What is your nation's national sport?

For example Piacentini's national sport is lacrosse. It is played all throughout the country. Other sports include hurling, ice hockey, american football, and track.

The number one sport in New Lyrane is the traditional martial art, tañoyora. It is very similar to quarterstaff played with a length steel pipe. It has a thousand years of tradition behind it. Children learn it in school. Cities close down for championship games. Professional practitioners are very highly regarded; more than one champion has parlayed her popularity into a successful political career. No major gathering is complete without a tañoyora demonstration.

Sounds very exciting, doesn't it? Unfortunately, the word tañoyora translated into Human means literally 'pole dancing'.

We don't have anything specified. Gladiator fighting is definitely our most popular, however. Followed by Deathracing and BezerkBall.

Football (as in English football or 'soccer'), although rugby and baseball are also very popular sports.

For adults: Aerobatics. We have competitions ranging from little local matches to national extravaganzas. Even the Decepticon Military has both a competition and a noncompetitive airshow.

These shows are some of the few events where the usual law, which requires everyone to be armed, is suspended. Participants and nearby live spectators must instead DISarm to prevent shoot-down incidents from happening in the heat of the moment.

For Youngsters:
Raid Games. Like aerobatic competitions, raid games take place on many levels. Leagues exist, and every year, there is a national playoff to determine the best team.

These games safely simulate oil/petroleum refinery raids. One team plays as the raiders, while the other side will be the defenders. Teams switch places four times per game, and up to two extra turns are allowed in the case of a tie (if the teams are still tied after that, then the final score will be recorded as such). During each turn, players have 20 minutes to either steal the goal or defend it from theft, depending on which side the team is on.

In these games, paintball blasters take the place of the real thing. Using real weaponry results in immediate disqualification for the individual player that brings it into the game zone. These are supposed to be GAMES, not a way for our youth to kill each other (they can do that just fine on their own).

Also, instead of oil or Energon, a special stand-in is used for a goal. This isn't because real Energon is too expensive or dangerous - it's to prevent cheating. Everyone has some of the real thing on them, so the goal is always made out of something that is random and unusual. The goal item is always big enough to be easily seen so everyone can easily see who controls it at any given time.

In advanced Raid Game matches such as the playoffs, "weaponry" goes far beyond artificial blasters. Paint-filled SAMS and shoulder-fire-type paint rockets will come into play. There will also be multiple goals to grab up/defend, which represent the multiple oil tanks and tanker ships normally present at a real-life foreign refinery target.

While everyone likes watching aerobatics better than raid games, the raid games are of much more value to the nation. They give youth a safe way to see a raid from both the perspective of the raiders and the defenders, and this grants an excellent advantage when it comes time to do the real thing.

Though not officially enacted as the "national" sport, the de facto answer is baseball.

Paparian is a rugby-mad nation.
Football/soccer is a distant second in terms of popularity.
