Great guide. I have one question though - how do you put the box thing with the capitals and flags and population smaller? I'm saying this because if you look at my factbook, I can't really get my Table of Contents to fit in. :(

The width of the box depends on the longest line in it, so the solution is to make the longest line smaller. In your case I think it's the "Legislature: The Supreme Congress (separate from People's Congress)" line.

My new edit of Ponderosa's template- an infusion of my factbook with the original template, updated from my last one in 2013.

The code: http://www.nationstates.net/page=dispat ... raw=291066

How it looks like (some odd formatting bugs will go away once enough information is added): http://www.nationstates.net/page=dispatch/id=291066

EDIT: Feel free to move the image templates around and duplicate them as you please.

Also, I always thought that arial went better with factbooks; gave it a more Wikipedia feel to it

That's what I thought too- if you're going to have a Wikipedia format, why not use the same font to complete the experience?

That's actually... really nice. My one possible criticism would be to nix the horizontal lines after each subsection... its not a huge issue but it does unsettle me personally.

What bothered me was the lack of the lines after each main heading, but then again Ponderosa's template doesn't have them either.

If you look at my factbook (or a Wikipedia article if you're not on a mobile device) you'll see what I mean.

Otherwise, it's quite an accomplishment.

I agree, it's a better way of defining the beginning of each major section.

@Ujang it looks very nice right now! I'm sure you must have spent a lot of time and effort into it.

This was a great help. I ended up utilizing the basic codes and modified it for a forum post (since Tag's don't work on the NSfactbook page). Even got it to look like a page straight out of Wookiepedia.

If you use the
Code: Select all

tag instead of the underline after each major heading, it'll look even closer.

Instead of just
Characteristics

you can have
Characteristics

with that long gray line like Wookiepedia has after each major heading.

I'm actually already using the
Code: Select all

tag already.

Characteristics

It worked for "Role" but when I tried that for "characteristics", it ended up shoving all of the characteristics description underneath the box of stats leaving a massive blank space on the lefthand side.

Huh, must be a forum thing. It works fine with gameside factbooks. Well, the forums were never meant to be able to emulate a wiki in the first place anyway, so I guess it makes sense that wiki features (or even just the gameside factbook abilities) don't necessarily work that well on them.

Yea true. But for some reason gameside factbooks don't support tags, which is what I need for when it comes to posting stats. It gets kinda cluttered just posting stats like that without them.

Oh, I see. I remember seeing suggestions for that in Technical, but I don't remember why it hasn't been implemented yet.

Ah, here it is. Seems to have either not been seen by the tech admins or is being secretly worked on. Probably the former.

Thanks a lot for the guide!

Put more detail in. Look at my city one here, the template was edited by me slightly to fit the city theme.
