Celsan lanza Carlton en España y Territorios
10 enero 1994
10 Feb 1994
Celsan Automotive group, of Astholm, have launched an updated version of the Carlton, for the 1994 model year.
Based on the Opel Omega (the 1986-1994 model, which this version is based on, not the current car), but wider and longer than it, the Carlton may share a name with its British counterpart, the Vauxhall Carlton, but that's where the similarities end; it looks very different, gaining styling differences, and engines unique to Celsan, including a V6 not found in the Opel Omega, as well as a different turbo diesel engine.
It will have a choice of 2.0 litre 114 bhp 4-cylinder and 2.4 litre 123 hp 4-cylinder petrol engines, along with a 3.0 litre 160 bhp 6-cylinder petrol.
A V6 petrol will also be offered, but it will supplement, rather than replace, the six-cylinder petrol engines. It is an engine of Celsan's own design and engineering, rather than sourced from elsewhere.
Trim levels will be LS, GLS, Plaza and ExecutiveC, along with sporty SR and GTE variants for those seeking more fun from their luxury car.
Prices have not yet been announced, but expect to pay more than the old model, around 5 to 10 per cent, although this is not confirmed.
It will be built in Victoriahurst, Astholm and sold here in Spain from March 1994 onwards.
In the meantime, you can get good discounts on the current car, up to 30 per cent, if you haggle hard enough, so it's worth a try.

Mayor du Foxhold pledged $150 million in funding towards the total cost of the $210 million projects should his government be re-elected at the upcoming City of Hearthbury High election.
