) Paste the code into your factbook.

Now you have your image! However, you may not like the size. Luckily, back on step 4, there is a link in the upper-right that says "Edit image." After clicking that, you can resize your image using the box in the upper-right. Make sure the proportions are locked! Once you've set the image to the preferred size, click "Apply", then "Save."

By the way, the answer to any image question I get (how to make maps, orthographics, flags, whatever) is always just Microsoft Paint. Edit existing images, or make one from scratch. I don't have any special tricks for design, which is why all my designs are very minimalist.

Template Source Code
As part of this guide, I have included the source code for a wiki factbook template. If you don’t understand this guide, or just don’t want to read it, you can simply copy/paste this template and fill in the information.

Table of Contents
If you want a bit of a challenge, you can add a table of contents to your factbook. This typically comes after your introduction. This involves the use of [anchor] and [url] tags.

6) Go to each section of your factbook and add [anchor] tags to each section’s title. [anchor=] will allow you to link each section to the table of contents. For example, to link to the table of contents above, use the code below.

Dunno if this is the right place for this (obviously I didn't read the 40-plus pages of this thread), but I took the template of the table of contents from here and for some reason not everything is as it should be.

Any tips on how to rectify this?
Moscareinas is an unexpectedly prosperous democratic republic whose territories include 54% of the western Indian Ocean, the IRL BIOT, Comoros, Mayotte, the Seychelles, Mauritius, and Reunion. Not included: Madagascar.

Moscans are torn about Madagascar.

Make sure the [floatleft] tags on the table of contents box is outside of the [box] tag.

If the box tag is outside of the floatleft, only the text will be "floating left", with the box as normal.
If the floatleft is outside of the box, the text and the box will float left

Fun fact: on the forum, having tags arranged one way at the beginning of a text block (say you have floatright on the outside and box on the inside) but arranged another way at the end (floatright on the inside and box on the outside) can cause the page to glitch
